Great job with the list. Allstar team if there ever was one.
That list is awesome and especially now many years later when so many younger people will not recognize many of the truly amazing performers that contributed.
Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Thanks... I had them all but three.
Awesome
Great job listing !!!
I thought it was great that Quincy Jones has posted a sign on the door to the studio reading
“Leave your egos at the door”
❤
Definitely the most talented choir ever assembled, then, now and forever. NOTHING could ever surpass this
Cyndi Lauper-Time After Time and True Colors really showcase her beautiful voice!
And if you want a laugh, search for Graham Norton Show w/ Seth McFarlane and Cindi Lauper. Seth sings those two songs with Peter and Stewie Griffin's voices. Only thing that would have been funnier is if he had sung "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "She Bop" with Glenn Quagmire's voice.
I want to second these as these really were standouts in her career.
Well since you always are trying to figure out what the song you're reacting to is really about... I'd recommend "She Bop". But don't bring the kids. :D
Yes, these songs!
Was just coming here to suggest these. I love these songs and they always make me cry a little.
“Who is that?” When Diana Ross sang is a prosecutable offense
LOL!!! I was like "WHAT??!!!" But then I reminded myself that younger generations might not be familiar with artists from before their time. Still...WHAT???!!!
@etmxd But still...come on 😂
More people know Kenny Rogers than Diana Ross. LOL
Absolutely!
yea.....that should be a crime
This is probably the single greatest assembly of musical talent ever! Each singer is/was the epitome of the genres they contributed to; but collectively singing the same song, they were magic.
Even a similar setup today with current artists wouldn't hold a candle to this.
@@bairnonessie They tried a few yrs back, a dismal failure
I think the the Mormon tabernacle choir qualifies.
I still stand for Band Aid
Probably? Nothing comes close and nothing ever will lol
More than likely the greatest lineup of musical talent you'll ever see in your lifetime. Cherish that, I sure do !
Hands down without a doubt the talent level is amazing
Cherish by Kool and the gang great song
@@KennethStanford-mf3fb- Love Kool & the Gang, being older now, that allowed me the introduction of Kool to the musical world. My fav by Kool & the Gang is MISLED done in the Mid 80s.
How is it possible that I've watched this song probably 1000 times and it still brings tears to my eyes? Such Unity!!!
It couldn't happen today. We're too divided. It's sad really
Me too
Does the same to me!
The power of music. This song always makes me shed some precipitation
Same here!
Seeing Dan Aykroyd in there never fails to make me laugh. He's on a mission from God.
I laughed as well, but Dan can sing. Although he probably doesn't deserve to be in that elite crew.
He was sent by The Penguin.
still a classic
Dan and John Belushi (SNL)(The Blues Brothers) had a huge hit Soundtrack album at the time. I believe this was right around the time John died. Everyone there was a superstar and it's amazing how many of them agreed to just be in the chorus without having a solo line. Prince was invited but declined.
His Dwight Schrute cosplay, 20 years early, always catches me off guard.
The 80s was a beautiful time to be in this world. I remember watching that when it came out. So many stars and beautiful voices. It was chilling for sure. ❤️
Black and white people together, no one saw the color of their skin at that time.
@@ahkkariq7406 EXACTLY!! Now why, all of a sudden, are we racist again? Thanks to the far-left and the mainstream media trying to convince us all that we hate each other.
@@sshelget I guess that's how they've always done it. Divide and Conquer.
I agree!
Bruce Springsteen with Stevie Wonder killed it for me!! I don't care what anyone says they all killed it, but Bruce Springsteen sung it like he was in pain, especially the part where he says, "there's a choice we're making and we're saving our own lives"! I have never seen somebody sing with such passion, so much so until you could see the pain on his face!! Love Bruce Springsteen's voice!! When he first come in with "We are the world, we are the children"! Lord, I used to watch that part over and over again!!!
They were my favorite too. 😁 I wish they would have collaborated more.
