Thanks for this video, a big YUGE thanks!!! I have the same model and found it pretty hard without a long skinny star screw driver. Purchased a set one on Amazon, to get down into the skinny holes. After that disassembly was easy. Fortunately I had a syringe to help with the draining of the individual heads, definitely don't want to get the micro chip side wet. I found myself changing out a few paper towels through the draining process, be careful this thing drips so try not to move the print head too much, keep a trash can near. This gentleman used a cd case, I put my print head in an older plastic ziploc container. Thanks again for saving me $100+ Also noting, inside the chassis where the print head was I saw some ink residue, attempted to use some alcohol wipes but wasn't easy, a few or more q-tips rather is a better choice to clean with.
Hey Logan...what size star screwdriver did you use?? I tried an allen wrench but of course it didn't work. I can't even get started to undo my printer, bec I can't get the screws out...Thx.
lanancedar I got the e.durable precision screwdriver set from amazon. Unfortunately after several tries the printer head would shortly fail after only printing a few times. I’ve since thrown this piece of junk in the trash, but I’d figured I’d try my best, plus I got an excellent set of precision screw drivers that I’ve since used over and over again
Thank you Logan. I've been trying to find a single small thin star shaped screwdriver all day...my printer (besides not being able to make just a black copy of something)also has a bunch of gooey-ish black ink underneath where the carriage slides to on the far right, on the bottom of the printer. That is why I was hoping to take it apart, so I could clean out that black ink that somehow leaked. It does seem like really it's mostly just a piece of junk, and I will no doubt have to go get a new one. Thanks for your reply earlier. I appreciate it.
One more question for you Logan...do you remember if you used a T5 or a T6 torx screwdriver to take the screws out of the printer? Or was it an even smaller T size? Thanks.
You don't have to take the printer apart to clean the printhead. Just slide the print head to the side and put a paper towel underneath it. This is the most extra way to clean it 😂
Great tip although I had to do one extra thing which was to ever so carefully place one tiny drop of cooled down boiled water at a time over the black ink head, wait for it to slowly drip down and keep changing the piece of folded kitchen towel paper, as the flushed debris leaked onto the paper. I gently put the paper in place using tweezers to pull it out from the other side, wiping the heads at the same time. I repeated this process about 6 times until the heads were 'flushed out.' The only radical thing here was that the printer had to be switched ON the whole time, in order to be able to move the cartridge head unit to the centre so one can then ease the absorbant strip of kitchen towel underneath where the ink heads are! I then switched it off from the socket and PC before switching it on again and putting new HP cartridges inside. The first couple of prints were weak until the new ink started flowing all the way through the flushed head. So thanks for the tip since this repair was achieved, like you said, without having to dismantle the printer at all. I rarely use the printer so I believe that's why the original inkjets had dried up and clogged up the heads. The black unit needed the most flushing as opposed to the coloured ones. I will make a habit of printing off something random every week just to keep the ink flowing and hopefully avoid this problem again.
Thanks, but how frustrating...impossible to even just take the screws out in order to get anywhere inside the printer...can't clean anything if I can't even take the cover off. Super frustrating...
Gracias por tu gran apoyo, pude limpiar los cabezales de la impresora a la perfección, espero sigas compartiendo tus conocimientos de esta manera, gracias
Useless advertising rip off: Advertising every 1 minute (I know I will never use Verbo after this) -- no explanations -- annoying music -- AND he is completely disassembling the printer just to put cleaning fluid (probably alcohol but he doesn't say) on the pads under the ink cartridges and soak it up with a towel on the paper side of printhead … something that can be done with no disassembly.
Helpful video overall despite annoying music. Where did put place the blue and red wire that is attached to the top lid? I took my printer apart and that wire snapped off before I had an opportunity to find out where it belonged.
Reading the complaints here in Brazil, I saw that more than 90% of the people who bought the HP6830 (or HP6835) have the same stupit problem. It is a hardware error (congrats to HP engineers) Here it sets up deceptive propaganda. The problem is that my warranty is over. This template should be named HP_BULLSHIT. if the worst came to the worst, one might be tempted to go to law.
Hi juan, thanks. I did find that a Torx 9 would work, but then the one I had wouldn't go down into the two deeper holes where a couple of the screws are; I'd even bought a whole set with an adapter handle, but the end of the handle was still to big to be able to get into the holes where the screws are. It needs to be just a super slim long handle, and I still haven't found one. I have pretty much given up on it. It's really frustrating. Thanks again.
@@lanancedar We were dead set on getting a new printer, so I just went ahead and drilled into the thin hole and basically cracked away the casing. Worked for me.
Thank you very much for the video, it helped me a lot. I think I have done something wrong, because when I turned on the printer the car goes all the way to the left, it does not go to the center, like when the cartridges are changed and also on the screen it shows me a message of paper jam, which really does not exists. You would know how to solve it. Thank you.

Hi. My printer is Keep Pop Out 'Printhead Problem' everytime I on. I can't print anything, if this is my case can I still use your method to fix my printer ?
Yes, this is the fix for that error message. In my case the printer is 5 years old and had a lot of old congealed ink in it. It definately needed to be cleaned out. It is not easy if you are not handy. You need a # 10Torx screw driver to remove the screws. We did not remove the clear positioning strip, as it did not seem necessary to us. Read my previous post on how I cleaned the print head.
Hi there, i did everything as per the video but my printer still says the same. However, I noticed under it, it's a lot of ink spilled and the rubber belt has some holes ? is that supposed to be like that ? Regards, Alex

Arbaches Glaukus - True, shouldn’t be designed like that. But if you have to repair it, you can order a replacement head from hong kong for about 30 eur. The video shows how to replace it.
I had been using my daughter's old inkjet printer from when she was in college. It was nothing special with no bells and whistles but did the job. After a zillion years, it finally gave up so I decided, heck, I should spoil myself and get a stepped-up model with the bells and whistles (copying, scanning, emailing, etc.). I look back now and am gobsmacked at myself -- how could I not have seen the warnings on this model that were all over social media?! Within a couple of months of having the brand new printer, there was a printhead issue that required the entire printer to be returned to the company. Instead of sending me back a NEW printer, they sent me a "remanufactured" printer that was the same model. I was in the course of moving, so I barely used it at the time (but it did work). Fast forward to me moving and not taking the printer out of the box for 2 years because I was genuinely annoyed and skeptical of it's ability to do what it was supposed to do. When I did unbox it, not surprisingly, the problems started almost immediately. First, the ink carriage didn't want to line up. I dabbled with it for a couple hours (I had no idea what I was doing btw, but somehow it started to work - for about a half a minute. Then, it flashed the message that the ink cartridges had dried out and where unusable (cha-ching $99). I fixed that problem. Now, it's a dang printhead problem. Haven't been able to use this stupid thing for months. SO FRUSTRATING!!! The scanning feature? AWESOME! The emailing feature? AWESOME! The self-feeding feature? AWESOME! The ability to print even one single word? MISERABLE FAILURE!!
It's a really crap HP product. I got two machines repaired (swapped) under guarantee, and now the third piece is giving the same cartridge defect error. It's not broken, but HP ruined it on purpose thru hp updates I believe. This was definitly my last HP piece of crap...
Why cover what you are doing with large print? Not helpful for those who are trying to fix the problem in a hurry and absolutely no need for the music. Sorry.
