Heey, very good questions! I had to try out! 1. I've waited for just around a minute. Out of three attempts it was tracking me in one of these occasions. But I was able to re-enable using the gesture. Thing is that the smartphone camera, if not recording, may automatically close too. 2. If you use a smartphone conversion plate, you can put the mount vertically and mount the camera using velcro... Doesn't look great, but works.

I bought one of these to replace my hohem Isteady. Big mistake, absolute junk. The AI being non face tracking means that often the top of your head is cut off. Or you have to put it on a tripod at an angle. Which means you can't use other features.
