It's amazing it took this long for a robo-vacuum to just lift up the mop pad so it can mop and vacuum at the same time. Seems like such a simple and obvious improvement.
The reviews I have seen don't seem good..Shows that it only raises so high and it will potentially drag a wet pad on the carpet depending on the carpet height..
@@silentsnooc But then that would mean people living in places with mostly carpet and some hard surfaces wouldn't have access to robotic mopping, they made a smart move releasing it as it is.

Great review! Because of you I purchased my first robot vacuum and it was a Roborock and have no regrets. I’m glad I found your channel, thank you for the reviews you do on products.👍
air tangles with gummi brush is easy, just cut cross with a scissor. thats why i love those. takes one second. with regular brushes you got to untangle with your hands, takes forever.
Oh would love that. My S5 with three Main Coon cats in the house needs brush cleaning after 2 runs. And not only the brush but all other shafts besides the brush and the axles of the front wheel as well. Vacuum Wars should get some more pets in the house….
I would love to see you do a 15-20 minute test on med. pile carpet, to see if it still has the problem with giving Error 5. (Clean and remove main brush stuck error). I would also like to see a Black carpet test. To see if this one will actually vacuum it, instead of thinking its a drop off, and not go on it at all.
Actually I lie, I bought a third party replacement kit on Amazon with the filters and brush roll and such, and it was giving me 'remove the main bushroll' error also. I had to just take it out and put it back in a few times and it seems to be working fine now!
I've seen people complain that those plastic "teeth" on the brush housing make contact with the floor and will eventually leave scratches on hard floors. I'm considering the S7 myself but I'm a bit sceptical after seeing comments like that. I don't want my brand new floors scratched! Would be great if you could look into this and perhaps address it in a video? As a RUclipsr myself I can definitely see a video like "Robot vacuums - Will they scratch your floors?" being quite effective in getting views. :) Apparently, the rubber brushes used on the S7 and on Roombas as well are more likely to leave scratches on floors vs a soft brush that has been traditionally used on Roborocks up until now. I watched another video on another channel where they tested the robots on a plexiglass surface to see if it would leave scratches. The rubber brushes would make more contact with the floor, and once they became dirty they basically sandblasted the floor, leaving lots of scratches. The softer brushes however did not leave any scratches. This can possibly be avoided by cleaning the brushes often, but I'm more worried about those plastic bits that are sticking down from the brush housing on the S7. If those make contact with the floor then it will almost certainly leave scratches on hard floors after a while?
Just finished my first use of the S7 today. It replaced an i7+ that stopped working twice and was returned after 30 days of ownership. Based only on this 1 use, I don't think it vacuumed the carpets in my home quite as well as the i7 (when it worked) but the difference is. minor. The S7 vacuumed our tiled floors much better and the mopping function works surprisingly well. --- Unlike the i7, which I thought was on a mission to destroy the legs on all my furniture, the S7 goes about its business in a much more gentle fashion. the i7 got stuck under my fridge, the S7 got stuck between a wall and reclining chair. --- My one concern with the S7 is that when it got to less than 20% battery left, it announced it was going back to the dock, but then announced it couldn't find the dock and needed to be carried back. I'm going to move the dock and hope that doesn't happen again.
@@HunterGeophysicsAustralia Only a little. After further use, we found this to be a random but persistent problem that happened 50% of the time. It doesn't seem to matter where we put the dock as it will find it only half the time. Even when it finds it in one place one day, the next day it wouldn't find it in the exact sameplace . -- Much discussion with Roborock couldn't resolve.
@@melprophet1936 that’s disappointing. I wonder how prevalent the issue is. I also wonder how it finds the charger/dock, e.g. does it remember where it is on the map and then uses its LiDAR to get there, or does it use some other means to locate it (e.g. triangulation with some sort of radiotransmitter). If it’s the latter, I wonder if its signal is being blocked by the material in your walls… have you tried to run it only in the same room as the dock a few times and seeing if it can consistently detect and return to the dock?
@@HunterGeophysicsAustralia Yes, we tried only running it in the same room and it was more likely to find the dock but still not always. There was very little rhyme or reason to it. -- They explained how it was supposed to work but I honestly don't recall as I've moved on from the thing completely. According to Roborock it wasn't a common problem, but they were not unfamiliar with it as they had a set of procedures all ready for me to try. Hope this helps!.
There a reviews from China of this product also showing the auto-empty bin. I don’t read Chinese subtitles but the auto empty bin looks to have no disposable bags. That is a huge plus.
Got one of these and it's great. Cleans the whole house (mix of wooden floors and rugs), methodically and reliably. It's never got stuck, not like our old Miele Scout. We have two small dogs, and it picks up plenty of hair. Empties into the dock just fine. The app is comprehensive and feature packed. Haven't used the mopping. Loving it.
