Nice one both!. Typical, the month i couldn't go to the fair... Moseley fair is excellent, deals to be had and the traders are friendly ..by the way, i'm Rob with the pink attic that Gav mentioned.
David… really enjoyed your tag a long video. I think you guys would be a great deal of fun to hang around. I love the seeing the records you found. Well done.
Dave’s reaction to the Alison Moyet price..priceless. May Blitz is one I want. I don’t care, just a reasonably priced reissue like the one you showed in a recent video. “You need an excuse to shop without guilt. That’s the important part”…”Can you turn the heat down? It’s a bit warm “…A solid 8/10 rating for the fair from Gav, “Cut the Crap”…”I’ve caught him in the heavy metal section”…amazing pickups for $10! I need to adopt that strategy at my next record fair. Although, those are not as prevalent here as in Boston but I have Revolver around the corner. Wire…I had a couple of records way back. but traded them in other than “The Ideal Copy”…Embryonic Brian would’ve questioned my decision.
Like this roving reporter car style. I might get a phone holder for the car, so I can drive round the block, get some footage, park up and walk to the record fair like I usually do ; ). Nice to see people out n about. Gav looked like he meant business, he certainly had a certain swagger about him that I hadnt seen. Made for a good tag team. Plaudits for actually filming the record fair, would have liked a couple of more interesting bin rummages but cant complain. Saw alot of new ACR at my last fair (I think they're in my vid), yes they've got better. I did get a new sealed WHO (2019) at the last car boot, that too was a dealer offloading. Some good pick ups ther, why not
I don’t find many vinyl channels these days as I’ve found most of them by now and it never fails to only take one minute to know if I’m going to subscribe
It is that time of year when the majority of us overspend. . Literally a couple of albums into when I started buying vinyl cd came out. So I purchased Brothers In Arms & never went back to vinyl - except I was given a small collection from a friend - whos kept his cds but has moved into streaming
I love Gaz's phrase 'bin fodder'. A lot of those singer songwriter albums from the eighties have gravitated out of those bins and now cost a little bit. Rob Ison is the other Brummie on the VC.
Love it, jealousy aside, of course you pick up strange looking things when there are new and only 10or 5 £ . You got my subscription with ACR, I bought the same for around the same money in Madrid, love the remixes, but you almost lost my sub when you dissed Sakamoto, haha. You blessed yourself with a lot of goodies, well done!
A Certain Ratio [ACR] actually started off in the late 70s. They were on Factory Records with Joy Division/ New Order. I have seen them live many times including them supporting New Order. Interesting fact: Madonna once supported ACR. True that.
Hi David, Wife are always worth picking up in my experience. There are always a couple of stalls at Leeds record fair selling discounted new vinyl, and I nearly always come away with a bargain. Some lovely finds. Cheers Mike
When I went to the Austin Record Show in Oct, I focused on punk/new wave sections so I wouldn't have to spend all freakin' day flippin through bins. It was a good day, about 8 albums from my pretty short list in under 3 hours. Toy Dolls, I have a bunch of their stuff but hadn't listened in a while! My haul that day: Metro - Metro (1977) Radio Birdman - Radios Appear (1977) Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material (1979) Killing Joke - Killing Joke (1980) The Gun Club - Fire of Love (1981) Simple Minds - Sister Feelings Call (1981) Wipers - Youth of America (1981) The Birthday Party - Jukyard (1982) Agent Orange - This is the Voice (1986) The Chameleons - Strange Times (1986)
Some fine albums there, and a couple I don't know. I love the Metro one. Sister Feeling Call is good too. I never knew them at the time but have come to like Radio Birdman. There's a lot of love for that Chameleons album, but I've never heard it.
Just a fantastic haul David. The Young, Cave, Waits we’re no brainers. Some misses are to be expected with blind buys, but at least they weren’t full price misses. I found a dealer at the Barcelona record fair who was selling 5€ sealed cheapies from Bandcamp. I picked up about five of them and I wish I had grabbed more. Make sure you save your pennies for the trip to Buffalo this summer. Cheers my friend.
Cheers Jack. Sometimes, at these prices (and your five Euro ones), you have to take a punt. Hard veto not get carried away, although I am cognisant of the pennies necessary to fund Summer trips in 2025!
Nice looking record fair. You got some fabulous sealed LPs. I have a copy of the record from A Certain Ratio. I got a deal on it too. I have the Wire album, too. I really like it. I'm a Hassell fan, so that one sounds intriguing. Interesting Radiohead release.
The Radiohead album is well worth getting. I enjoyed that Hassell album so much on initial listening, I bought another (which arrived today - 'The Surgeon of the Nightsky Restores Dead Things by the Power of Sound'(!)). Definitely intriguing, if that first album is anything to go by.
Great fun those record fares are, we had a big one here late November but I missed it as I was sick in bed for a few days. Disappointed as there are very few record fares to attend here in Vancouver, maybe two or three a yr, not enough interest I assume. Good haul I see, the new sealed for £10 ($15cdn) are quite the score. I have passed on the Neil Young before as I just don't need yet another live NY album but at that price I'm in. A lot of the rest I'm not familiar with but seem interesting. Oh and love the end declaration of "That's it for this week's spending". I noticed it took a while to think of a reasonable amount of time in which you know may not be achievable lol. Cheers 🥂.
Excellent filming. - who’s the handsome chap with you ? Oh wait - it’s me ! I notice you didn’t mention you elbowing and shoulder charging the elderly women and young children out the way to get to that £10 new vinyl stash !! We could become the new Eric and Ernie! Or hinge and bracket Had a great day and a very nice lunch too 🎉
Nice coverage of the event and interesting debrief after this, David. Did you swing by Ikea on your way back home 🙂? The Certain Ratio record peaked my curiosity, thanks for sharing...
Great video David. Record fairs can be hit and miss, I try to go to them all locally and I usually go to the CD section first as most are not interested and they can be very cheap. Records are way overpriced and most of the time the CD sounds better.
I think, if you have the space for CDs as well as vinyl (I've been putting mine in plastic wallets and getting rid of jewel cases), record fairs are brilliant for picking up bargains. The guy I bought the new vinyl from pointed to his display box of CDs and said "Just take what you want".
Very interested in hearing that A Certain Ratio, theye been a band that have been getting better and better, whereas New Order and been getting worse & worse. I'm a big fan of that Sister Sledge album contains 'Pretty Baby' which is wonderful, Johnny Marr nicked the opening of the track 'Easy Street' for 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' he was a huge Chic fan.
Nice one both!.

