While I understand where you're coming from, I just want to suggest that while it may not be Rin' in its pure form, it's still accomplishing Rin's mission: to bring traditional Japanese music into a contemporary world. By combining with Lisa Loeb, not only do they create a unique sound, but they also help spread the beauty of Japanese music to countries outside Japan. Beyond that, they meld the styles quite nicely, crossing time periods, and really promoting a sense of unity.
I thought that the main purpose of RIN' is the the fusion of traditional Japanese instruments and style to modern times, so I do not think they will be a pure Japanese form but a creation of new style. Love them, I wish they will come back....
That's Mana, of Rin', playing the koto. The other koto player (who appears just after her) is Chie, and the biwa and shakuhachi player (who appears just before, with the biwa) is Tomoca. (stylized to use a "c" instead of a "k")
What do you mean? This was a song made for the Japanese Animation "Seven Samurai" which is based on the classic black & white Samurai film of the same name. The plot is a princess of a terrorised village set out to find seven heroes to help protect her village from these bandit/raiders. when you know that, the lyrics make absolute sense..
I loved the song first time I heard it, searched for it at the time...no luck. I figured it was new so I'd give it some time. Well here I am searching again and still no luck. Anyone want to share? I want this song on my ipod....BAD!
Oh its Avex (4:01) no wonder lol. They promote Japanese and American songs. They also promote my dad's music. Everyone knows Avex Entertainment in Japan but not so sure about in the states.
i actually put words there but i don't remember what i put nor do i know why there is a negative there. i like this song but along with everybody i can say this is to western. I love Rin' . i would say she is on my favorites.
I like the song. Despite the westernization it comes to me as a creative mix, and Lisa's voice is nice, not great, but nice. The lyrics may be simple but it doesn't neccisarily need to be complicated, it's telling a simple story. I find I like the mixture.
lol ""艺妓" style band i love the lyric made by 古筝和琵笆..... 浔阳江头夜送客,枫叶荻花秋瑟瑟。 主人下马客在船,举酒欲饮无管弦。 醉不成欢惨将别,别时茫茫江浸月。 忽闻水上琵琶声,主人忘归客不发。 寻声暗问弹者谁?琵琶声停欲语迟。 移船相近邀相见,添酒回灯重开宴。 千呼万唤始出来,犹抱琵琶半遮面。 妙!妙!
I completely agree. I had my friend listen to some of their stuff tonight (she had never heard them before), and we thought the same thing. Back when I was in high school and I heard them for the first time, I fell in love and although I own this album, I prefer them on their own doing their own stuff :/ On this album they totally seem like a backup band...lame sauce >_o
Very cute concept with the jewelery box and Rin' sitting and playing in it.
one on the best colaboration between 2 good musicians
Wow, I'm a big LL fan and I never knew this existed. Great!

Well said. My only disagreement is working with Lisa Loeb. What I would hope for is a collaboration that would give Rin's work a wider audience.
Le melange des genres, l'instrumental Japonais and American voice c'est kawaii :-)

It's funny that I just found out it was Lisa Loeb singing the song after listening to it all these years.

Lisa loeb with a visble bra *head explodes* *cough* err drool aside, awesome song, anti-hero's needed a good theme song
The song is a western market crossover and distorts the heart of what Rin's music is about.
who is the beauty at 1:38 ?
Could you send it to me, too? XD I'll love you forever!
I shall forever despise frank zapa for spawning the bastard who married Lisa Loeb

i like it but some of the lyrics are goofy lol "So she took down the villain and the kingdom is chillin and the after party was so good" lmao
Is this an anime song????? Which anime ?
Who cares about the clothes. Who cares about east or west. It's just two humans making music.
i normally like rin's tunes...but not this...sorry.....it reminds me of britney spears
horrible combination...c'mon Japan stay Japan and America stay America!
