I’ve made peace with enjoying new journals every time and not having a set style. Gives me loads of choices and journals to play around with (and add to my collection). I love my Galen A5 which I’m enjoying filling up and I recently got their leather A6 which is gorgeous, I think. Can’t wait to begin in it 😃. I always have a running Travellers journal which I take with me on travels or write a few pages here and there when at home. So that one journal has a collection of pieces from different times. Seeing you try different styles and talk abt each is sooooo lovely to watch ❤️. As always I loveeee your videos.
I'm always feeling a bit restless, so I made my peace with starting a journal abandoning it half way through, starting a different one and coming back to the first one some time later. I write both date ranges on them and then it's fine for me. Maybe feeling restless is just a normal thing. We live in very strange times with the pandemic going on, so maybe it's just a way of coping with it. I really love your videos and made myself a playlist so I can journal with you.
I think it’s The apocalipse and not the journals that is making us anxious. We are most likely to seek control over the thinks we can control to deal with that. Change a hairstyle, move every furniture around the house, painting walls. And this feeling maybe is trying to shake us up to be ready and start change outside our lives. Thanks for sharing the video. U always shake ma world with simple moments. ❤️
Well, I don't think an actual apocalypse is near. Last year really wasn't out of the normal for me, except not being able to go into restaurants for fix months/ But I do get your point.
I been feeling the same way lately, not being able to settle confortably on a journal and switching from one to another, changing brands and sizes, the same thing with the pens... good thing its not just me.. lol... i truly enjoy your videos thanks for bringing your peaceful energy 🌸✨
Congratulations! It's always fun to get new setups. I'm a B6 girl and I have been down the Chic Sparrow rabbit hole...thanks to you! I have purchased many different leathers and I love them! I've been having fun discovering new journals to fill my notebooks with like Peter Pauper Press, Tekukor, Papberblanks, Red Co. Journal, and Rhodia. My favorite paper is found in Leuchtturm journals, but unfortunately, they don't make a standard B6 size. So, right now I'm in a Galen Leather Tomoe River Notebook. The paper is so thin, but my fountain pens love it. I like the sound of the paper when I flip through the pages. Happy journaling!!!
Omg you’re adorable & fun! I used to get so excited as a kid seeing how long I could ride my bike without holding on to the handlebars☺️. I hope Howard Stern talks on air about this video & shares his thoughts on the Gigollo journal.
97 degrees! I had to wear a sweater the other day here in Ohio. I can’t wait for us to catch up. Your outfits are always so cute and the colors you choose harmonize so well with your energy!
I love that old school bike ..... they last forever. ......No Hands !!!!! lol ... Glad to see you trying a different brand. Great video......keep up the great work.
OMG! We still are getting frost at night here in Ontario Canada :D I have to say I totally feel you with everything. I actually really dislike Gillo’s-not because I think the company is bad, I just don’t like the look or cost. Just a personal preference. I totally support anyone who loves them, but I find them unattractive-though yours is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. Next, I know SO many people struggling with their planner systems! I found semi-peace last year with an A5 stalogy and an A5 rings. This seems to be working , but as we seem to be on interminable lock down in my province, I don’t have much to plan since I can’t work. I also have told many other planner people I follow that I feel that our planning systems change as we change-which can be monthly or weekly or yearly. I’ve been a planner gal since the late 70s. Yes, as a kid, I loved planners. Not a lot available then and my first ones were these flat check book style monthly planners. I then evolved to an a6 Filofax that served me for years. Loved that thing. Still have it :D Then I stopped planning for a few years, and then I found my way back :) Love your channel! And I really think the Gillio suits you!
If you tuck both sides of the book in,the pen might fit better!Oh,and the penloops are made to tuck in the pen from bottom to top!😄 Great way to film!Love it that way!
I also have a kaweco brass sport. The air in the ink cartridge can expand a bit in the heat and cause some leakage. Had issues with it during the summer months last year when I carried it around daily. Glad you’re still in T-Town! I love that we’re in the same city!