You can actually see a tear dropping from his eye during that part
Yes ! STEVIE & BRUCE ! Who would have thought they would have made such a duo ? Absolutely NOTHING compares !
They added Bruce and Stevie later (sort of duet part) after main part was done.quincy thought something extra was needed, he actually called them back after most had left. EXCELLENT CHOICE I DO BELIEVE
same
Forget Beyonce.... Diana Ross is the queen of pop. Her and MJ, perfection. So much talent in the studio that night.
Michael Jackson grew up listening to Diana Ross and idolized her and on this song he got to sing a short duet with her, a dream fulfilled.
Surprised they didn't recognize Tina Turner or Diana Ross. They need to hit some eary vids of Tina on stage.
It will never be matched again.
Donna Summer had pipes like I had never heard, but Diana is the tops, and they weren't in studio together!
No autotune back then. You actually had to have talent.
Quincy jones hung a sign outside the door that said "Leave your egos at the door". They all came straight over from the Grammys. It was a very big deal.
It was the American Music Awards on Jan 28, 1985. And the sign he wrote actually said "Check your egos at the door." You were very close.
Cyndi Lauper is one the most underrated artist ever...especially her writing...just read the words to some of her songs...incredible...
I saw Cyndi Lauper in concert and honestly I was blown away. She truly is extremely talented
She wrote the musical Kinky Boots based off of a British film. It started Billy Porter and later Wayne Brady.
Love her song Sister's of Avalon
Please react to Cyndi Lauper "True Colors"
Sally's Pigeons is incredible!!!
I'm a teacher too, 52 years old and I absolutely LOVED seeing you folks experience this for the first time. Notice I said "experience"...this song is not heard, it is truly experienced. It's clear you are both good people. Good luck and GOD BLESS.
The fact that you don’t know who Diana Ross and Tina Turner is just gave me chills. Oh maaan. So much music to discover and artists to read about!! 🌱
yeah a lot of them didnt even ring a bell to them. but anyway i cant judge. but i am surprised.
I agree 100%,you don’t know Diana Ross or Tina Turner ?
@@richrybinski1020 It is quite amazing that younger people don't know people who are still relevant today.
Yeah right...lol...I'm blown away by how much they are missing...I have a son and all I hear is rap..I don't mind some of the rap music but not...lol..if U get me...I don't understand what they are singing about these day..but yes love this comment
Dionne Warwick, Bob Dylan
Watched it when it aired on MTV. Still moves my heart over 40 years later.
Lol not quite 40 years I was born in 81 and won't be 40 for another 🤣 month. Song was made 1985. Hmmm guess I'm older than what I thought. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m 22 and I cry every time I hear the new ones and this one. Idk why lol. Like I hysterically sob
I get goosebumps everytime I hear this BEAUTIFUL SONG!
Every single voice in this song is precious and just phenomenal in their own way but man Stevie Wonder just blew that out of the water. As did Ray. So much heart!
It really just depended on what part of the song they were given to sing. If they had a mellow and understated part then they could not really belt it out like so,e others were able to, or it would not really fit in with the words of their line.
We will NEVER have anything like this again!! Such a NATIONAL TREASURE!! I remember it SO well the night it premiered!!♥️🙏
Brackin, we need to have a new video with new legends like Machine Gun Kelly, Justin Beiber, and the new gangsta version for today!
@@virnan there is a newer one, it's usa for hati
You will never see anything like this again? Wonder if they said that when the pohms did it before the USA ...... or any of the other concerts put in in times of need......
@@virnan Won't do as well. They tried it for Haiti & failed, not really, just not as special. 1985 was significant in music & without auto tune! Live Aid also happened in 1985.
The 80's was such a wonderful decade. True talent in that room right there!
2 of the most underrated Singers of all time James Ingram and Jeffrey Osborne 💯🎯
Fun fact: When this came out, it was played on radio stations all across the US at the same time! Gives me chills to think about it still today! Flipping through the dial to all kinds of radio stations all playing the same song.
