That list is awesome and especially now many years later when so many younger people will not recognize many of the truly amazing performers that contributed. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
And if you want a laugh, search for Graham Norton Show w/ Seth McFarlane and Cindi Lauper. Seth sings those two songs with Peter and Stewie Griffin's voices. Only thing that would have been funnier is if he had sung "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "She Bop" with Glenn Quagmire's voice.
Well since you always are trying to figure out what the song you're reacting to is really about... I'd recommend "She Bop". But don't bring the kids. :D
This is probably the single greatest assembly of musical talent ever! Each singer is/was the epitome of the genres they contributed to; but collectively singing the same song, they were magic.
Yeah right...lol...I'm blown away by how much they are missing...I have a son and all I hear is rap..I don't mind some of the rap music but not...lol..if U get me...I don't understand what they are singing about these day..but yes love this comment
Bruce Springsteen with Stevie Wonder killed it for me!! I don't care what anyone says they all killed it, but Bruce Springsteen sung it like he was in pain, especially the part where he says, "there's a choice we're making and we're saving our own lives"! I have never seen somebody sing with such passion, so much so until you could see the pain on his face!! Love Bruce Springsteen's voice!! When he first come in with "We are the world, we are the children"! Lord, I used to watch that part over and over again!!!
They added Bruce and Stevie later (sort of duet part) after main part was done.quincy thought something extra was needed, he actually called them back after most had left. EXCELLENT CHOICE I DO BELIEVE
LOL!!! I was like "WHAT??!!!" But then I reminded myself that younger generations might not be familiar with artists from before their time. Still...WHAT???!!!

Dan and John Belushi (SNL)(The Blues Brothers) had a huge hit Soundtrack album at the time. I believe this was right around the time John died. Everyone there was a superstar and it's amazing how many of them agreed to just be in the chorus without having a solo line. Prince was invited but declined.

Still get goosebumps when Loggins and Perry parts are sung. Loggins very underrated voice then "The Voice" himself. We need this song played everywhere again!!! God Bless the 80's!!
I guess kind of underrated, but also quite popular. He has had about 20 songs on the Hot 100 Billboard charts, 9 of which were in the top 20, and _Footloose_ reached #1, and he scored a couple of Grammys. It does surprise me that more of his songs weren't bigger hits, but to be fair, there's no denying that he was up against some titanic competition from his contemporaries in the heyday.
Im with you on The Voice , steve has an amazing gift . I loved the 80s , great , music , great fashion , and of course youth , I was in my teens back then . Roll on second time round !!!
The person who you asked, “Who’s that?” Is Diana Ross and she is a MUST person to react to. She is an important historical figure in American music. She was originally a part of Diana Ross and the Supremes (Motown) and then she had a solo career and also had some duets. She and Michael had a special relationship. Actually, I think the Supremes were the “ladies” in another group first, but I’m not sure about that. She is much more historically important and every bit as talented as Cyndi Lauper, IMO and I ❤️ Cyndi!

@@itscrazyal from what I recall reading at the time, Smokey actually wasn't invited to be a part of it, he just showed up because he'd heard about it through the grapevine. But all the solo parts had already been planned out in advance, so he just sang background with everyone else.