So am I, but I doubt it will be any good for my need. We have two long haired dogs and wooden floors. Every day I have to cut the fur out of the roller and blow the dust out of the filter on our S5.
Getting my first ever robot vacuum and your review helped me settle on the s7. I have no idea what to expect but this seems like a fantastic choice due to it's hardware, app, durability, and upgrade options. I like how I can get the auto-empty dock if I want in the future. Thanks and new sub here!
@@atary86 I also ordered some pads from aliexpress, still waiting for them though. Also very excited for the auto empty system! But it hasn't been too much of a hassle to empty it yet. Only empty it once a week or so. But i did experience it get stuck on 3 out of 4 carpets in our house...
Dude, I've been watching robot vacuum videos for a week and I'm no closer to making a purchase. In your opinion what is the best all around set it and forget it option available?
Same boat as you. After a lot of research, I was deciding between Deebot Ozmo T8 and Roborock S7. I pulled the trigger today and ordered the Roborock. In the end, I'm sure both would do the job just perfectly.
Yes it’s so annoying to watch so many of these videos and still not be closer to a decision being made The way the analysis is done is extremely technical yet not based around a set of criteria that allows for practical envisioning of values. It’s just too much
Because of this review I'm a proud owner of the S7 bought during Amazon Prime. Single dude here - 5 cats - 3,000 sq ft house. I HAVE MY LIFE BACK! Mop function works better than I had imagined. I still use one of four Dyson's for the long thick pile carpet in the bedrooms. The Zones are working nicely. As I type I delegated the S7 to clean the laundry room via the app. Coming from an older Neato, I was concerned about the small dust bin...well upon closer inspection I noticed there is a piece of plastic to remove inside so that when the AutoEmpty device comes out, hopefully this will resolve the smaller dust bin size. The thin profile fits under the furniture that I previously would have to contort myself into to yoga positions to reach with my Dyson V10. I do wish it was better at avoiding cords....Since Covid my great room has become my PhotoStudio and there are cords everywhere. This has forced me to be more organize with my cord management, which is actually a good thing. Besides that, my floors are cleaner than before life with the S7....for the time savings alone it has paid for itself in the 3 weeks I've owned it...I feel like I have a portion of my staff back (without any HR issues).
We are selling Dust Bag for Roborock S7 / S7+ Vacuum Cleaner Auto-Empty Dock on Amazon, which are exactly the same as the original ones. If you need it, you can contact me and I can send it to you for free.
Love my S5 max. Navigation and pickup is top notch on hard floors. I don’t need the bin because I like that it hides away under the sideboard. Would recommend roborock for sure. Sounds like great improvements on the S7.
In case you read this, there are videos of the Roborock self-empty dock in action. It's only available in China as far as I'm aware (For now at least). But it's been proven to work
@@VacuumWars would you say this is currently the best vacuum robot map combo on the market? And if not what else should I look at? Thanks. Great video as always.
Your reviews always help to get a very objective insight of these vacuums performance, thank you so much. I have a couple of questions, Have you tested or plan to test +360 vacuums? I've seen those at Amazon but can't see anyone really putting them trough tests like you. Second one, do you test air seal on these? I remember watching a video of yours mentioning how important is to have a sealed vacuum and was wondering how robot vacuums address that. Hope you can find the time to answer my questions and again thank you for your time and effort doing this
Do you know if iRobot's roller design has come out of patent? I saw an Ecovac (T9, I think Japan release only so far) that had almost the exact same roller as an iRobot, and this roller design also looks like it might infringe on that old patent.
The iRobot patent covers "Autonomous floor cleaning robots that use counter-rotating extractors." They don't have a patent on the materials used for the extractors, just if they're counter-rotating or not. At least as far as I'm aware
@@VacuumWars I'll make sure to watch it. Given You have a lot more experience with robo vacuums, Your insight will be greatly appreciated. We moved from roomba's 980 to s9+ and it turned out to be somewhat of a letdown. Especially in terms of autonomy, battery life and the ammount of time it needs to do the same job the 980 needed before it. Anyways, I greatly enjoy Your content! Thanks loads and stay safe.
Bought the S5 following your recommendation. So did my friend. ( you should of seen our faces when we both referred to vacuum wars RUclips channel) Been loving my S5. Now I guess I’ll need to consider the S7
We bought an S5 based on your comparison recommendation, couple of years ago. So far it has served as well for vacuuming. We tried the mopping feature, but it was suboptimal, and faster to do it by hand. Now you have me curious if it's worth upgrading from the S5 to this one.
I'm thinking about buying this with the new auto emptying dock. What app is it that you're using? Is it the Roborock app or the Mi Home app and if you have used both which one is recommended?