I rem ember walking across campus while in college and this song playing on every radio station, wafting thru the air. It was amazing!
That is so cool! Never knew that! That would have been amazing to hear♥️ And also, in hindsight, my WORLD what a gathering of talent and absolutely amazing voices. I may have cried just a little (i think it was tears of joy and love for all of us 80’s kids out there!)
I totally remember that! I flipped to all the different stations and it was so cool to hear it on all of them.
MJ is not only in this song - he wrote this song together with Lionel Richie.
The third author of this song is the gentleman who was on the director's podium, legendary music artist, composer, producer and mogel, Quincy Jones.
The creator was bob geldof I believe it was his idea.
@@oscarbarahona9921 Sorry. But you're confusing things here. Bob Geldof was the main initiator of the "Band Aid" project. Quasi the "European version". Their song is called "Do They Know It's Christmas?".
they also wrote the song over night..
WIth input from Quincy Jones who was the conductor.
There will never be a meeting of legends all in one place to sing a song together like this again in history. This is a priceless moment in time
They don't have legends like that anymore
Still brings tears to my eyes just hearing their voices.
For an equivalent from the world of country, check out the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" featuring everyone from Johnny Cash and members of the Carter Family to some of the top bluegrass performers of all time like Earl Scruggs. ruclips.net/video/7bRJLkNqNXI/видео.html
AMEN!!
They remake it every decade. It's never as good as the original.
You have Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Steve Perry, Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and more, and you feel they are squeezin' their souls on every word and every verse...
It doesnt matter if you've listened a hundreds of times...always shakes to your very soul, what amazing combo of some of the greatest voices ever and these emotional melodies.
Full of LEGENDS of my day. Musical Prodigies all in one room.
A literal who’s who in music in the 80’s. Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson wrote the song together.
Still get goosebumps when Loggins and Perry parts are sung. Loggins very underrated voice then "The Voice" himself. We need this song played everywhere again!!! God Bless the 80's!!
Omg me too.
I guess kind of underrated, but also quite popular. He has had about 20 songs on the Hot 100 Billboard charts, 9 of which were in the top 20, and _Footloose_ reached #1, and he scored a couple of Grammys. It does surprise me that more of his songs weren't bigger hits, but to be fair, there's no denying that he was up against some titanic competition from his contemporaries in the heyday.
Im with you on The Voice , steve has an amazing gift . I loved the 80s , great , music , great fashion , and of course youth , I was in my teens back then . Roll on second time round !!!
I never noticed that Bruce cried. That's it.
Seems like a lifetime ago.
They all have great voices, but whenever I hear this song, I'm especially blown away by the voices of James Ingram, Steve Perry, and of course Cyndi Lauper, the f**king 80's goddess 👏👏👏😍
Steve Perry has me SHOOK every single time I listen to this song (and any of his songs lol). I would give my left pinky toe to hear this song with just his vocals :P
James Ingram was an absolute LEGEND!!
@@cfinley81 Totally agree👍
Y'all made me cry! Everytime I hear this song I cry my eyes out! Keep up the good work guys! Love you!
Back when we were proud as Americans to unite. This and Whitney Houston’s super bowl star spangled banner are two of my favorite teen moments ❤️

I remember being a kid in the 80's and holding hands and singing this across the while school. This meant something important We sang our hearts out for starving African families.
Unfortunately, most of the kids of our generation grew up and just stopped caring. We became selfish and self centered.
Cyndi gives me chills everytime! And Bruce Springsteen! Gosh that voice is rock gold
"Was that Stevie Wonder?" Not gonna lie; that stung a bit.😥
Same. Also when the great Diana Ross first sang. "Who is that?"
When Tina Turner stepped to the mic , " I don't think I know her"....ouch!!! LOL.
@@erikparker6501 That one hurt my heart. How in God's name have they not heard of Tina Turner? :O

i often cry when i hear these 80 s legends sing,, brings back so many memories of how great the 80s was for our country , music, and the world was at this time,, thats why the 80s is referred to as the greatest generation of music in history,,,, i sooo miss these days
Most of them are legends of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and we’re still strong in the 80s. But most made their names in the 60s-the greatest era of modern music.