It's not a bad looking journal cover, Alicia, however, that pen loop would cause me a great deal of irritation - whilst it runs in an alignment with the rear flap, any girthier pens will (literally) stick out like a sore thumb & crush the edges of your enclosed book, & thus alter the whole morphology of the cover, itself. I do love the colour - & of course, green & 'gold' are a perfect match. I've sourced the Gillio site, & would concur, they're way over-priced for what they are; that said, the features are very good - I particularly like the 'open spine' for documents or cash notes. Stay cool (if you can), Best, Andrew :)
Love the road bike, and the balance skills, like a veteran of the peleton! Thanks for sharing the journaling gear. I like the snap closure, prefer to strap.
Something to be aware of Alicia, I have a lot of steering silver pens, and I have found that some tanning processes Result in a corrosive effect on sterling, they leave the pens all tarnished. It was explained to me the type of tanning process that causes this, but Ive forgotten the entire story, so just be careful when exposing leathers to metal pens.
Good video! Nice little journal.. I have a though time with smaller journals.. and notebooks.. I need a new rough and tough briefcase.. any ideas? I liked the "how did I get ink on my hands"? And on the kitchen counter.. the floor.. well done!! Frank in Colorado
The Gillio is laid out a lot like a Hobonichi cover on the inside. I use an A6 Hobonichi - I actually sprang for the bright orange cover that was the 2020 special edition. It's the most expensive notebook cover I've ever purchased - and orange isn't usually my thing, but I love it. :) I am still on the fence about Hobonichi's "butterfly" pen loops, though, which double as a closure for the notebook. They work OK, but if I carry the book in my backpack I feel like the pages aren't protected as well as they would be in a traveler's-style notebook, or one with a clasp like your Gillio.
Brilliant intro 🙂 takes me back to some good memories and that area you filmed in was perfect. Yeh the A6 is a nice size for a journal I think out and about but I can never put my regular TN down though. To say I’ve had a restless year of which book to use would be an understatement. Every day I have 4 books I’m using. Nothing much different to write, I just cannot put any of them down. It really is my addiction and I reckon it’s the leather covers that make it so. Thanks for the update Alicia. Am jealous of that ‘sun’ thing. UK is ‘basking’ in 8c at the moment 😂 (Regular TN in Starbucks Reserve Brown cover; William Hannah A5 in Whiskey & Kingfisher; MD Paper lined A5 in TSL writers organiser; Hobonichi A5 in Gfeller cover)
I like how you’re trying new things. Most of your videos are about Chic Sparrow. I go from different sizes to different brands too. I also go from analog (with different leather TNs and my favorite fountain pens) to digital planners (iPad with Apple Pencil). Depends on my mood.
Have you checked out the Wonderland 222 planner system? Might be something you could be interested in. Just thought I would throw that out there. Thanks for showing your current set up.
Well you sold me on the brass sport kaweco ( I ordered it about an hour ago) and you may have sold me on the Jillian Journal… it looks soooo versatile!
That’s a gorgeous cover! I understand the restlessness of where to journal and I don’t archive mine! They are a brain dump, to get me functioning again. I’m using a slim tomoe river insert the same size as my hobonichi weeks because I wanted something portable and small.
Love your channel! You should be a model for the Sundance Magazine everything about you is fun, beautiful and interesting! Gillio yes too expensive ...
They really are lovely quality covers! That said I still havent found the perfect one yet. Eventually you will design your perfect setup but it may take a few protypes. Great video as always and really enjoyed your excursion on Applebloom!
I have a Kaweco Liliput, among other pens I love for different reasons, and it's 'cause of you and your trusty Kaweco brass that I'm prolly gonna get one, too, to go around with me everywhere. I want something that writes nicely, something I don't have to worry about getting jostled in my backpack... Something metal, but one where I don't have to screw the cap onto the back of the pen, like on the Liliput. :) Yay! Thank you...
