How to take an Everglades tour

- No trip to the Florida Everglades could be complete without a proper airboat tour through the open marsh lands! There is no better way to get up close to the wildlife out there and believe me, there is a ton of it. Ospreys, herons, pythons, and of course lots and lots of gators! Alligators are everywhere down here! Every body of water could potentially have a gator in it! It makes for interesting fishing and swimming! I grew up in the central east where there aren't too many predators to worry about. However down here, fishing is a little different when there are things lurking around that look at you the same way you look at that sweet trout!
So the Everglades is chock full of airboat companies. They are everywhere and can vary greatly with price and experience. Some offer a quiet ride through the mangrove tunnels, other companies will rip across the marsh as fast as you can handle. Some companies have airboats that fit 20 people where others only hold 3 or 4. You will get a different experience from different companies and reading reviews online in search of the best Everglades tour will make you dizzy.
Another thing to consider - The West side of The Everglades has Mangrove trees galore. The water flows through them like canals. They are the mangrove tunnels. Flying through there in an airboat is also a really cool experience. ( I did that too.) The west side or the Miami side is mostly marsh which is where I filmed this ride. Both will have gators to safely see from the boat but again, the experience will always be different depending on the size of the boat, the pilot (driver), the area you're in, and also the company you’re with. This means that if you take a tour with other people, and there are young kids or old people, then you probably won’t have the most exciting ride BUT that may be just what you’re looking for, a nice leisurely eco tour or alligator tour. Both ways are amazing.
My advice - Expect to try a couple of companies out. Plan to spend about $100 dollars and that should get you 3 or 4 rides. HOWEVER - This ride that I did here was a private ride and those will always cost more. It has to make sense for the company to run their boats so essentially by going alone or with 2 people you will actually be paying for 3 or 4 people. The benefit is huge in my opinion as its a much more personalized trip.
Keep in mind, there are no Everglades airboat tours in the actual Everglades National Park. The are all situated around the outskirts of the different parks that are there.
The first of 2 places I tried out was Captain Jack's Airboat Tours in Everglade City. They're known to be a little more sporty and that was fun. Plus they are reasonably priced probably due to the fact that there are literally 5 other airboat companies next door. These guys were great and its through the Mangrove tunnels which was cool.
The second place was where I filmed this video. Captain Ozzie at Everglades Nature Tours provided an awesome experience. Airboat tours in the everglades are such an amazing experience and I’m lucky I found a great company like ENT. Now if only the ride included sunglasses replacement.

I live close by the Everglades I would always get scared cause since I’m close by alligators will come near by my house but we moved so I’m ok now
Went on an airboat in the Everglades once. Never again. All I could think of was alligators. A friend lived on a canal and I always checked before going outside. I am petrified of gators.
That was going to be the biggest airport but it was cancelled