@@hrussell9677

cyndi lauper has an incredible voice..... she made pop songs that didn't show off how great her voice really was AMAZING VOICE
we sang this song for an elementary school performance. i still remember the goosebumps i got as a 6 year old hearing this for the first time in chorus as a small child
We did too! I was in fifth grade. When it came out it was a huge hit.
Fun Side note on Springsteen in this video. He had just finished two nights in a row at the carrier dome in Syracuse NY where the shows were about 3 hours long. He jumped on a plane in the morning and flew to Los Angeles, rented a corvette then drove to the studio and parked across the street and was thrilled with the parking spot he got. Everyone else was brought in a Limo.
And that's why he's The Boss!
That's such a Bruce Springsteen thing to do.
No wonder he looks like he just woke up in the ditch. He could pass as a greaseball in The Outsiders.
@@virnan They were recording overnight ,12 midnight to 7 or 8 am
That’s how we Dirty Jersey folks roll ;)! he’s basically a god in our state :P he made a surprise appearance at a Coldplay concert on June 5th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and sang with Chris Martin. No one knew he was going to show up, and when they introduced him, I jumped 10 feet into the air out of my seat and nearly fainted LOL…he sang around 3 or 4 songs, some with Chris and some by himself, and you bet your butt I was scream-singing my head off the entire time. I’m 24 and the woman next to me was probably in her early 50s and we were both going wild. I find it so cool that Bruce is able to bring together multiple generations through our love of his music!
Never today would current artists be equal to the greats here. This and the UK Band Aid song Do they know its Christmas (that inspired this) highlighted the sheer musical quality of artists around in the 80s. Live Aid in 85 also showcased this.
I was in England that year and recorded LiveAid, because I had to work that day. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Dionne Warwick she is my favorite. Her voice in my opinion one of the most underrated singers ever. Forget the fact that so many of her family has gone on to be famous singers in their own right.
Dionne was Whitney Houston's auntie. Do you know the way to San Jose was great. Kenny Loggins in Footloose the movie. Great emergency for this one.
This song NEVER gets old! I wish they would re-launch it USA for USA! Need people to start loving each other again. Enjoyed your reaction.🎉🎉
For Cindy Lauper try “Time after time” or “True Colors”

How do you know when there is literally TOO much talent in a single room? When Bette Midler and Harry Belefonte are both present and do not get solos!
Especially when Bob Dylan, one of the greatest writers - and worst singers does! 🤡
I thought that too. Bette is a legend
I noticed that as well. Knew the song was great, lived through it and luved it like everyone, but to be reminded of just how much talent was put in one room, yeah it is special.
@@komments They gave Dylan way too much. And I'm not sure why.
RIGHT!!!
When this song came out it was a fantastic thing. Showed how we should get along instead of putting each other down.
This was at a time in history when I truly believe we ALL were beginning to genuinely come together. It wasn’t forced, and their was no agenda attached to it. Consciousness was think in the air. The collective awareness was blasting off. There was no “I’m better or more important than you” mentality here. Naturally, humans will come together… naturally, as we are all one! When moments like this happen, the powers that be, unfortunately, must throw a wrench into this natural advancement and human love, in order to find a way to divide and conquer. Which in itself is artificial, and an illusion. The illusion that we are apart from one another. Songs, like these, must never be forgotten about. As they are a reminder as to what we all really are, which is one infinite consciousness, connected to one another
I was surprised you didn't recognize Tina Turner. There's a female rock legend you should 100% react to.
Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick (whose cousin everyone should know - Whitney Houston), Diana Ross, even Bette Midler was there singing - check out her song "Wind Beneath My Wings".