Fun Side note on Springsteen in this video. He had just finished two nights in a row at the carrier dome in Syracuse NY where the shows were about 3 hours long. He jumped on a plane in the morning and flew to Los Angeles, rented a corvette then drove to the studio and parked across the street and was thrilled with the parking spot he got. Everyone else was brought in a Limo.
That’s how we Dirty Jersey folks roll ;)! he’s basically a god in our state :P he made a surprise appearance at a Coldplay concert on June 5th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and sang with Chris Martin. No one knew he was going to show up, and when they introduced him, I jumped 10 feet into the air out of my seat and nearly fainted LOL…he sang around 3 or 4 songs, some with Chris and some by himself, and you bet your butt I was scream-singing my head off the entire time. I’m 24 and the woman next to me was probably in her early 50s and we were both going wild. I find it so cool that Bruce is able to bring together multiple generations through our love of his music!
An old English man here with tears streaming both with admiration for these iconic artists and the fact you didn't experience them and don't recognise them. These artists are what shaped the music you listen too. Legends
Fun fact: When this came out, it was played on radio stations all across the US at the same time! Gives me chills to think about it still today! Flipping through the dial to all kinds of radio stations all playing the same song.
That is so cool! Never knew that! That would have been amazing to hear♥️ And also, in hindsight, my WORLD what a gathering of talent and absolutely amazing voices. I may have cried just a little (i think it was tears of joy and love for all of us 80’s kids out there!)
Never today would current artists be equal to the greats here. This and the UK Band Aid song Do they know its Christmas (that inspired this) highlighted the sheer musical quality of artists around in the 80s. Live Aid in 85 also showcased this.
Watching this in 2021 is depressing. I still believe we can be this good. Maybe if we just stopped watching social media so close and our eyes so fixed on the news - it could be this way once again.
They raised $25 million but people are still starving in Africa. A bunch of rich people who did a good thing but had a minimal impact. Throwing money at deep problems is almost always ineffective. Sad but true.
Every single voice in this song is precious and just phenomenal in their own way but man Stevie Wonder just blew that out of the water. As did Ray. So much heart!
It really just depended on what part of the song they were given to sing. If they had a mellow and understated part then they could not really belt it out like so,e others were able to, or it would not really fit in with the words of their line.
WOW!! This song is STILL extremely emotional to watch. It was a HUGE event when this was released. People were clued to their TVs to watch it. Everyone was singing it and naming the artists as they appeared on screen. This was a historic event, so many musical legends in the same place, on the same song and video at the same time. Many of them are gone now or stopped performing. Young people today missed out on some major talent, back in da day you had to know how to SAAANG, not JUST sing!! 😏
I noticed that as well. Knew the song was great, lived through it and luved it like everyone, but to be reminded of just how much talent was put in one room, yeah it is special.
Okay... Here goes: Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes (added the one I missed, lol), John Oates, Quincy Jones - who also produced the track, LaToya Jackson, Bob Dylan, Anita Pointer, Harry Belefonte, Dan Aykroyd, Ray Charles, Bette Midler, Jeffrey Osborne, Lindsey Buckingham, Ruth Pointer, June Pointer, Marlon Jackson, Randy Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Mario Cipollini, Sean Hopper, Johnny Colla, Bill Gibson, Chris Hayes, Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Waylon Jennings, and Smokey Robinson... amazing ensemble.
You have Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Steve Perry, Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and more, and you feel they are squeezin' their souls on every word and every verse... It doesnt matter if you've listened a hundreds of times...always shakes to your very soul, what amazing combo of some of the greatest voices ever and these emotional melodies.
It would take a lifetime to go through each artists music history that's in that room. I've got more days behind me then in front of me now and in my lifetime I've been blessed to witness all of them☮️❤️☮️
Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick (whose cousin everyone should know - Whitney Houston), Diana Ross, even Bette Midler was there singing - check out her song "Wind Beneath My Wings".
Turner for the hair, but she disappeared 30 years ago. Same for Midler with an exception for a soundtrack song. Ross basically did the same as far as the charts go, 40 years ago. Warwick was there as an ensemble but otherwise hasn't had a solo hit in about 38 years. This IS people "discovering" these artists. I'm not going to bag on them for not recognizing any of these folks.
They all have great voices, but whenever I hear this song, I'm especially blown away by the voices of James Ingram, Steve Perry, and of course Cyndi Lauper, the f**king 80's goddess 👏👏👏😍
Steve Perry has me SHOOK every single time I listen to this song (and any of his songs lol). I would give my left pinky toe to hear this song with just his vocals :P
Being an old guy who remembers when this was released, it warms my heart to see you reacting to these musical artists who could be so easily forgotten. This is such a great way to learn about all these people who continue to influence music and culture.
Right after MJ, when you said who was that, that was Diana Ross. This video, still to this day, features more top-level mega superstars in one song and one video than anything ever recorded before or since. Just take a look at the lineup. After Diana Ross, there was Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, etc. That's also, Huey Lewis, Steve Perry from Journey, and I believe that's actually Quincy Jones of Motown fame directing the whole thing. Talk about a star-studded cast....
Keep in mind everyone of those artists were at the top of their game at this time. If you watch behind the scenes no ego, they all came together for this song. Try and do that Today good luck. As for Cindy a great song to hear from her is True Colors, great song but shows her at her best.
I remember the top artist did something similar, as in coming together to sing after 9/11 back in 2001. I'm sure top artists of today's time would come together to perform together as well if prompted. they do it all the time just for fun, especially on zoom/ video conference just for fun, so they would do it for a travesty or fundraiser
Not entirely true, but it was a good turnout. We can't really say that the "That's What Friends Are For" cast was at the top of its game. But to get this sort of turnout today, they'd first all have to appear at the awards ceremony. For that to happen, the awards ceremony would have to actually mean something again. A lot of dominoes would have to fall before we even get to ego. I wouldn't put "True Colors" out there as a singer's song. I recommend some of her tracks from "Hatful of Stars" (1993). Kind of just out of being really famous and before kind of disappearing. The general sentiment is a good one, though.
@@kirstenlandon3043 There are probably more legends than people who were at the top of their game at the time. Quite a few were pretty much done hitting the charts at that point. A few didn't yet know it tho. 😁