I got my S4 early last year during an amazon sale. I picked the S4 based on your tests and recommendations. I love it. It runs once a day and the bin is full (2 large dogs and a cat + 2 kids), so I have to empty it myself every morning. So auto empty would be great, but for the price of the S7 + what ever the bin will sell for I'll just have to empty it myself for another year or 2 till the price comes down. Thanks for the reviews though.
I really appreciate you introducing us to Roborock, I just absolutely love my S5 to death. Thank you for the recommendation. I go on and on to people at work about them and they've all bought them too. I'm definitely a brand loyalist now and when I get a bigger house will definitely get the auto empty bin system although I do love how the base is hidden away under my bed so I basically never see it except to empty it.
Thanks for the review! This looks great. I’ll be keeping an eye out for sales and the auto empty feature. Had the S5 for awhile now. It’s been a love hate thing. So many great things about it, but the “main brush might be blocked” error is chronic and annoying AF. So annoying, I ended up cutting down the bristles which helped decrease the frequency of the error, but surely negatively affects the performance. They need to update the software to allow for greater tolerance in brush resistance or it becomes practically unusable in some scenarios.
I just ordered the S7+ moments ago from Amazon (Oct 1, 2021) based upon Vacuum Wars wonderful videos 👍. I have a large 3,000+ Sq Ft home that the Roomba S9+ failed miserably on when trying to map it for about 30 hours with every light in the house burning! I am really hoping that the RoboRock LIDAR mapping will succeed for me. All 3 bedrooms (plus 2 other rooms) here have plush, medium pile carpets in them. The rest is tile. Hoping that the dreaded S7+ “error 5” issue has been solved, else this machine will ALSO go back to Amazon. Thanks Vacuum Wars for the great videos 👍
Roborock recently came out with a cleaning solution that is approved for use in the S7 - would love to see a mopping comparison with and without the cleaning solution!
Fantastic review! Which one climbs better over floor differences? s7 or S6 MaxV (for example elevated corridor and all rooms are 1,5sm lower on level) 🍻
Thank you! Roborock says this one's max climbing height is 20mm. You can compare that to other robot vacuums' "max climbing height" with our comparison tool if you'd like - www.vacuumwars.com/compare-roborock-s7-vacuum-cleaner
Nice review. That no go mop zones with mop lift were the things missing. Never use the mopping function on my S5 for those reasons. Dont know where to put in a software request but love to see a function that lets the bot run diagonale lines instead of parallel to walls. I got tile flooring with pretty deep, rounded grooves and the S5 rocks, jumps and rumbles around hitting those grooves at 90 degrees with that small, hard front wheel. Or maybe just enlarge the wheel….
How do you do multiple floors? Just take it upstairs and release it and take it back to it’s charging station when it’s done? Guessing it wouldn’t fall down the stairs while trying to go back to charging station downstairs.
I love your vids! I’m looking for the best robo vac to pick up long hairs. I was sad to see this one gets tangles. What is the best robo vac for picking up hairs? The Roomba s9 seems like a winner from what I’ve seen, but it is prob a bit too expensive for me so excluding that one, what rules the roost for long hair pickups with minimal tangles?
Thanks for a review! Liked it and your precious review for a Roborock E4. I wish you said in the review the actual number for suction in Pascals. For mine I even bought a monometer to figure out the real suction in Pa to assess suction power in watts.
Just got a 2nd one of these for my upstairs, which is all carpet (except the bathroom). It will not drive over my carpet at all with the mop attachment and side brush installed. The side brush gets tangled and the mop attachment causes too much resistance that the robot thinks it's stuck. I had to remove them for it to work. Not a super big deal. But means I have to reinstall all that stuff of I wanna mop my bathrooms. But I think I'm gonna skip mopping the bathrooms with the roborock, and instead use my Bissell steam mop. That's more sanitary and not too much more of a hassle.
Amazing review, however, I’ve seen some negative reviews regarding the S7 not functioning well on carpets, and apparently getting stuck? Is that true? And if so, how does it compare to the S5 Max on carpets? Other than the Air flow, is there any advantages to S5 Max Over the S7?
I'm also curious about carpet performance. Has anyone done a deeper test to see if it still has the same problem as the S5max with the roller overheating and turning off on taller carpets?
The manual mentions that you can use either the Roborock or Mi Home apps. Have you used both? Is one better than the other or are they both pretty much the same?
Hello, I’ve had my s7 for about a month and just recently noticed it scratches my timber floors. I only used it a handful of times before I noticed the scratches but they are quite bad. I think it may be due to the new brush and enclosure design. I also have an older model with bristle brushes and never had any problems. Really disappointing as I was looking forward to the new due to the improved mopping function. I will be returning my one.