Ok, I looked them up and wow, new they are at least 2x a Chic Sparrow. Or you could get a couple Galen Leather covers with wallet inserts. My wife just got me a non-branded traveller’s notebook cover. Going to get some inserts for it from Jet Pens. I’ll switch to it after I finish the Rhodia A5 I’m using now. Not sure how I’ll like the narrower pages yet.
Thanks for the wonderful review. I've been using my Hobonichi cover with a Hobonichi Techno 2020/2021 Planner as well as an Elia Notebook. It works for me as I am using a backpack to throw it into for traveling. I have been wanting to check out the great leather products from Galen Leather and Superior Labor who make fabulous leather covers and accessories. Like you, I definitely would have major first and second thoughts on Grillio Leather products mostly for their pricing structure. I use an A5 notebook and US $300 and up for a new leather cover seems a little too much to spend.
Don’t know if you’re on facebook, but there’s a lot of great Buy/Sell/Trade groups for planner/journal covers! I find there’s a lot more turnaround than ebay, so it’s easier to find what you’re looking for or selling what you don’t like. It’s the only reason I keep facebook around these days haha. The Chic Sparrow groups in particular sent me down a rabbit hole of buying/selling covers to find my favorites- might be worth a shot if you’re feeling restless about trying new things but don’t want to spend crazy amounts of money! Happy journaling!
Oh! That’s so tempting! I don’t have a Facebook account anymore, but I do feel like I’m missing out on a lot of good deals. Happy journaling to you too!
Your videos are very satisfying. Thanks for the review. That pen loop would irritate me. I hate it when that happens...even on $20 notebook. Gillio is far too expensive for that. I hope it loosens up. I bought that exact same pen last week and while it is kinda chunky, I'm surprised you had that problem. I love that hat by the way. 😊
Nice looking journal setup! I’m waiting for the Chic Sparrow Crème Brûlée to be in-stock again so I can buy my first A6 Chic Sparrow! Loved the intro and your hat... wonder how you stay so beautiful-looking in that Tucson heat! Where are you buying your Stalogy journals? Thanks for another great video!
While I haven't been feeling restless with the size of my journal (A5), I have been feeling kinda restless about the cover for my journal. My absolute favorite journal nowadays is thread and glue bound. And while it holds up on its own quite nicely, I fear it wouldn't with a travelers notebook elastic. I'm hoping to eventually pick up a Galen Leather zip folio since folios don't make me quite as fearful for the binding.
I understand how that goes, with the elastic. I’ve been enjoying the Stalogy notebooks, but feel they benefit from being in a folio instead of elastics. Galen does a great job with their goods.
I'm a bit surprised to see you try one, I've never really understood the pricing for them but it does seem like a really niche planner cover. I love sticking to my Chic Sparrow ones and am curious what your current setups for those are since I was introduced to the brand from you! :)
Hello! At the moment, I don’t have any chic sparrow covers in use! Wait, that’s not true, I have a pocket sized one that I converted into my mini printer carrier last summer. All the others are waiting patiently for a revisit. XD What chic sparrow are you using presently?
I have a gillio personal Size it’s lovely but i can’t relax throwing it my my bag back pack etc Where I have a vanderspek ( used ) personal size and that I have found enjoys living dangerously at the bottom of my bag like you none of the elite Leather name brands ....make sense with the prices ....but quality and the extras they give does make them a lot more versatile than some other brands ...who give quality but not as much versatility .... surprised our little bean did not have input into supervising this video lol 🌍🇦🇺👍😷
Your opening scene gave me anxiety about your safety!! 2 seconds later I could breath. In regards to leather goods, I find that with a lot of objects. I’d love you to do a video on leather grades and what to look out for.
You might want to check out Darrell Standing leather on Etsy. Alex does beautiful work; much better than Galen in my opinion. All handmade. Very fair prices too.