A brief History of how this came out. In 1983 a famine broke out in Ethiopia. A Canadian reporter broke the story. It got play in the UK. Bob Gelolf, of the Boomtown Rats, wanted to help, so Irish and British musicians got together to perform a song called Do they know it’s Christmas, written by Bob. David Foster, a famous music producer and writer, heard of it and thought Canada should do one. As a result Tears are not enough was recorded in the same manner as the British one. It raised 3 million dollars ( Canadian). America followed suit and USA for Africa was done. Geldof, an Irishman, was honorary knighted in 1990, by Queen Elizabeth the second, in 1990 for all the work he did for famine relief. Stay safe, stay sane, be well
Actually, the report that Bob Geldof's then live in girlfriend, Paula Yates saw was by Michael Buerke, of the BBC. Bob then phoned Midge Ure of Ultravox who co-wrote and Co-produced the song, 'Do they know it's Christmas'. It was a joint effort. Though Bob was the louder driving force, Midge did just as much. They then went on to organise Live Aid in 1985.
You did this one way too early in your musical journey. Once you've discovered the talents of each of the artists in here, and listened to at least three songs each from them, you really can't appreciate what a remarkable assemblage of talent this was - certainly something we'll never see again.
i agree. it would be fun for them to revisit this song once they became familiar with more of the artists in this video and i think they would enjoy it more.
Totally agree. But it must be difficult for these reaction video makers to follow any sort of musical chronology like we all did in real time by living through it.
I remember being a kid in the 80's and holding hands and singing this across the while school. This meant something important We sang our hearts out for starving African families.

Wowww!.. A blast from my childhood! All of them are legends! They're just aren't artist like them anymore. This was the quintessential example of perfect harmony both lyrically and in unity! Awesome videos guys!
Dionne Warwick she is my favorite. Her voice in my opinion one of the most underrated singers ever. Forget the fact that so many of her family has gone on to be famous singers in their own right.
I struggle every day to understand why we all were hand in hand all those years ago to embrace our diversity, yet today they want us to believe we were not embracing each other all along!
Yes it is sad...and Imagine by Lennon was even earlier than this but 40+ years later we are still divided...other countries are leaps and bounds ahead of the US
because the same old people who were in charge then are still in charge now, and they create the narratives they benefit most from. Watching this as a kid live, I had such hope for the future, I still do. Together, we can make a change!
You mean how we all generally got along and how blacks were actually continuing to make strides back when we didn't insert race into every little thing?

Well, I'm glad to see that the artists in the US where inspired by the UK artists who raised money for Africa with "Do they Know it's Christmas ~ Band Aid 1984" and to do the same a year later on with bringing the artists in the US together for the same cause.... You should do a review on "Do they Know it's Christmas ~ Band Aid 1984" because they where the first with the idea to unite artist to help the situation in Africa, more particularly Ethiopia at that moment.