I've been waiting for your review on this. The hair tangling isn't that great, it's something I didn't realise would be such a big issue but my ecovacs t8 is really struggling with it. On the other side, it's kind of interesting to see just how much hair 3 people actually lose over such a short period of time.
Do you have issues with mapping on the T8? Mine loses the map and doesn’t ever want to restore it so I have to remap my whole house. Wouldn’t be so bad if it would map it in one run but it’s constantly only mapping parts of rooms so I have to run it 4 or 5 times just to get a complete map :/
@@tankpug6086 I was having those issues more frequently when I first got it but it's been more reliable since, especially if I start it in a location where the surroundings are always the same (I use a corner in the hallway). When I do the mapping, I remove as many obstacles as I can (chair legs are a massive time consumer for it) and I set it to low power.
That’s what I do each time it maps. Close closet doors and pick up everything I can possible pick up and it still has issues. I finally got it to complete a map again. Love it when I’m not fighting the mapping. Other than that issue it’s a great vacuum. If it loses the map again, I think I’m going to look for something else for my main level and move this down to my basement family room
@vacuumwars Just wanted to give you heads up that Wyze has just released cordless vacuum and they are claiming some pretty impressive stats for $120. Any way you can test it?
Hi, I have been using s7 for 1 month, Happy with the result. I was trying to see a new vibrating feature of the mop but it is not noticeable. it looks like mop is stable. is it normal or something wrong with my robot? thank you
Great review. I´m looking at Ecovacs Deebot N8 PRO+ and Deebot T9+. I don´t know which one to pick. Is the T9+ a better choice? Or is the new Roborock S7 with the upcomming auto-empty dock a better choice? Hope you find the time to respond. Best regards Jon in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Did you test with an empty or full water tank? Im kind of curious if that makes a difference in pickup performance. I tend to leave mine empty but if it helps i would leave it full.
@@VacuumWars more weight, better seal on the floors = more pickup. Thanks for the videos though. I sent back my S9+ and am a very happy S7 owner now. The navigation improvement is so nice. Its like my robot gained 50 iq points.
@@scoty_does Can you use the vacuum function independently without the mop engaging and vice versa? How do you like it? We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance? Does it auto detect when the on-board bin is full and go back to the base for a clean or does it keep cleaning but doing a poor job because the bin is full? Does the robot detect when the outside waste bin bag is full?
@@shanew7361 Roomba has patented sensing when it is full, so in the US no the roborocks can't legally do that. I have a big dog that sheds, and emptying is not a problem as long as it runs regularly. Its not hard to empty the robot manually if it gets too full. Also the lidar robot can run in the dark, so mine runs very early in the morning in the parts of the house no one is in. Kitchen/living room/etc.. Oh yeah mapping is crazy fast with lidar, use pin & go and you can map a big house in maybe 10 minutes. Start the first cleaning, you will see the map start to form. Pause the cleaning then send the bot to the corners of the current room, just keep exploring until the map is complete. This can take days with a roomba. A roomba S9 didnt finish a map in 4 days so i sent it back. Mopping is a separate function i dont use alot, ive done it a few times it seemed to work ok, but generally i leave the mop attachment off and it cant activate.
Thx for the video! I guess you mentioned but just to confirm: About the "No mopping" areas, how does that work? On my first floor I have a mix of hardwood and carpet, could I do on same run, have it mopping the hardwood and whenever it gets into the "no mopping" zone, it "lift" or whatever the mopping fabric to not mop my carpet? Or I must be careful to not have mixed surfaces when vacuuming and mopping?
Thank you for the awesome review! Can you please make a video comparing the roborock s7 to the irobot i7? Because they both have rubber brushes and I’m curious to which is better bc i’m looking into buying one of the two!

Great review, thank you! The Deebot T9 hasn't yet been released worldwide, but looking at the specs and videos by people who already own the T9 AIVI (with a similar brush to Roborock S7), what do you think of it compared to Roborock S7 or Deebot N8 Pro? I would buy one out of these 3 but don't know which one, so an opinion from an expert like yourself would be helpful to make the decision. The price isn't an issue, I would just like the 'best' one overall, of your choosing. I guess you couldn't give much of an opinion of T9 as you haven't tested it yet, but what would you say comparing Roborock S7 to Deebot N8 Pro at least? I would also wait to get the one I choose with a self-empty station.
Exactly! I also want to know what is the best overall as I am in the market for my first ever robot-vacuum cleaner and want to make the best choice! Mopping and self-emptying are important features for me.
