The car just wasn't ready for the dyno from the start. You did a great job with this one dude, fixed plenty of bullshit problems that could of easily been addressed before being dropped off. Silly to just want a number
The guy probably used the y8 headstuds (longer) then the d15b or z6( shorter). With the shorter deck height of the d15 the y7y8 head bolts or studs are to long and bottoms out in the block. It does not keep the head compressed down tight enough. Ask me how I know. If you have the y8 arps add another washer. Been there done that. Might not be a gasket issue as much as the bolt stud issue. Get a je proseal with decked surfaces and you'll be mint. I've been perfecting a jdm d15b with a built y8 head for the past 3 years running into such issues. I have a built y8 bottom I should just put in, but the challenge to make the Lego kit work and me needing a daily has kept me from putting my built bottom in and turbo kit on. Great effort hunter!

D-serious did that too and seems to be having better luck on his new build. I love that everyone figures out what works best and shares that knowledge amongst our community.
That's why I haven't brought my car to you to get turned. I dont want to waist your time until I have everything ironed out. I want like that bruh. Might come out tonight to support you at the track boi!
Thanks for sharing these tuning sessions. I always learn a lot. It's too bad you have to screw around tying up loose end just to tune the thing. Probably won't be able to charge extra for your time either? Seems some customers don't understand that it needs to run right before you can even tune it. Probably not all the guys fault either since it seemed like some issues were intermittent.
Damn something about the look of that gray EF with white rims just hits different!! 🤓😆🔥🔥🔥I’m too old (39 but a kid at heart) to use that term “hits different” and not 100% sure I’m even using it correctly. 🤦♂️. Btw Hunter love the channel and content- you’re a dude I could def hang out and have a few beers with
I think you should charge for a preliminary service for anyone that wants a tune. If they pass the preliminary, then on to the dyno and charge them accordingly for the tune. During the preliminary service is where you could (if you wanted to) drum up the cost of things you have to do to get it dyno worthy. IMO, NA cars should be $450, turbo or boosted should be $650 per dyno session. The way you do it now you're scheduling for a tune that inadvertently gets (IMO) free work out of you. Maybe it's just the flat-rate technician w/o a pay guarantee side of me coming out, but you are free lance. Technically being flat-rate, so am I. I feel your frustration 100% I'll finish here: "Have a good night and a better tomorrow!" Later bro.
I had a similar issue with my b series. Right off the bat over heating fresh build less than 50 miles on the motor. The tuner never synced the timing. I learned after you're supposed to. I went through everything to track down the over heating issue. Pulled the head and found mechanical timing was off by a couple teeth. Next the head gasket was toast, and there was a hole in the piston and scraped cylinder walls. Guy who built the motor mickey mouse everything. It was my fault for not checking it before I had it put on the dyno. Point is. Check your shit before you go to get it tuned. Don't expect the tuner to fix everything on the spot. This guy telling you to send it is absolutely insane. There is an obvious problem mechanically with it. You put your reputation on the line when you give in to these builds. We all know how quickly people go to the forum to trash on someone for their own mistakes. Trying for 400 with overheating, eating oil and coolant will likely lead to catastrophic failure. It'll be easy to say "the tuner did it on the dyno, my motor was completely built".
Your an awfully nice dude. No coolant, no oil. Shits loose.. lines coming off. A lot of tuners would of rolled that shit out into the parking lot and told them to come get it... and still charged a fee.
Hey I got a b20z stock block with b16 VTEC head stock just surface I don't past 7,000 rpm VTEC kick at 4,800 how much the timing should be at high rpm?
400 like that? Looks like the owner half assed a few things. And props to you for fixing some of the issues, most tuners wouldn't had done all that and still charge full price