I love the setting for this video Alicia! Ive heard that the kawecko al-sport has a smell that can transfer to your hands. I dont know if it was you who said this or someone else. Does the smell go away? Its 68 and sunny today in the Metro Detroit area. Aka the “burbs” of Detroit.
It's the Brass Sport that can transfer the smell - because brass oxidizes, and that residue has a metallic smell. The AL-Sports don't typically smell because most of them have a coating on them, though I guess the raw aluminum one might. I have a copper Kaweco Liliput and that makes my hands smell like old pennies, haha. Also, greetings from a fellow Michigander! I grew up in GR. Not sure I can still claim Michigander status since I have lived the majority of my adult life elsewhere (Vermont and Seattle). But I love Detroit. My brother currently lives in Dearborn.
Why do you want a cover for your journal ? (I am asking this question sincerely, not as a wise-guy.) I find your writings to be spectacularly beautiful and you write so often in your journal that easy entry would seem like a high-requirement for you. It seems like the cover adds unnecessary bulk and weight. Also curious if you also carry an IPhone with you? Have you come across any B5 journal covers that also can hold an IPhone in any easy access location ?
I just looked this up on their website and if this is actually made completely in Italy ( their wording is I feel a little ambiguous about this. Whilst it’s clear the leather is tanned in Italy it’s not so clear if is made there, they throw in the U.S. style value added marketing spiel about Toscana and “brand unity”) then for a European sourced, vegetable tanned and made leather product the price I feel is actually reasonable as your paying someone a living wage with high quality EU working condition laws and meeting environmental regulations far stricter than you would get in China and the U.S. Vegetable tanning is a much more lengthy and costly process than regular tanning but much much better for the environment and produces a far higher grade of leather that lasts a lifetime with the appropriate care. A watch strap which uses a fraction of the leather used in this and with far simpler construction made of similar leather in Italy would cost the same as this whole journal or more to put some perspective in as to the cost of this!
PS: what explains the price is that those planners are handmade by artisans in Italy, with the highest quality of leather available. So expensive material and very exepensive labour.
Have you heard of the ApplePig journal covers? I'm curious to know your thoughts. I'm also still on the hunt for the right set up. Still debating on switching to the a6 once my a5 nanami seven seas is filled up.
It’s a pretty color but I stay away from square corners on a cover. Another brand copy cat to Gullio is Moterm, they also have aquare corners but not the expensive price.
@@adventuredenali My experience with square corners, is they bend when I put them in a bag/backpack. I don’t baby my covers so I prefer rounded corners better.
Beautiful you tube channel ! For me who loves writing and the music. Thank you for all your videos. 🎻🖋️
Thank you so much! Welcome!
You’re in searing heat, whereas I woke up to snow in North Carolina. Love the no-hands intro.
Crazy to think! Thank you!
Love the color, stitching is very nice 👍!

What I loved about this video is that you were riding a ten speed bicycle. Thank you for your video presentation.
And free hand too!
Thank you very much!

I love that Gillio. Fab quality. Cool bike intro too.
Thank you! I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit.

Thank you! It’s so fun riding hands free, especially after a long haul, nice to get to stretch up a bit. That would be fun if he did!
I here because of the Stearn show. I really enjoyed the video.
Nice cover, it seems your ready for summer. Love your hat. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I love my bike too. It’s been a great commuter.
I can't ride my bike no-handed, but I once rode with a Dutch woman who managed 35 miles barely touching them at all!
Nice review.
Ooh, you got a Gillio! A rabbit hole I'm still trying to climb out of. 😆
You have officially branched into another level of covers. Enjoy!
You have such a happy face! Cheers me up seeing you smile.
It’s a beautiful cover. I love everything about the leather and design. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Tessa!
If you tuck both sides of the book in,the pen might fit better!Oh,and the penloops are made to tuck in the pen from bottom to top!😄
Great way to film!Love it that way!
Bottom to top? 🤔
Ooo that seems like a very practical EDC! I especially love the big pocket.
