Kind of a global tragedy to lose this plane. Everyone loved the An-225, or was romantic, kids were amazed and inspired by it, like a dinosaur or the biggest dump truck or tractor. And i really doubt it will ever be rebuilt. They may say "we need to raise money and we will rebuild", but look where it is. Any money that gets sent there will vanish into various pockets and you won't see anything.

My dream airplane, my childhood. First time when i saw this aircraft as Antonov 500 in a movie called "2012" the same year 2012 when i saw the movie. Since then this plane was a fictional creation which used to live in my fantasy all time. But soon after i lost the one and only CD of that film i got flabbergasted of realizing not having a second chance of reviewing it anymore. I just lost it's view forever by loosing that one single CD of the movie. Yet it lived in my emotions and fantasy every time i was to remember it's shape. It just worked as a mass dopamine system in my brain of just imagining and remembering it's addictive shape. Just by seeing this aircraft in my imagination was enough to trigger a unique feeling's, the feeling's which I've got from seeing that airplane in the movie. As i was a mad fan of aircraft's that time (and I still are) I've embraced the fictional aircraft so hard that i used to have anything to make it resemble that Antonov 500 and it's addictive behemoth shape. Until after several years one day I realized that this plane was actually real after seeing a landing of this mythical behemoth in one of RUclips videos. Which was also such of an icon in real life. None other than the iconic Antonov an225 mriya itself. Only since then I knew about it's existence 💔

А я на параде в 2008 в Киеве смотрел как он пролетает над Хрещатиком - это было нечто! Он ещё качнул крыльями - народ так орал в восторге, что по-моему даже двигатели в какой то момент не было слышно. Эти воспоминания у меня останутся надолго. Было очень круто.
Когда при СССР в садик ходил, то был у меня набор календариков с самолётами. Среди них был и календарик с Мрией несущей на себе Буран. Мелкому мне это казалось классным, но в целом обыденным, типа так и должно быть. Прошло время и понимаешь что ни Россия, ни Украина, ни штаты, при их развитости, такое уже не сделают. Ну в крайнем случае Китай или Северная Корея что-то осилят подобное. Но у Китая морской флагман "Ляонин" достроенный советский авианесущий крейсер "Варяг", а новая северокорейская ракета Хвасон -17 по сути советский перекормленный Тополь-М, с дальностью полёта 15000км, тогда как российский Сармат, только что принятый, имеет дальность 18000км. Ну и Северная Корея с Россией общую границу имеют. В общем не будет уже Мрии в современных реалиях.

Ukraine can make a new one, just it's expensive. You don't need the USSR for it. But we will never see eastern projects as great as those that arose during the 80's in the USSR, as the brain drain in the eastern hemisphere, especially Russia, has been too great. It is a sad world we live in.

It's not exactly true. Fact is that there were no so much orders for this plane. Transport via Mria was horrible expensive, mostly used only for the time-critic orders(transports). And that's reason why was not economic for Ukrainians to finalise the second (built from 40-50%?) prototype....
History of this beautful aircraft shows why Russia will never beat the West. They`re capable to build great things, but at the same time they have natural inclination to destroy everything around them. This aircraft could be a great symbol of soviet aviation engineering for next many years, but now it became a symbol of pointless and brutal agression that destroys everything on the way without a second thought. 747 will never become such a negative symbol, instead we`ll always appreciate its contribution to create a better world, and improving quality of life of many many people around the globe.

Just by seeing this aircraft in my imagination was enough to trigger a unique feeling's, the feeling's which I've got from seeing that airplane in the movie. As i was a mad fan of aircraft's that time (and I still are) I've embraced the fictional aircraft so hard that i used to have anything to make it resemble that Antonov 500 and it's addictive behemoth shape. Until after several years one day I realized that this plane was actually real after seeing a landing of this mythical behemoth in one of RUclips videos. Which was also such of an icon in real life. None other than the iconic Antonov an225 mriya itself. Only since then I knew about it's existence 💔

I pulled over on the side of the road and got out if my car, just gasping at how lucky I was to see the only An-225 in the entire world !
А я на параде в 2008 в Киеве смотрел как он пролетает над Хрещатиком - это было нечто! Он ещё качнул крыльями - народ так орал в восторге, что по-моему даже двигатели в какой то момент не было слышно. Эти воспоминания у меня останутся надолго. Было очень круто.
Когда при СССР в садик ходил, то был у меня набор календариков с самолётами. Среди них был и календарик с Мрией несущей на себе Буран. Мелкому мне это казалось классным, но в целом обыденным, типа так и должно быть. Прошло время и понимаешь что ни Россия, ни Украина, ни штаты, при их развитости, такое уже не сделают. Ну в крайнем случае Китай или Северная Корея что-то осилят подобное. Но у Китая морской флагман "Ляонин" достроенный советский авианесущий крейсер "Варяг", а новая северокорейская ракета Хвасон -17 по сути советский перекормленный Тополь-М, с дальностью полёта 15000км, тогда как российский Сармат, только что принятый, имеет дальность 18000км. Ну и Северная Корея с Россией общую границу имеют. В общем не будет уже Мрии в современных реалиях.

Ukraine can make a new one, just it's expensive. You don't need the USSR for it. But we will never see eastern projects as great as those that arose during the 80's in the USSR, as the brain drain in the eastern hemisphere, especially Russia, has been too great. It is a sad world we live in.

Челнок во первых. Так как он имел двигатели для посадки и бортовые системы для автоматической посадки что уже в свою очередь ставить его в ранг космического беспилотного дрона. Он в автоматическом режиме произвёл расчет на изменившиеся погодные условия(боковой ветер) ушол на второй круг и произвёл посадку. This was never mass produced and most certainly not by Ukraine. It was built by the whole USSR and a Russian chief engineer.
It's not exactly true. Fact is that there were no so much orders for this plane. Transport via Mria was horrible expensive, mostly used only for the time-critic orders(transports). And that's reason why was not economic for Ukrainians to finalise the second (built from 40-50%?) prototype....
There was report of China buying the rights to produce a few dozen of these designs but not sure if that plan will ever go ahead now