@@FelipeRRM Same here, buddy! First robot vacuum purchase coming for me as well but the decision isn't as easy as I thought. Been doing a lot of research and watching a lot of Vacuum Wars and other videos regarding different robots but there isn't a one that has clearly stood out from the rest of the premium vacuums. It's still a lot of money to put in, so I also want the most out of it :)
I bought a T8AIVI for my retired parents in China since release in last April (I didn't buy the auto-empty bin system because it came out nearly 4 month later); it works great: it can vacuum pretty much up to a 1200sqft(2000sqft apartment if you count furniture space) in one run with approx 40% battery left at medium suction power on granite/tile floor. The OZMO moping is really useful for most of room with single use cleaning pad: you can reuse it for no less than 3 times and it is way easier to clean compared to reusable mop. T8AIVI in China comes with OZMO but it sales separately outside of China; my advice is "Don't get it unless it is free": it is an useful tool but the limitation is the lack of self-cleaning (maximum sqft it can cover is approx. 4-600sqft and I figure it is pretty much the size of 2 American on-sweets); so if you dont want to chase it down to clean up the pad, don't pay for this. The AI avoidance is useful for avoiding flip-flops/socks but it requires 1. sufficient lighting: i.e, it will not avoid the object if it is placed under sofa or some dark storage room 2. and proper contrasting between object and background in the room: my parent's well furnished granite reflects light too much light And with any premium laser robot: it does not perform well with anything 1. highly reflective (glass/chrome surface) 2. drapes(sofa or bed that has drape: it may recognize it as a wall and it may stuck in there; and it recognize curtain as wall too) If you are the first time user of any robotic vacuum, may be starting off with cheaper/entry-level robot first: I had been using 620 since 2013 until switching to Xiaomi Mi Robot vacuum: one of the earliest laser bot in late 2016; here is my two-cents about the AI robot: 1. they are way better than SLAM/entry-level robot in terms of clean and time 2. but the improvement from Laser-SLAM/V-SLAM to AIbots are minimal: laser-SLAM robot can't recognize socks but it certainly maps out the room pretty well. Remember none of this robot achieve entirely hands-off operation; so you might be happier by buying Laser/V-SLAM and getting used to a laser bot operation (prepare wires/clean up socks/flip-floppers/poop) before you complain about getting a 500+ premium robot that will do these job NOT 100% of time due to environmental circumstances. don't
One thing I hate about smart vacs is that they require a cloud connection. Can you comment on that? I hate having too rely on them and having to worry about privacy and the possibility that one day they might shut down the servers, nullifying the reason why I bought it in the first place.
We got S5 max mostly because of the very same reason (Bernese Mountain Dog) and it is amazing. I mean it still depends on how much your dog actually sheds, how thorough are you about grooming it and how often you intend to run the vacuum, but it still does a great job resisting the tangles. IIRC S6 has very similar if not exactly same brush mechanism.
Hair tangle is a big deal breaker for me as I have two cats. Also lack of avoidance detection with a vacuum is also bad for cat toys. Thanks for testing it out.
Bought it a few months back, and have been very happy with it! But was still very excited to see your review, and to see if i made a good purchase :-) Thanks for your videos.
We sell s7 replacement dust bags on Amazon, which are exactly the same as the original ones. If you need, you can contact me and I can give you a discount.
I'm confused... Roomba i7+ which you were impressed with the cleaning mechanism or Roborock s7 which replaced your previous go-to Ecovacs (confused which one: Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI or Deebot N8 Pro+)?
Absolutely. No idea why they haven't done this yet - I'm in the market for a new lawn mower myself, but due to the hassle and uncertainty of setting up for a robot mower, I may just get a gasoline mower instead.
Is the Ecovacs Deebot N8 Pro+ Robot Vacuum still your favorite robot vacuum as stated in your video description area or is this one with its charging doc? I’m trying to decide between the 2.
Can you use both the standard dock and the self emptying dock at the same time? For e.g having each dock at different floors. How would the s7 behave when moving it between floors?
Was kind of hoping for some more mopping tests tbh like medium and thick pile carpet seeing if the mop raised enough to keep them dry. Also why aren't noise tests and step up tests not a usual with robot vacuums yet ?
@@ThinJuzzy82 i have this vac, it raises 5 mm, so only very low pile carpet, it's also incorrect what he said that when docking you dont need the mat and the pad doesnt touch the floor, it does touch it because the dock leans the vac a bit further back.
ok why do all improved (newer versions) products usually have 1 issue that was fixed but comes back ie: Hair The prev model(s) fixed that! Now it looks to be an issue this S7 looks to be a great vac but for me idk --->> how bad for hair I got 2 cats & a dog. Great Vid!!
