- 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:20-21.
Paint the Picture
• The chapter opens like this, “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee. As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.”
• Jesus is praying as He prepares to go to the cross. This is a powerful prayer. Many theologians believe this to be the most powerful prayer recorded in the Bible for several reasons. Who is praying, the timing, the content (what), the impact (why).
Community is an Organism
• Community is a living organism. It will grow. It will change, and in some instances, it will die.
• The life and quality of life of Community are dependent on the basic building blocks of the Community.
• What steps should we take to address the health of Community?

One Requirement
• Jesus is saying, I am not praying just for the disciples, I am praying for everyone that shall believe on me through their word.
• Membership in this Community has One Requirement: ________________________________.
• This is where evangelism and discipleship (Reach and Teach) come into play, consistent with our Purpose Statement.

Unity in the Community (John 1:1,2; John 5:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:3-6)
• At the Cellular Level Jesus is calling for us (each Cell) to be one in the same manner that He and God are one.
• Our Unity in this Community comes the Spirit of God.
• On a Cellular Level, each one of us should move like Jesus in a Christ-Centered Community.
• The Unity expressed in John 17:21 should testify and witness to the world that God sent His Son to die for us.
