    In the last scene, when Cathrin shouts "Go!' at her mother and gets immediately scarred of what she has said, it is a top acting from Elle. She is great actress and they both have created awsome on-screen dynamic with Gillian Anderson

    The mother should be grateful that Catherine ruined her sister's French marriage prospects, because she probably saved her sister's life, as the sister would very likely have ended up under the guillotine! (I assume that the "French job" went to Marie Antoinette instead.)

      Unfortunately, this would not work out either. Marie Antoinette was the same age like Catherine the Great’s son, and thus not in the same generation as a possible sister of Catherine. A possible sister would have more likely been engaged to prince Louis Ferdinand de Bourbon, only son of Louis XV., who was born in the same year as Catherine.

    • @christianealshut1123
      @christianealshut1123 2 месяца назад +1

      @@markusvolkmar I think this series was not exactly made for historical accuracy (except perhaps for the costumes and the locations), and we have to distinguish between the characters of this show and the actual historical figures who inspired them. Just look at Catherine and Peter having a "Beatrice and Benedick"-like relationship with each other and Catherine not killing Peter after she's taken the throne for herself alone, as well as the usual mix-ups in the sequence of the events depicted. Their aim seems to be to make general statements about history and about certain tendencies within history, and from what I've seen they are making out Catherine as an advocate of women's rights in a broader sense.