Cracking video and content David. like the 2 parter format. 👍
Hey David. Great video and scores. Love that Road soundtrack, as well as that PJ Harvey album! Cheers

Thanks! Sorry I was disparaging about the Sakamoto record. Interesting, just not one of his best. 😊

Mike you may need to change a word in there, mad me chuckle. You're a scoundrel 😀
Phil.....😂😂....made me laugh when I read it....U never know, might've picked one up🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣😂
@@philipmatthews7128 Oh dear. Autocorrect strikes again🙄
@@kidSkidlo-71 No I didn't meet my wife at a record fair🤣🤣
That's me done for buying records.... for this week. Love it!! 😂
Good to see you both, that was a great vid. 😊
Cheers George. No London prices for me!!

Malvern Worcestershire - West of England 😂 It was always in the Midlands when I lived in Redditch.
David I dig the hell out of you, mate!
Hi Dave .. Loved the conversation in the car looked like a decent fair .. great video
I have that certain ratio album. I’m a fan 👍
I know next to nothing about them Rob. Passed me by in the 80s.
@ that Radiohead bootleg looked like a nice pick up
Newcastle is a bit of a hike from Moseley !!!

I feel exactly the same way about Neil Young live albums!

Great vid 😊
Those old women are always a nuisance!
Gav, your Oasis type swagger at 8:47 gave this video that extra touch
@ Ha ha glad you noticed ! You should see me on the dance floor doing my best Bez!!
Enjoyed the video, know most of the venues you mention also. FYI Malvern isn't in the West of the country 😂😂
It is! Not the West Country, but certainly in the west of England! Cheers for watching. 👍🏻
Nice coverage of the event and interesting debrief after this, David. Did you swing by Ikea on your way back home 🙂? The Certain Ratio record peaked my curiosity, thanks for sharing...
I've never been to a record fair. Thanks.
I think it's practically impossible now to get really cheap finds as Discogs and smartphones make everyone savvy!
Great video David. Record fairs can be hit and miss, I try to go to them all locally and I usually go to the CD section first as most are not interested and they can be very cheap. Records are way overpriced and most of the time the CD sounds better.

Oh damn Rothko, my old band :)
Radiohead live in Glastonsbury 1977 hey?
It must have been difficult to record that show considering they formed in 1985 😂
Ha ha! Well spotted. 😅
@davidatkinson-lifematters4826 😆

Just cleaned it and been playing it. The Chic Organisation's records always sound wonderful! Two quid - that's a winner.
Was that Radiohead recording in 1997?
It sounded like you said 1977.
I did! 🥴
Record Fair dealers trying to cover their stall & travelling costs. Organiser only charging £1 to get in suggests stalls weren't cheap
I asked. £35 to have a stall. I’ve been thinking about it.
Just translated it from Spanish, loco remezclada means 'crazy remixes'
That makes a lot of sense. It's a varied set, and really punchy.
nice collection checkout pychcotron records in sutton coldfield
I know Psychotron very well, cheers.