I wish Roborock would make a S7 without a mop feature and bigger debris holder. My basement is all carpet so I don't need the mop feature. Also, I have a S6 MaxV and while I love it, it kinda sucks at picking up stuff, even at high power. I don't know if it's because you don't use thicker carpet during your test or what. like have a tiny piece of paper on the carpet and the roborock will just go over it and leave it on the floor. I was hoping the S7 would have more suction power, but maybe the new brush design helps fix this issue. Lastly, never buy a product with a promise of a feature coming. There have numerous examples of this where the promise never actually came out. Ecovacs did eventually come out with their Auto-Empty feature, but it took a while.
Hi, How does this one compare to Xiaomi Viomi S9, they are about the same price in my country and the Viomi S9 has the self-empty bin included already.

I was looking forward to your review of the S7, thank you very much!
I've never had this problem with mine!
I've got a medium/thick carpet and in black... No issues mate... Get nice vacuum lines thou
Actually I lie, I bought a third party replacement kit on Amazon with the filters and brush roll and such, and it was giving me 'remove the main bushroll' error also. I had to just take it out and put it back in a few times and it seems to be working fine now!
I think that it would be interesting to see a behind the scenes video of making the tests!
Apparently, the rubber brushes used on the S7 and on Roombas as well are more likely to leave scratches on floors vs a soft brush that has been traditionally used on Roborocks up until now.
Would like this answer as well!
Hey, 9 months later I was wondering if you went with S7 or a different one?
@@T3AMKILL I'm still on the fence. Using a s5 max until I see how it fares after people have been using if for some time.
"I'm going to move the dock and hope that doesn't happen again." - did that help?
@@melprophet1936 good to know. Thanks for the reply. 😊
Watching info about vacuums has never been so interesting lol
Thank you for the review! I would really love to see this compared to the Deebot T9
There a reviews from China of this product also showing the auto-empty bin. I don’t read Chinese subtitles but the auto empty bin looks to have no disposable bags. That is a huge plus.
That is correct. You can either use a disposable bag or just dump it(similar to dyson/without touching it)
Got one of these and it's great. Loving it.
I’m looking forward to that self empty bin
I am too do you still have the deebot t8 aivi
Would you consider narwal t10 over roborock s7?
The auto emptying system is bagless!!! FINALLY! At least the trees don't need to be cut down to make the awful bags.
@@ikusanjay - Nah, I'd go S7 over Narwal
So am I, but I doubt it will be any good for my need. We have two long haired dogs and wooden floors. Every day I have to cut the fur out of the roller and blow the dust out of the filter on our S5.
Getting my first ever robot vacuum and your review helped me settle on the s7. I have no idea what to expect but this seems like a fantastic choice due to it's hardware, app, durability, and upgrade options. I like how I can get the auto-empty dock if I want in the future. Thanks and new sub here!
We’ve had ours a month. Love it. Only concern this far is when we can get additional pads! And the auto empty bin (someday).
If you pre order in Australia 🇦🇺 you get 30 free additional disposable mopping pads + extra 6 month warranty

Did you have any problems with connecting vacuum to app? Mine is keep disconnecting. Any tips? :D
Yes it’s so annoying to watch so many of these videos and still not be closer to a decision being made
The way the analysis is done is extremely technical yet not based around a set of criteria that allows for practical envisioning of values.
It’s just too much
Roborock is amazing just knowing that it counts how many hours it gone for and thus saved me, give so much more time back to my weekends.
This is great to hear! thank you for commenting!
@@VacuumWars is this the current best robot vacuum?
We are selling Dust Bag for Roborock S7 / S7+ Vacuum Cleaner Auto-Empty Dock on Amazon, which are exactly the same as the original ones. If you need it, you can contact me and I can send it to you for free.
Can you test and see if the new roller can be attached to the older vacuums like the S6?
No, it’s a totally new system.
Love my S5 max. Navigation and pickup is top notch on hard floors. I don’t need the bin because I like that it hides away under the sideboard. Would recommend roborock for sure. Sounds like great improvements on the S7.
I’ve often watched and appreciated your reviews here on RUclips, but I forgot to say thank you. So thank you vacuum wars!
Hey thanks. I appreciate that.
In case you read this, there are videos of the Roborock self-empty dock in action. It's only available in China as far as I'm aware (For now at least). But it's been proven to work
Thanks!
@@VacuumWars would you say this is currently the best vacuum robot map combo on the market? And if not what else should I look at? Thanks. Great video as always.
I would love to see just a mopping battle between Roborock S7 vs iRobot Braava Jet.
Thanks.
I saw an Ecovac (T9, I think Japan release only so far) that had almost the exact same roller as an iRobot, and this roller design also looks like it might infringe on that old patent.
yes unfortunately they copied it
The iRobot patent covers "Autonomous floor cleaning robots that use counter-rotating extractors."