Exactly, bring on some Tina Turner reactions, then YOU both will remember to never forget who she is
Turner for the hair, but she disappeared 30 years ago. Same for Midler with an exception for a soundtrack song. Ross basically did the same as far as the charts go, 40 years ago. Warwick was there as an ensemble but otherwise hasn't had a solo hit in about 38 years.
This IS people "discovering" these artists. I'm not going to bag on them for not recognizing any of these folks.
@@cobbler88 I saw Tina Turner live during her final tour some time after 2007. She still had it all then.
@@paysonbenefield1983 I saw some of the tape. Maybe it's just very limiting how much you can really dance wearing heels. :)
WOW!! This song is STILL extremely emotional to watch. It was a HUGE event when this was released. People were clued to their TVs to watch it. Everyone was singing it and naming the artists as they appeared on screen. This was a historic event, so many musical legends in the same place, on the same song and video at the same time. Many of them are gone now or stopped performing. Young people today missed out on some major talent, back in da day you had to know how to SAAANG, not JUST sing!! 😏
It's nice to see the younger generation enjoying and appreciate the legends
Back in the day when I remember the simplicity of great voices. Amazing voices, there are no artists like this these days.
A few folks have noted that “Who’s that ?” was the great Diana Ross, but you may know her as the lead singer for a little group of women called “The Supremes”. Hope you eventually get to hear them and Ms Ross.
I will forgive this over having no idea who Paul Simon is. Or Bob Dylan for that matter.
Diana Ross and Supremes were the sound of my childhood!
along with so many artists that went unknown, i am flabberghasted they never fit in a few words that Smokey Robinson could go solo for
Dream Girls, the movie is loosely based on the Supremes.
@@itscrazyal from what I recall reading at the time, Smokey actually wasn't invited to be a part of it, he just showed up because he'd heard about it through the grapevine. Nobody, not even Quincy Jones, was going to tell the great Smokey Robinson to leave, so he stayed. But all the solo parts had already been planned out in advance, so he just sang background with everyone else.
Watching this in 2021 is depressing. I still believe we can be this good. Maybe if we just stopped watching social media so close and our eyes so fixed on the news - it could be this way once again.
I wholeheartedly agree.

I am always amazed by this video. When you think about the talent that was in that room, all at once, working together. It's pure magic. One of the greatest moments in music history, as far as I'm concerned.
Omfg. I haven’t seen this since I was a kid and I can name every artist in this video. I’m swimming in tears right now. This is awesome. Thank you.
The person who you asked, “Who’s that?” Is Diana Ross and she is a MUST person to react to. She is an important historical figure in American music. She was originally a part of Diana Ross and the Supremes (Motown) and then she had a solo career and also had some duets. She and Michael had a special relationship. Actually, I think the Supremes were the “ladies” in another group first, but I’m not sure about that. She is much more historically important and every bit as talented as Cyndi Lauper, IMO and I ❤️ Cyndi!
If that person watches Blackish. . . Diana's daughter plays the mom.
@@bjohnson2143 No doubt? Cool trivia.

And of course, she was very important in Michael Jackson's life.
Diana was in 'The Supremes' before they broke up and she went solo. During a short regroup for them the act was Known as Diana Ross and The Supremes.
James Ingram was such a talented singer who sang just before Tina Turner and later featured solo towards the end of the song. James had hits like Just Once and had great duets with Patty Austin, Linda Ronstadt and the incredible Secret Garden song by Quincy Jones with James, El DeBarge, Al B. Sure and Barry White.

The part that makes me tear up is the few seconds of Harry Belafonte. He was the one who actually got the ball rolling on the American side. A legend- who's more than happy to just stand in the back row, and still belt his heart out. I also love that there's like 4 generations, so to speak, of artists here. You have the elder statesmen- Harry, Willie Nelson, Quincy Jones, Kenny Rogers, Bob Dylan....then the Stevie Wonders, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, Tina Turner.etc... then Billy Joel, Darryl Hall, Steve Perry, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, then the "new kids" of the 80s James Ingram, Huey Lewis, Kim Carnes, Cyndi Lauper (I know I forgot a few)

In my opinion, this is the greatest moment in music history. Unbelievable song. We need this today so badly.