They recognized the ones they've done reaction videos on, so I commend them for being quick learners (and rememberers!) and hopefully once they've seen and heard them all they'll pass that knowledge along to their children. James had hits like Just Once and had great duets with Patty Austin, Linda Ronstadt and the incredible Secret Garden song by Quincy Jones with James, El DeBarge, Al B. Sure and Barry White.
I love how everybody's kind of dressed casual like they just got a call "come on over and let's do a video" and then there's Michael... but of course that's got to be casual wear for Michael
They story is that they recorded this after one of the awards shows……that was the only way to get them all together and they went straight from the awards show to the studio and stayed up all night to finish this on their own time! It was amazing!
No .. The greatest collab of all time is the UK's "Do They Know It's Christmas" for the same appeal.. USA's only happened because the British one only involved British stars and the USA was pissed off they weren't involved.
Yep. A perfect match, every voice unique yet perfectly blending w/ the ensemble, not a single 'so-so' call, at a time where there was not auto tune, real music, real singers. The UK song was cool and a fine and beautiful effort but this Quincy Jones/MJ song is IMO infinitely better, way superior from the musical standpoint, a much better vehicle for each of the unique solo voices, musically richer, soulful, warmer and much better production/recording quality.
@@teelurizzo8542 The UK one was a flurry of last minute phone calls to 100's of prominent British artists. Whoever showed up *InTime* the next day appeared on the vid and on the song. Every time I listen to this song, I remember the day in Chicago when the majority of radio stations, AM and FM, played it at the same time. I was looking forward to the broadcast; it was a local event. As I listened, I switched from station to station. Just hearing the song being played on so many outlets at the same time thrilled me! It was the first time I understood that we, all humans, are connected. The diversity of the group, the message of the song, the local stations, playing as one. It was a special moment for me. I wish we would all come together like that now.
We can come together again, but not by force. If it's left alone again, left to just flow, we can get there. Those pulling the strings, will NEVER let it happen again.
This was at a time in history when I truly believe we ALL were beginning to genuinely come together. It wasn’t forced, and their was no agenda attached to it. Consciousness was think in the air. The collective awareness was blasting off. There was no “I’m better or more important than you” mentality here. Naturally, humans will come together… naturally, as we are all one! When moments like this happen, the powers that be, unfortunately, must throw a wrench into this natural advancement and human love, in order to find a way to divide and conquer. Which in itself is artificial, and an illusion. The illusion that we are apart from one another. Songs, like these, must never be forgotten about. As they are a reminder as to what we all really are, which is one infinite consciousness, connected to one another
I remember when this was made and I felt so hopeful for the human race then. After the last couple of years here in America, I keep asking myself, "What happened?" Where did all of the hatred come from? I'm one of the youngest left of the baby boomers, but I want to encourage all of the younger people out there to make a stand for peace and tolerance. The love of music is such a wonderful place to start because amazing music knows no race, religion, or sex barrier. It's just great music and it moves each of us so deeply. Thanks for letting me share this, here in this forum!
Sadly politicians & the media are hammering down 💯 % to try to divide us😞I still believe we are truly United more than divided if only people would turn them off💞

The (former) lead singer of Journey is Steve Perry. He has an amazing voice. Almost every artist has a very distinct or recognizable voice. They wanted artists who most people would recognize when they heard the song on the radio. The lady who sang with Michael Jackson is Diana Ross. The guy with the voice like a freight train is Bruce Sprinsteen (also sings with Stevie Wonder here) Don't think there will ever be a collection of talent in one room like this ever again.
Cyndi became involved in the LGBQ+ community because so many fans wrote to share their stories and tell her that her song True Colours literally saved their lives.

Great job with the list. Allstar team if there ever was one.
That list is awesome and especially now many years later when so many younger people will not recognize many of the truly amazing performers that contributed.
Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Thanks... I had them all but three.

Great job listing !!!
When he asked who Diana Ross was a part of me died inside lol
Diana and Dionne were about 3 metres away from their mics! :)
Wow that did hurt
And Stevie Wonder 😬
I was like how old are they lol
Yeah the two that I was surprised on was her and Tina Turner.
Cyndi Lauper-Time After Time and True Colors really showcase her beautiful voice!
I want to second these as these really were standouts in her career.
Well since you always are trying to figure out what the song you're reacting to is really about... I'd recommend "She Bop". But don't bring the kids. :D
Yes, these songs!
Was just coming here to suggest these. I love these songs and they always make me cry a little.
This is probably the single greatest assembly of musical talent ever! Each singer is/was the epitome of the genres they contributed to; but collectively singing the same song, they were magic.
Even a similar setup today with current artists wouldn't hold a candle to this.