They don't have a patent on the materials used for the extractors, just if they're counter-rotating or not. At least as far as I'm aware
Deebot T9 AIVI copied the Roomba I7 rollers
well i know the new deebot t9 aivi will have counter-rotating brushes like the roomba with aeroforce technology
irobot should keep the patent for itself and not let other companies do the same
Now that the self emptying base is available, we will be replacing our roomba s9+ with this.
I'm finishing up a comparison today of the S7 and Roomba s9 for tomorrow.
( you should of seen our faces when we both referred to vacuum wars RUclips channel)
Been loving my S5. Now I guess I’ll need to consider the S7
That's awesome! Thanks!
Same! I bought the S5 when the VW video came out with the recommendation and it’s been excellent. We’re also going to upgrade to the S7 now too!
How did the S5 do with picking up pet hair? I saw another comment saying it clogged it.
thank you for the review but would you recommend this or the Irobot i7+ can you please do a video by comparing the 2?
We bought an S5 based on your comparison recommendation, couple of years ago. So far it has served as well for vacuuming. We tried the mopping feature, but it was suboptimal, and faster to do it by hand. Now you have me curious if it's worth upgrading from the S5 to this one.
did you end up doing it?
@@javianbrown8627 no sir. Got the irobot j7+ when our s5 died, as repairs were too much. Sold the s5 for parts.
I'm thinking about buying this with the new auto emptying dock. What app is it that you're using? Is it the Roborock app or the Mi Home app and if you have used both which one is recommended?
Great video. Waiting for comparisons with other Roborocks and other brands
I'm glad to have helped and am super glad you are so happy with it!
Thanks for the video, which robot has the best mopping function? Either roborock or other brand
I really want to take a look at this machine. Great review as always. Can’t wait to see another upright vacuum review. Any plans on one soon?
Thanks! Maybe? There's been so many new releases to tackle.
It would be really interesting to see how this performs with the old brush roll, if it's a straight swap.
No, it’s a totally new system.
Thank you and good input!
Never had that issue with mine.. shrug

@@VacuumWars Thanks a lot! Today I watched quite a lot of your videos, they are awesome! Keep the great work up! ;)
Between the s7 and the t8 aivi which would be considered superior?
We're ready to invest in a robot vacuum. We subscribed to your channel. Our biggest concern is human hair pickup. We love your tests. So thorough!
Thank you 🤗
How do you do multiple floors? Just take it upstairs and release it and take it back to it’s charging station when it’s done? Guessing it wouldn’t fall down the stairs while trying to go back to charging station downstairs.
I was looking for a good RUclips channel about autonomous vacuums with a knowledgeable cool dude saying interesting things and I am not disappointed.
Thanks!!
Thanks for a great review. I would love to see it compared to the Roomba S9.

Looking forward to the Auto-Auto-Empty Dock Dock that takes care of the Auto-Empty Dock's trash.

We probably do! (blush) thank you!
That's more sanitary and not too much more of a hassle.
thank you man, been waiting for this video since march, now I will definitely buy it😁
Hope you enjoy it!
hairs will not damage the brushes?
Amazing review, however, I’ve seen some negative reviews regarding the S7 not functioning well on carpets, and apparently getting stuck?
Is that true? And if so, how does it compare to the S5 Max on carpets?
Other than the Air flow, is there any advantages to S5 Max Over the S7?
That's frustrating, I'm still waiting fora good value med-high pile carpet robot vacuum
I'm also curious about carpet performance. Has anyone done a deeper test to see if it still has the same problem as the S5max with the roller overheating and turning off on taller carpets?
I watched in other of your videos that you used to use in you house the deebot T8, what would you prefer deebot or the ine in this video
The S7 Auto Empty Dock sucks debris out of the brushroll. There is an air-inlet port
My carpet is a bit thick, how much can the S7 handle?
Hi! thanks for yet another cool video. do you have a comparison between s7 and s7+? can't quite figure the differences and choose a right one for me
The + means it comes with an auto empty bin. Otherwise, the robot vacuum should be the same.
@@VacuumWars thanks 🙏🏻
The manual mentions that you can use either the Roborock or Mi Home apps. Have you used both? Is one better than the other or are they both pretty much the same?
Hello, I’ve had my s7 for about a month and just recently noticed it scratches my timber floors. I only used it a handful of times before I noticed the scratches but they are quite bad. I think it may be due to the new brush and enclosure design. I also have an older model with bristle brushes and never had any problems. Really disappointing as I was looking forward to the new due to the improved mopping function. I will be returning my one.
Hi, I'm waiting your video for Roborock q7 max!
I like your review of S7 and it's my choose now, but I'll wait for Q7 max.
@@tankpug6086 if I was buying again, I'd go for a roborock or a roomba. My friend has a roborock and he absolutely loves it.

Yeah. This will work. You can use the no mop lines as well as its carpet recognition ability.