One of the most powerful, beautiful compilations ever recorded. Decades later, and it still brings tears. ❤️
Amazing song, amazing voices…pure talent with no computer aided sound! The 70’s and 80’s had some amazing talent
A Kenny Rogers song that is guaranteed to get you shook is “Lady” the live version.
Kenny and Lionel on that one
Right after MJ, when you said who was that, that was Diana Ross. This video, still to this day, features more top-level mega superstars in one song and one video than anything ever recorded before or since. Just take a look at the lineup. After Diana Ross, there was Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, etc. That's also, Huey Lewis, Steve Perry from Journey, and I believe that's actually Quincy Jones of Motown fame directing the whole thing. Talk about a star-studded cast....
First and Last time in music history so many legends came together to produce a world changing song. I was 13 when this came out. Every school choir across the country sang it. I remember singing it with my choir, feeling a part of something so immense, so incredible it would never be repeated. And it hasn't been. I never get tired of this performance. And it as just as true today, if not more so, than it was then.
3rd time.
This was a response to Band Aid which came out MONTHS before. Even the Canadians beat America to the punch and the British/Irish collab was a much better song
Same thing happened at my school at the time, and it was in Brazil! EVERY KID in the school, inside their classes or in the playground, all singing at the same time... it was magical. It´s one of my fondest memories... of a better time, when we had hope, and not so much fear... :(
Beautiful & powerful... and will never happen again 😢 can you imagine the greatest artists of today putting their ego aside for the greater good? It would be something to behold ❤
I get chills every time I heart Steve Perry's voice
How, as adults, have we forgotten the message of this song.
i bet the people at Woodstock felt the same after they grew up too.
It only meant something at the time.
I love this and also the one done in the UK. Great collaboration and beautiful music with meaning!
I'm 47. I was 11 when this came out but I so agree with you.
Because nobody plays it on the radio and God is being surgically removed from society. Without God this song would not exist.
Just love when youngins finally hear our music 🎶
When people talk about the “Good Old Days”…..These artists made it “The Good Old Days”!!! Thanks so for this video. You two are adorable.
After the years, this song is still awesome. It touches your soul.
Okay... Here goes:
Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes (added the one I missed, lol), John Oates, Quincy Jones - who also produced the track, LaToya Jackson, Bob Dylan, Anita Pointer, Harry Belefonte, Dan Aykroyd, Ray Charles, Bette Midler, Jeffrey Osborne, Lindsey Buckingham, Ruth Pointer, June Pointer, Marlon Jackson, Randy Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Mario Cipollini, Sean Hopper, Johnny Colla, Bill Gibson, Chris Hayes, Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Waylon Jennings, and Smokey Robinson... amazing ensemble.
GREAT!!!! Way to GO!
Kim Carnes
Kim Carnes had those 2 words after Cyndi Lauper. "When We..."
Great Job!Saved me from making that list!!👍♥️
Man oh man you are good, how did you do that so fast!!
The magic was real. Every singer put heart and soul into the song because of the sincere desire to help starving children. Something so precious and rare, like a jewel that's only discovered once in a lifetime. I still get moved to tears
Makes me cry every time! ❣️🌹✌🏼😍
The thing I remember the most from that song was there was a simulcast all over the world. Literally thousands of radio stations played the song at exactly the same time. I remember sitting with my friends and just turning the dial and it was on every station. It was just a beautiful moment of unity.
The one guy everyone seems to miss is the guy in the back row next to Lindsey Buckingham is Elwood Blues himself Dan Aykroyd.
Yep - Lindsey from Fleetwood Mac! Young Akroyd …. So cool.
Also Quincy Jones is often missed
The reason Dan Akroyd was included in the video is he just happened to be hanging around & got invited to join.
Haha…I’m still convincing myself that he was digitally inserted.
How did I not recognize him. I should have, but he was so young looking there.