Dionne Warwick, Bob Dylan
Forget Beyonce.... Diana Ross is the queen of pop. Her and MJ, perfection. So much talent in the studio that night.
Michael Jackson grew up listening to Diana Ross and idolized her and on this song he got to sing a short duet with her, a dream fulfilled.
Surprised they didn't recognize Tina Turner or Diana Ross. They need to hit some eary vids of Tina on stage.
It will never be matched again.
Donna Summer had pipes like I had never heard, but Diana is the tops, and they weren't in studio together!
No autotune back then. You actually had to have talent.
How is it possible that I've watched this song probably 1000 times and it still brings tears to my eyes? Such Unity!!!
It couldn't happen today. We're too divided. It's sad really
Me too

The power of music. This song always makes me shed some precipitation
Same here!
They were my favorite too. 😁 I wish they would have collaborated more.
You can actually see a tear dropping from his eye during that part
Yes ! STEVIE & BRUCE ! Who would have thought they would have made such a duo ? Absolutely NOTHING compares !
They added Bruce and Stevie later (sort of duet part) after main part was done.quincy thought something extra was needed, he actually called them back after most had left. EXCELLENT CHOICE I DO BELIEVE

“Who is that?” When Diana Ross sang is a prosecutable offense
LOL!!! I was like "WHAT??!!!" But then I reminded myself that younger generations might not be familiar with artists from before their time. Still...WHAT???!!!
@etmxd But still...come on 😂
More people know Kenny Rogers than Diana Ross. LOL
Absolutely!

There will never be a meeting of legends all in one place to sing a song together like this again in history. This is a priceless moment in time
They don't have legends like that anymore

They remake it every decade. It's never as good as the original.
Seeing Dan Aykroyd in there never fails to make me laugh. He's on a mission from God.
I laughed as well, but Dan can sing. Although he probably doesn't deserve to be in that elite crew.
He was sent by The Penguin.

His Dwight Schrute cosplay, 20 years early, always catches me off guard.

Still get goosebumps when Loggins and Perry parts are sung. Loggins very underrated voice then "The Voice" himself. We need this song played everywhere again!!! God Bless the 80's!!
Omg me too.

I will forgive this over having no idea who Paul Simon is. Or Bob Dylan for that matter.
Diana Ross and Supremes were the sound of my childhood!
along with so many artists that went unknown, i am flabberghasted they never fit in a few words that Smokey Robinson could go solo for
Dream Girls, the movie is loosely based on the Supremes.
@@itscrazyal from what I recall reading at the time, Smokey actually wasn't invited to be a part of it, he just showed up because he'd heard about it through the grapevine.