@@VacuumWars right but what it does in practice? It will lift the mop and not touch the carpet? Or it will mop the carpet same way?
so is there any reason to get the i7? Maybe it's better on hard floors/dusting etc ?

T9 AIVI is the one to get
I bought a T8AIVI for my retired parents in China since release in last April (I didn't buy the auto-empty bin system because it came out nearly 4 month later); it works great: it can vacuum pretty much up to a 1200sqft(2000sqft apartment if you count furniture space) in one run with approx 40% battery left at medium suction power on granite/tile floor.
The AI avoidance is useful for avoiding flip-flops/socks but it requires
1. sufficient lighting: i.e, it will not avoid the object if it is placed under sofa or some dark storage room
2. and proper contrasting between object and background in the room: my parent's well furnished granite reflects light too much light
And with any premium laser robot: it does not perform well with anything
1. highly reflective (glass/chrome surface)
2. drapes(sofa or bed that has drape: it may recognize it as a wall and it may stuck in there; and it recognize curtain as wall too)
If you are the first time user of any robotic vacuum, may be starting off with cheaper/entry-level robot first: I had been using 620 since 2013 until switching to Xiaomi Mi Robot vacuum: one of the earliest laser bot in late 2016; here is my two-cents about the AI robot:
1. they are way better than SLAM/entry-level robot in terms of clean and time
2. but the improvement from Laser-SLAM/V-SLAM to AIbots are minimal: laser-SLAM robot can't recognize socks but it certainly maps out the room pretty well.
Remember none of this robot achieve entirely hands-off operation; so you might be happier by buying Laser/V-SLAM and getting used to a laser bot operation (prepare wires/clean up socks/flip-floppers/poop) before you complain about getting a 500+ premium robot that will do these job NOT 100% of time due to environmental circumstances.
don't
Thank you, Are you going to test the new Ecovacs T9+? It is very interesting
One thing I hate about smart vacs is that they require a cloud connection. Can you comment on that? I hate having too rely on them and having to worry about privacy and the possibility that one day they might shut down the servers, nullifying the reason why I bought it in the first place.
I’ve got a dog that sheds like it’s her full time job. Should I go with the S6 for the hair tangles?
We got S5 max mostly because of the very same reason (Bernese Mountain Dog) and it is amazing. I mean it still depends on how much your dog actually sheds, how thorough are you about grooming it and how often you intend to run the vacuum, but it still does a great job resisting the tangles. IIRC S6 has very similar if not exactly same brush mechanism.
@@Vojtas35 thank you!
Hair tangle is a big deal breaker for me as I have two cats. Also lack of avoidance detection with a vacuum is also bad for cat toys. Thanks for testing it out.
Same. Looking for a pet vac.
Bought it a few months back, and have been very happy with it! But was still very excited to see your review, and to see if i made a good purchase :-) Thanks for your videos.
Good to hear you are happy with it. Thanks!
We sell s7 replacement dust bags on Amazon, which are exactly the same as the original ones. If you need, you can contact me and I can give you a discount.
Would you buy that over the S5 Max ?
Does it work on black carpet? Because my S5 won't touch it. Thinks it is a drop-off.
Please review the 360 S7! They always have good deals on these vacuums on amazon. :)
I'm confused... Roomba i7+ which you were impressed with the cleaning mechanism or Roborock s7 which replaced your previous go-to Ecovacs (confused which one: Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI or Deebot N8 Pro+)?
They should build a robot lawnmower with small local gps system, so you dont need to put out a guidecable
Absolutely. No idea why they haven't done this yet - I'm in the market for a new lawn mower myself, but due to the hassle and uncertainty of setting up for a robot mower, I may just get a gasoline mower instead.
My wife works at iRobot, and she said that they are working on a lawn mower to be released in 2022. Don’t quote me on that though.
Is the Ecovacs Deebot N8 Pro+ Robot Vacuum still your favorite robot vacuum as stated in your video description area or is this one with its charging doc? I’m trying to decide between the 2.
You are looking at two really solid choices there.
Can you use both the standard dock and the self emptying dock at the same time? For e.g having each dock at different floors. How would the s7 behave when moving it between floors?
What robot vacuums should I be looking at if I want to clean floors in a multi-storey house?
will the no mop zones mean it avoids the room altogether or will it still vac?
Was kind of hoping for some more mopping tests tbh like medium and thick pile carpet seeing if the mop raised enough to keep them dry. Also why aren't noise tests and step up tests not a usual with robot vacuums yet ?
step up you mean thresholds? it's same as S6, 2cm. But i agree 6 min for a review is lacking a lot of info
@@xeon2k8 yeah those, thanks
Yes, please provide more info on what type of carpet pile the mop raiser will still work with. I read that it only raises a few mm.
