Just watched both seasons in 2 days, can't remember laughing this hard and enjoying every single aspect of it! Everything and Everyone was just AMAZING! Hopefully a LOT more seasons to come!
The mother should be grateful that Catherine ruined her sister's French marriage prospects, because she probably saved her sister's life, as the sister would very likely have ended up under the guillotine! (I assume that the "French job" went to Marie Antoinette instead.)
Unfortunately, this would not work out either. Marie Antoinette was the same age like Catherine the Great’s son, and thus not in the same generation as a possible sister of Catherine. A possible sister would have more likely been engaged to prince Louis Ferdinand de Bourbon, only son of Louis XV., who was born in the same year as Catherine.
@@markusvolkmar I think this series was not exactly made for historical accuracy (except perhaps for the costumes and the locations), and we have to distinguish between the characters of this show and the actual historical figures who inspired them. Just look at Catherine and Peter having a "Beatrice and Benedick"-like relationship with each other and Catherine not killing Peter after she's taken the throne for herself alone, as well as the usual mix-ups in the sequence of the events depicted. Their aim seems to be to make general statements about history and about certain tendencies within history, and from what I've seen they are making out Catherine as an advocate of women's rights in a broader sense.
It took me a minute to recognize her, I've only ever seen her in The Crown, but if that's her real voice, she did a WONDERFUL job playing Margaret Thatcher lol

It fells more like propaganda then funny show. Hollywood should stop bastardize and change world history and stick to US and Washington vampire hunter. Iam not against the show itself its actually better then vast majority of garbage released nowadays but as someone who is interested in history i must object.

How can a writer manage to ruin such a great series? Season 3 is hard to swallow. You feel like they are just doing whatever to get more time on screen. Also missed some great opportunities to explore some story lines, giving it away to some terrible 'carters'.
Because black people actually held positions of power in great European households. Evidenced by the many portraits that have been left behind from that era, historical records too. You yourself could research to see.