Y'all made me cry! Everytime I hear this song I cry my eyes out! Keep up the good work guys! Love you!
The one guy everyone seems to miss is the guy in the back row next to Lindsey Buckingham is Elwood Blues himself Dan Aykroyd.
Yep - Lindsey from Fleetwood Mac! Young Akroyd …. So cool.
Also Quincy Jones is often missed
The reason Dan Akroyd was included in the video is he just happened to be hanging around & got invited to join.
Haha…I’m still convincing myself that he was digitally inserted.
How did I not recognize him. I should have, but he was so young looking there.
“True colors”, and “Time after time “.
For the Cindy Lauper songs she’s also friggin Hilarious! Watch her on interviews
“All through the night” is great too
❤️❤️❤️Cindy❤️❤️❤️
Stay safe, stay sane, be well
Thank you! It's been a while & I couldn't remember how it all started! I was gonna go look it up but you had the info ready! 😁
Bob Gelolf...Also of Live Aid fame.
@@beandean23 Geldof.
2 of the most underrated Singers of all time James Ingram and Jeffrey Osborne 💯🎯
How, as adults, have we forgotten the message of this song.
i bet the people at Woodstock felt the same after they grew up too.
It only meant something at the time.
I love this and also the one done in the UK. Great collaboration and beautiful music with meaning!
I'm 47. I was 11 when this came out but I so agree with you.
Because nobody plays it on the radio and God is being surgically removed from society. Without God this song would not exist.
Most legendary lineup you'll ever see. Unbelievable assembly of talent.
This was epic! You might not have heard of some but you know a few. It will always be a stand out! How many can you pick out just by their voice
Well said👍
Totally agree. But it must be difficult for these reaction video makers to follow any sort of musical chronology like we all did in real time by living through it.
I remember being a kid in the 80's and holding hands and singing this across the while school. This meant something important We sang our hearts out for starving African families.
Unfortunately, most of the kids of our generation grew up and just stopped caring. We became selfish and self centered.
Old enough to know every artist in that room, including the conductor; Quincy Jones. That once in a lifetime gathering should provide "U2" with years of exploration! Luv your stuff!
Wowww!.. A blast from my childhood! All of them are legends! They're just aren't artist like them anymore. This was the quintessential example of perfect harmony both lyrically and in unity! Awesome videos guys!
Don’t make them like that anymore bravo
They are all legends in their own right and all of them together for this is truly historic!
Dionne Warwick she is my favorite. Her voice in my opinion one of the most underrated singers ever. Forget the fact that so many of her family has gone on to be famous singers in their own right.
Dionne was Whitney Houston's auntie. Do you know the way to San Jose was great. Kenny Loggins in Footloose the movie. Great emergency for this one.
A Kenny Rogers song that is guaranteed to get you shook is “Lady” the live version.
Kenny and Lionel on that one
I struggle every day to understand why we all were hand in hand all those years ago to embrace our diversity, yet today they want us to believe we were not embracing each other all along!
Yes it is sad...and Imagine by Lennon was even earlier than this but 40+ years later we are still divided...other countries are leaps and bounds ahead of the US
SO MUCH THIS!
because the same old people who were in charge then are still in charge now, and they create the narratives they benefit most from. Watching this as a kid live, I had such hope for the future, I still do. Together, we can make a change!
You mean how we all generally got along and how blacks were actually continuing to make strides back when we didn't insert race into every little thing?
@@pureforce469 The U.S. is the worst at race relations ... until you look at pretty much every other country on the planet.
Ray Charles and Willie Nelson Seven Spanish Angels is worth a listen. It’s amazing.
This song NEVER gets old! I wish they would re-launch it USA for USA! Need people to start loving each other again. Enjoyed your reaction.🎉🎉
I remember that day it came out. I cried through it. I wish life was like that now. When I was younger there was a thing that was called Hands Across America! Everyone from around the world grabbed the hand next to them. My dad would not let me go. So there was a big circle of hands across America. People actually help people in need. I miss that.
Me too. Kinder, more united times in the states.
That's what it was! I remember....
Money was not for Africa. The cause was for Ethiopia. The West only has worthless paper money to offer.
@@yardleyj9391 Correct, that's what I wrote "more particularly Ethiopia at that moment."
This is the entire line up from the first Band Aid, amazing that all USA "First Time Hearing" channels are turning a blind eye for this, and hard for me to understand why?!...