It's very pretty! I do love snap closures!!! :)
Stay cool (if you can),
Best,
Andrew :)
Love the road bike, and the balance skills, like a veteran of the peleton! Thanks for sharing the journaling gear. I like the
snap closure, prefer to strap.
I really like all the stationery stuff you have. 👍🏻
Like someone else already said, great intro! 😍
Good video! Nice little journal.. I have a though time with smaller journals.. and notebooks.. I need a new rough and tough briefcase.. any ideas? I liked the "how did I get ink on my hands"? And on the kitchen counter.. the floor.. well done!!

You look so beautiful and glowing in that 90F heat! ☺️
Well thank you very much!
Totally Love the Olive Leather!! It’s definitely suits your style!!
Thank you! It’s a gorgeous color.
it's a beautiful cover! And the birds in the background were so relaxing
They really are lovely quality covers! That said I still havent found the perfect one yet. Eventually you will design your perfect setup but it may take a few protypes. Great video as always and really enjoyed your excursion on Applebloom!

Thank you! May that day come soon!
You are a true gem. Thanks for your videos
It looks good and the colour suits you. Give us an update later on
Can’t wait to see more as you live in it over the year!

I have a leather guy who makes custom leather stuff, he made my journal cover and it’s so high quality.
I’m here cause Howard Stern said so. Interesting content:)
Hello and welcome :)
I love your RUclips Chanel ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you ever decide to sell this cover let me know - it’s gorgeous!!!
Nice "travel light Indiana Jones" look. In time: I prefer slim notebooks, don't know why, maybe don't need why, just prefer.
While I haven't been feeling restless with the size of my journal (A5), I have been feeling kinda restless about the cover for my journal. Yeah! A new vid! 😄 Greetings from germany 🙋🏼♂️
Baba Booey. Algorithm Booster. Shrimp and Chocolate Chips. Blended Scotch.
Got that brass beauty on the way.
I have a gillio personal Size it’s lovely but i can’t relax throwing it my my bag back pack etc Where I have a vanderspek ( used ) personal size and that I have found enjoys living dangerously at the bottom of my bag
like you none of the elite Leather name brands ....make sense with the prices ....but quality and the extras they give does make them a lot more versatile than some other brands ...who give quality but not as much versatility ....
surprised our little bean did not have input into supervising this video lol 🌍🇦🇺👍😷
Nice set up and filming location. I am in the UK. What is this sun that you speak of?
I love it...I need one of those. Bean would approve 🤓
Your opening scene gave me anxiety about your safety!! 2 seconds later I could breath.
In regards to leather goods, I find that with a lot of objects. I’d love you to do a video on leather grades and what to look out for.
Howard Stern wants to adopt you 🤣
There is something to be said for a smaller, portable kit.
Oh! Thank you for all the information! That is helpful to know. I appreciate you taking the time to relay all of this.
That’s a beautiful cover =)
Do you still use Chic Sparrow?
Welcome to the wonderful world of Gillionaires!
What is the notebook you are using? I tried to search it and cant find it :(
A Stalogy notebook in the A6 size. You can find them on Jet Pens, Goulet, and Amazon to make a few. :D
@@adventuredenali Awesome thank you! I have been looking for a good journal notebook. I have only 3 pages left in my current one! Love your videos!
Maybe you need a Liliput in there?
Haha that’d be fitting! Although I’m not a big fan of the screw on cap to post. They’re wonderful little pens though.
You are so cool. Can we be friends or something?
It’s a pretty color but I stay away from square corners on a cover. Another brand copy cat to Gullio is Moterm, they also have aquare corners but not the expensive price.
Oh I’ve heard of Moterm! What about square corners disagrees with you?
@@adventuredenali My experience with square corners, is they bend when I put them in a bag/backpack. I don’t baby my covers so I prefer rounded corners better.

It's a beautiful set up but not nearly as beautiful as you❤
