I remember awhile ago, I was playing board games with some randos, and battlefront 2 came up in the conversation, and one of them said that they didn’t like battlefront 2 because they had to pay to get Darth Vader, when this was like, 3 years after the game released, after all of that changed, and after support was cut. It’s really sad to see people turn away from this game when it’s so fun to play right now, especially with mods like these, and I wanna thank you for compiling all this awesome stuff into one video.
The community of battlefront proves that when you remove the strict barriers of corporate the creative possibilities are more powerful than you can possibly imagine. If modders can make a game better than it was why can’t a triple A studio do this from the get go.
You said it yourself; Strict corporate barriers. For a AAA studio to put new things into liscensed projects, there are unfortunately a ton of hoops and planning that you need to go through. If they wanted to add Ashoka, for example, they'd have to 1) Get their Publisher to even consider it. (If it'd be profitable and worth the effort to even put them in the game at all.) 2) Have said Publisher go to the company that owns the IP and ask for the rights to use the license(s) for them, which usually involves a ton of money and contracts. If it's a license that is owned by numerous studios, then that has you walking on thin ice of legalities, unless if all companies can agree with you making money off of something they all own, and allow violence to happen to said character. 3) If that all works out after months- if not years of planning, then you can finally start development on the character. 4) If you want the original Voice Actress for the role, then that's more money and contracts to go through from the IP owner(s). That's neglecting that the original VA may not want to take up the role again, and if that's the case- unless if the VA is pretty much owned by the company and is bound by contract to VA all roles regarding their character- then you're shit out of luck. There's a ton more that goes into it, unfortunately. But yeah; When you take out the corporate side of things in development, then of course a community will be able to do whatever they want with said IP, as long as they can prove that they aren't profiting from it. The second you make a single penny from an IP that you don't own, then that's a large lawsuit coming your way. More and more people are realizing that AAA games kinda just aren't worth it anymore. Indie titles are being increasingly embraced over time due to indie devs having the capability to be unhinged with their creative thinking, and really focus on what they love, making their game loved for years to come. I feel as if that's a good thing; Too many games are designed around manipulating it's players to spend that extra $20+USD for a microtransaction every other week. It's about time we had some games that were designed to simply have fun with IPs that we love.
I definitely hope with these moded servers you can make more .exe videos with the different heroes, that would be great for us and hopefully your channel.
With all this said, DICE has done a stand up job bringing this game up from what happened at launch. Just stupid EA being greedy and lazy and just forcing them to abandon the game outright.

I'm not defending EA btw but those guys were feeling like they were losing money with big star wars games and decided to go with small projects or neat ones like fallen order. we won't get battlefront 3 ever from EA but I'm glad at least PC community will make battlefront 2 last longer

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Kyber, wait till fully modded maps (fighting out of bounds in Vader Fortress) and heroes (all of them with different or highly adjusted abilities) come out....
This is incredible dude. This game would make much money if EA just gave a shit about the game and it’s community, and actually did something for the game, working with modders, idfk just something.
Now the only things left that modders haven't achieved are new maps that don't replace existing ones and offline Galactic Assualt. I never thought we would come to this but the modding community continues to impress.