@@yuminashi I agree the neglect of that is annoying. Live Aid in 85 was organised by Geldof. And there were new Band Aid singers every decade. Other British charity singles after that included Let It Be and Ferry Cross the Mersey, both decent records as well.
It’s sad to me the number of stars you did not recognize. A room full of genius there.
They recognized the ones they've done reaction videos on, so I commend them for being quick learners (and rememberers!) and hopefully once they've seen and heard them all they'll pass that knowledge along to their children. Although those of us who lived the experience will all be gone in a generation or two, perhaps there's hope that the music will live on.
@@dougkydur9841 I agree. It seemed like they had no idea who Tina Turner or Dionne Warwick were. No mention of Bob Dillion or Bruce Springsteen even though both had pretty big parts. There were a ton of absolute legends on that stage that didn't even get a solo part like Bette Midler. And they new Michael but did they recognize the rest of the Jackson siblings. I'm starting to feel pretty Old.
I had my share fist making watching this.😁
I felt the same for a minute, but then I thought maybe they didn't grow up listening to this kind of music 🤷🏿♀️.
I was just thinking that too..these are some of the biggest stars and such talented singers and they did not recognize them. Well, at least they are listening to the song.
Every radio station should play that atleast once a day.Americans love and we want to help. The world needs help and most Americans try to give what they can. Love you all. And love you my brothers and sisters from the army, navy, air force, marines, and coast guards. If not for the military none of this would be possible. Sailors aways.
The thing I remember the most from that song was there was a simulcast all over the world. Literally thousands of radio stations played the song at exactly the same time. I remember sitting with my friends and just turning the dial and it was on every station. It was just a beautiful moment of unity.
Cyndi Lauper can really sing. And you should see her now at 70. She looks and sounds exactly the same. Her skin is flawless and I love to listen to her sing. Your mom is right!
When music was great and no auto-tuned voices.
James Ingram was such a talented singer who sang just before Tina Turner and later featured solo towards the end of the song. James had hits like Just Once and had great duets with Patty Austin, Linda Ronstadt and the incredible Secret Garden song by Quincy Jones with James, El DeBarge, Al B. Sure and Barry White.
I loved James Ingram. He was a force indeed.
@@edinsyracuse1669 Absolutely
I love how everybody's kind of dressed casual like they just got a call "come on over and let's do a video" and then there's Michael... but of course that's got to be casual wear for Michael
True story they had just come from a Grammy award ceremony and they changed quickly . You should watch the making of the video .
They story is that they recorded this after one of the awards shows……that was the only way to get them all together and they went straight from the awards show to the studio and stayed up all night to finish this on their own time! It was amazing!
After the years, this song is still awesome. It touches your soul.
cyndi lauper has an incredible voice..... she made pop songs that didn't show off how great her voice really was AMAZING VOICE
Greatest Musical Collab of All Time, hands down!!!
The production value is as real and as instant as can be done. The US version was organised weeks or even months in advance and the production was weeks in the making. Reality v's Hollywood slick.. I'll take the REAL over the Hollywood any day.
@@stelsewhere11 Quincy Jones and Micheal Jackson might be famous but would hardly be classified as 'Hollywood' - (this prejudiced, envious, chip on the shoulder full of hangups broad stroke generalizing term used by rightwing nuts and woke progressive leftists alike to try and 'cancel out' people w/ dissenting voices out of legitimate debates, via an illegitimate non-argument'). This Punk rock 'raw is better' attitude might fly in punk rock circles and while I admire the fact that the ( as according to you) hastily put together UK version is a fine effort, the fact that the US version was done in a more deliberate, planned way doesn't make it 'less real' or less musical' or 'less sincere' than the UK one.
@@teelurizzo8542 Firstly the "according to you" part is a matter of public record - Google is your friend.
The Punk rock part - The Sex Pistols and the Clash etc happened and were successful DESPITE corporate (Hollywood) attempts to steal the Peoples voice.
The "envy" came from the USA as the British version topped the US charts and the "We Are the World" was a direct result of that Envy.
The "Woke/Right/Leftist" part - Says you're a follower rather than an individual. Your diatribe of jealousy would embarrass the likes of Joe Strummer and John Lydon. CRINGE.
This video never fails to bring tears to my eyes. So many amazing voices. Beautiful song and such a varied group of artists...all singing together to help people a world away.

"That's What Friends Are For"
Another great video with major star power.
YESSS!!!
Check out as well, “Tears Are Not Enough” with Canada’s best.
I was in Philly at the time and they did the same, all radio stations played the song at the same time
Icons ...never again will all these legends be together 😪heaven is jamming😭🙏
Sadly politicians & the media are hammering down 💯 % to try to divide us😞I still believe we are truly United more than divided if only people would turn them off💞
If you haven’t heard of a group called Pentatonix please try them. They did a cover of John Lennon’s song Imagine. What they did with that song fits in with your comments. Prepare to be amazed!
Truth!!you tell it like it is.
We could ALL use even a fraction if this hope today.I cried when I saw this the original time, and still cry today. It's beautiful!!!💖🌍✌
Quincy Jones put this together. It was an amazing collaboration of talent....besides micheal...so many names to list. Such a feeling of love
Cyndi gives me chills everytime! And Bruce Springsteen! Gosh that voice is rock gold
Steve Perry is the lead singer from Journey 😉 and yes, that was him

If you’re looking for a great Cyndi Lauper song, check out “True Colors”. Her live versions are AMAZING!
Cyndi became involved in the LGBQ+ community because so many fans wrote to share their stories and tell her that her song True Colours literally saved their lives.
She did an amazing, unorthodox Star Spangled version at a Mets game a while back that was really catchy and was amazing.
I get chills every time I heart Steve Perry's voice
Back in the day when I remember the simplicity of great voices. Amazing voices, there are no artists like this these days.
