Qualified Ignorance goes out the window quickly if they admit to knowing anything.
I worked at bowling alley for a couple years as the asst facility manager.
I worked the shift that included the special need kids. Of all ages.
The more simple minded, the nicer they were. Why can't cops be like that?
One of the best shifts of the week. Special needs and seniors warming up for the next day's afternoon league.
The point is, those kids had a lot of understanding of the basics.
Even the one that freaked out and threw an epic tantrum, 6'3" 200+ lbs, in shape, but with the mind of a child, he avoided the oiled lanes and got to the dry back ends before cutting across. The cops weren't as smart.
I happened to have just gotten my lunch fro the attached diner. Chicken tenders and fries.
I had him sitting down and eating that before the cops got back up.
      Which completely de-escalated the situation.
The caretakers who ran the special needs home tried reimbursing me, but the manager of the diner saw it all and replaced my meal at no cost.
Nobody got arrested. The cops took it as a lesson learned about bowling lanes.
And that gigantic child never threw a tantrum over bowling again (while I was working there).

Thats one of the reasons why we dont have these issues almost at all. The issue is the police officers are obviously misinformed and not trained properly. I honestly think, that this officer in good faith believed what he said was correct and its a result of terrible training you guys have in US thats all. He obviously acted in good faith and it is very likely not his fault but the fault of the trainig officers, supervisors and the shitty system you guys have.

@@brandonbp122 Long Island is just as good in his own right. The police and public workers are definitely worse in his neck of the woods, making his job harder I think. Especially given his approach. I just identify with BAT more, and just dig his approach more, I’d say. I like the way he is coy with them and reels them in for the kill shot. Long Island is a little more straight forward with his approach. But you’re right, they’re both fantastic. I just know when I’ve had to stand up to police or other presumed authority figures, I was much more in line with BAT, so when I found his videos I was like, yep, this fuckin guy right here.

@@brandonbp122 I love Direct D, too. Honesty, I love either/or. Combative or peaceful. Most of them deserve it. I’m not against police and I don’t think they should be defunded. There are too many situations that need unbiased, objective mediation. But we all know that’s a pipe dream. If you’ve ever been molested by the police or mistreated by public officials simply because they can, knowing nothing will happen to them, that combative approach starts to appeal a little more. Direct D is always cool to the ones who are cool with him, that I’ve seen. Most cops’ jobs would be 99% uneventful if they didn’t extort the public, and go out of their way to make that drab and uneventful job more interesting by exploiting their “positions of power.” They just go around imposing their will on whomever they choose, and it’s disgusting. So bring on the Direct D’s of the world. He’s doing more for the public than the police will, in my opinion.

You don't have to be arrested to have a case, simple threat of arrest, violence or admission of intent is enough to show case of violation of rights or depravation of rights. Obviously if you are dealing with a crook, they will just go straight to hands on so you have to do your best to read them or if unsure walk away until you get used to being around them. As BAT said they are very unpredictable.
For reference, keep in mind these are USC or Federal Code but good guidelines as to what they can and can not do
      U.S. CODE TITLE 18, CHAPTER 13, SECTIONS 241 & 242
MAKES IT A FELONY TO USE OR CONSPIRE TO USE COLOR OF LAW TO EN-FORCE A CODE OR REGULATION WHICH RESULTS IN THE VIOLATION OF A PERSONS RIGHTS. VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED.
TITLE 18 U.S.C, SECTION 242 DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS UNDER COLOR OF LAW:
WHOEVER, UNDER COLOR OF ANY LAW, STATUTE, ORDINANCE, REGULATION, OR CUSTOM, WILLFULLY SUBJECTS ANY INHABITANT OF ANY STATE, TERRITORY, OR DISTRICT TO THE DEPRIVATION OF ANY RIGHTS, PRIVILEGES, OR IMMUNITIES SECURED OR PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION OR LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES, OR TO DIFFERENT PUNISHMENTS, PAINS OR PENALTIES, ON ACCOUNT OF SUCH INHABITANT BEING AN ALIEN, OR BY REASON OF HIS COLOR, OR RACE, THAN ARE PRESCRIBED FOR THE PUNISHMENT OF CITIZENS, SHALL BE FINED NOT MORE THAN $1,000 OR IMPRISONED NOT MORE THAN ONE YEAR, OR BOTH: AND IF DEATH RESULTS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO IMPRISONMENT FOR ANY TERM OF YEARS OR FOR LIFE.
Violation of rights is very egregious and very dangerous as it is the basis of our 7 layer Republic.

I actually feel bad for this cop. He was so lost and uneducated. Obviously he's responsible for his own education but you can tell his department isn't helping him understand the laws and his role as a law enforcement officer. He was stuck between admitting Bay Fam was right, and not doing what he thought his superiors would want him to do in that situation. His entire department probably needs training. I'm glad he didn't try to escalate the situation and remained calm and respectful. I think we can work with cops like that to help them get better.

Never feel bad for the willfully ignorant. This cop was given *every* opportunity by BAT to educate themselves, even provided some case law and took his own time to explain he had done his research, talked to lawyers, ect, and Boots refused do so. He's yet another incompetent public employee that the taxpayers are paying to violate our rights.

@Lucius Julius Flavius I agree, but the leadership does a terrible job of teaching that in the academy so many officers don't fully understand their role as a peace officer. For many it's just a job where they get to play with some authority and get adrenaline rushes every now and again. A friend of mine wanted to be a cop for that very reason. He was drawn in by the excitement instead of willingness to serve and uphold the constitution. Your average Americans can't even tell you the first 5 amendments.

Auditors need to start using this line of thought: "recording my government in the course of their duties is official business. Would you want to live in a country where the government is unwilling to be transparent? Do you understand the way it comes off to the people when the government threatens violence because a member of the public wants to check up on them? What does that say about you that you are attempting to restrict my ability to hold them accountable? You haven't thought this through that much have you?"