Haven't listened to this in some time. Goosebumps, crying and a tight chest. This is so powerful! I need to sit my kids down and show them this video to let them know these voices.
As far as collaborations go, vocally it is arguably the greatest group ever assembled and what a goosebump rollercoaster of a tune, i always have to listen to it twice when it comes on my spotify 🙏
When music was great and no auto-tuned voices.
Cyndi Lauper can really sing. And you should see her now at 70. She looks and sounds exactly the same. Her skin is flawless and I love to listen to her sing. Your mom is right!
I cried. no shit...Im a grown man.... looking ccol dude Samoan dude grew up in NZ living in Sydney...... oh man. wow.
When everyone sings with their heart, it’s beautiful! When Bruce Springsteen sings he does it with his heart and his guts: and it becomes big! Respect for the Boss!
Still makes me cry to this day and yes Cindy can bring it. They all can !
They are all legends in their own right and all of them together for this is truly historic!
I graduated 8th grade when this song came out. We had to sing it at every assembly and at graduation. I forget how phenomenal it was.
Cyndi Lauper is one of the Queen's!!!!! Give her a real good listen!! A LOT more then "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"!!!!!
They story is that they recorded this after one of the awards shows……that was the only way to get them all together and they went straight from the awards show to the studio and stayed up all night to finish this on their own time! It was amazing!
Quincy Jones put this together. It was an amazing collaboration of talent....besides micheal...so many names to list. Such a feeling of love
When they recorded this song, they had a big sign at the entrance to the studio that read, "Check your ego at the door". Outstanding.
This song touched me so deeply, around 7-8 years old , and 40 years later.. i still feel the same as that little kid about it .. Also, Im regularly angry about how 40 years passed, and nothing really changed.
As a combat veteran, I'm setting here with tears running down my face, everytime I hear it. I so proud of you for playing alot of the older music that these young kids no nothing about and probably wouldn't know anything about if it wasn't for you. Now a days I don't consider it music, this modern day stuff, that is. Once again thank you for ALL that you do.
Why can’t old people just enjoy things without going after the younger generations? Life has made you bitter huh 😂
From a family of veterans, Thank you for your service!
@@damianl680 Because we know great treasure has not been passed on to the younger generation and what was precious has mostly been lost and we would have better for you. (52). Please consider the difference between music today that talks about sweat down a woman's crack versus, Lionel Richie's Stuck on You. We would not have your generation shortchanged. It is a slightly different spelling, but have you ever read the book "Demian" by Herman Hesse? Maybe check it out. A classic, I would not want you to miss. One day they will outlaw it and burn it if allowed. :)
Thank you for your service Leonard. My Father left Penn to serve in Korea. I am crippled as a civilian. I have always served in my heart. Grew up near Valley Forge. We will bring the old music back, we will. If you ever see a book, "Not Going Home Alone," it was written by a Marine who was my father's friend and a teacher for me in college. Never could finish. Life too hard. He had it rougher. He lost both legs. I love the heart of these two. Do take care.
@@chariotreign ahh yes because that’s the only kind of music available today 😂 your old ass heard that song a long time ago and you’re still upset about it 😂 You know the generation before you thought the same thing right?
“True colors”, and “Time after time “.
For the Cindy Lauper songs she’s also friggin Hilarious! Watch her on interviews
“All through the night” is great too
❤️❤️❤️Cindy❤️❤️❤️
The message: We are One
So many beautiful souls on one stage. A shining moment in rock/pop history. I was blessed to grow up listening to these wonderful artists.
They are all legends of their eras 60’s, 70’s and 80’s a group of singers singing together to help Africa and they accomplished this great song in one night. They were told by Quincy Jones to leave their egos at the door and they did. Some flew in but a lot of them were just coming from an awards ceremony. They all sang their hearts out until they were they got it right and little did they know then the master piece they just made. This was written by Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones. I thank my luck stars I was blessed to be a part of an era that had the most awesome singers with great vocal. I loved the reaction from you’s two!
