I just got my Hobbit so i can not attest to its long term reliability but it seems solid and very well built. Im no pinball expert but alot of the mechanisms seem easy to work on or adjust. Thanks for the great video. I absolutely love this game. Its deep game play, sound and action will keep you entertained for a long time. Jersey Jack in my opinion makes some of the highest quality pinball machines on the market.
If you go to New Jersey, Jack will usually meet people that come and give them a tour of the factory and let them see and watch how the games are made.
You've not seen what they make Stern pins out of! In fairness to JJP, this pin is very much premium quality compared to their competitors, they just have a few too many teething problems, I think they were pressured into releasing the game asap as it had been so long in the making
I was set on buying a new pinball machine for a homemovie/gameroom. After a bit of study, stern was completely out of the picture. That spike system is nothing short of a scandal. So, was pretty set on a JJP and loved what i´ve seen from the hobbit gameplay and apperance. I found this clip really discouraging. In short, now i´ve made up my mind not to go for a pinball machine. The cost is nowhere near motivated in regards to the obvious lack of quality. I´m currently looking into virtuapin or a mame cabinet.
Wonderful video again. I would not worry about the warg head, I have seen flimsier things take multiple ball hits to the face and have no permanent damage. Overall 12.5 out of 13.
I certainly don't think the build quality is bad, as pins go, it's pretty damn good, very heavy, lots of big metal mechanisms, hopefully just teething troubles and a few parts they need to improve/upgrade
I watched you last vid and vid, bloody awesome work. So them light sensor things crack after 20h of use, nightmare. How could you get around this, used better ones off a different machine maybe?
Is it just me or does it seem like the older pinball machines were much stronger compared to the newer more expensive cheaply built ones? For such a new game it just seems wrong to have those parts made so cheaply and poorly :(
While I have had a few issues with boards and a beast, my Hobbit and Oz seem very well built. JJP is far ahead of Stern as build quality goes.. and gameplay for that matter.
I think it will be a long time before I get bored of this one, the next software version looks like it is going to be good, should be out any day now and adds some new stuff

I have the same missing screw, wonder if it is intentional 🙂
It's nice that new games are being made but it comes across that it's on the cheap as possible and with an after market parts chain for added profit.

The door looks very 'theater of magic'
JJP use all Williams parts where possible :)
well they are tried and tested!

Find yourself a machine from the early 1980's and try that. One that talks is even better. If you want to move up after that, just sell it.

It's kinda shocking how chintzy some of these parts are especially considering the price tag

I just got back from Tilt in Brum - same fault ! Burnt out. Did your mosfet blow too?
No fuse blow, I am on my second melted coil now :(
the 7amp fuse blown - took out the computer case as I think a mosfet has blown too.
sounds like they need to sort out some issues then if its not just me
Great job! A bit annoying having those few faults on a brand new table =/
It sure was, this literally broken on day 1
thanks for the info on this pin.I was going to buy this pin . but I will not waste 12000 Canadian dollars on this machine after seeing this.

I agree, something this new should have broken this much

I would not be impressed after paying that amount of money, should JJP not give you similar parts? Cant expect everyone to have your skills
I guess it depends on how long I'd like to wait for parts, what with me being in the UK and I am guessing there are no stocks of JJP coils over here
HMM HOW DID JJP SEND SUCH A POOR GRADE, BROKEN PIN OUT TO THE PUBLIC, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF UK BUYERS ME THINKS. SHAME :(
Typical poor Stern build quality. Oh wait........ :)
hah! At least it's not a paper-mache cab, with furniture clips for a lockdown bar, and two pokey rods instead of under playfield rails :)
+arcadeuk just dont swap this one for another Luke, am not helping you with a JJP and stairs again :)
I think it will be a long time before I get bored of this one, the next software version looks like it is going to be good, should be out any day now and adds some new stuff
arcadeuk how did you get it up the stairs?
Did you have to remove the playfield and head?
