I had a older white male teacher in college maybe 55 tell us on the first day to bring in a song that described us with no cursing. After the class went he drops this as his song and sings the whole thing word for word. Will never forget it.
This song is truly written by a genius. It's about the internal struggles we all face through life and our impending self doubt. The self doubt happens because of our knowledge of what we each learn through our life's. Each persons knowledge base is difference because we all have different paths. It makes us look at other people as if they are the crazy ones when in fact they look at us as if we are crazy. He is stating his acceptance of being crazy based on difference to put it aside and move forward. Truly a brilliant song with deep meaning.
This whole thing was genius. The video, the song being done in one take, all of it. The voice is like honey, the music itself is fantastic, the animation is like a tuxedo as the cherry on top. Never gets old. Never will.
"you really think you're in control?" The way he says that. There's a nuance to the emotion he uses that I can't define. It's a mixture of sarcasm, sadness, and defeat, but it's also kind and fraternal, like he's extending an olive branch to the listener to make peace with their situation. But all these little hints of emotion add up into something completely different and greater than their value combined, and I don't think our language has a word for it.
I remember when I woke up after my open heart surgery. Drugged up in Ketamine I listened to Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" on repeat for close to 6 hours straight. That song and it's lyrics were all I could focus on. I will never forget that night. I was waiting for the world to wake up and see I was still alive. The most surreal experience of a lifetime. I'm still never going to be able to explain it properly. The depth of that song explained my soul as it started a new chapter in my existence on this spining ball we call home temporarily.

Ink Static This came out the year after I graduated from college. I was driving an hour and a half each way to a soulless office job still dealing with leaving my college life & friends and “growing up” in the real world. I would play this song on repeat during the drive, it was a powerful song to me then and really moved me. Listening now it immediately transports me back to those somewhat sad times where I was truly lost. 14 years later and life is good and I’m thankful for music like this that helped me get through!
December 2024…. The black eyed peas were before our time really….. we need to ask ourselves where the love is these days for humanity…. And we truely only have one world! This song should be bigger than Taylor swifts era tour in many people souls! ❤
Vocals from old songs don't suddenly become ugly after a large amount of time has passed, now beat structure and things like flows / melodies start to sound outdated but vocals never just switch up and get ugly. Frank Sinatra, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouze , Nina Simone etc etc still have beautiful voices even after all this time
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard. The message resonated a lot with me when I was younger; there was so much synchronicity with how I was perceiving myself and the world listening to this song for the first time that almost everything I was understanding felt validated. Delivery of each of the verses into the chorus is brilliant. I still put messages like this in my songs.

This song has a lot more meaning when you've genuinely lost your own mind and recovered. Makes me think cee lo might have experienced something like it, or it's just a crazy coincidence that the lyrics make so much sense from that perspective.

I came here because of that comment.
Hozier (Too Sweet) copied the music, changed it a bit, but it is felt. I hope it happened by agreement of the parties.

Song is timeless. Doesn’t even feel like it’s that old.
This song makes you instantly remember a time and a place, you can remember the smells of a certain thing or the feeling/taste.. it connects deep
For me it was when I got my first MP3 player, my father had put this song on it along with all the popular pop songs of the era.
I still have it, and I don’t plan on throwing it out.

Same. This is one of the first songs I knew
December 2024…. The black eyed peas were before our time really….. we need to ask ourselves where the love is these days for humanity…. And we truely only have one world! This song should be bigger than Taylor swifts era tour in many people souls! ❤

What a perfect song. Even after all these years those vocals are beautiful
What a unique freaking cool voice
Vocals from old songs don't suddenly become ugly after a large amount of time has passed, now beat structure and things like flows / melodies start to sound outdated but vocals never just switch up and get ugly. Frank Sinatra, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouze , Nina Simone etc etc still have beautiful voices even after all this time

My husband and i would play this song a lot when he was still alive. It fit him well 🎉
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard. The message resonated a lot with me when I was younger; there was so much synchronicity with how I was perceiving myself and the world listening to this song for the first time that almost everything I was understanding felt validated. Delivery of each of the verses into the chorus is brilliant. I still put messages like this in my songs.
Just only got the message
This whole album
I didn’t realize how deep it was until I heard a version that was slower just about a year ago
Your right! I have never seen a RUclips video that didn't have any dislikes before! That is really how amazing that is for any artist.

Now that I’m older I definitely get the words and emotions behind this song. This song isn’t just a hit it’s a message behind this kind of music.
It's like when you put attention and doesn't get distracted by the beat.
Just like when Ceelo Green did with Goodie Mob in 1995.
Pay attention to Cell Therapy.
They were talking stuff very deep and it's happening today.Way ahead of it's time.

It's a message and in this message wrapped up is a deeper message and so on and on. It's like a box in box or the russian matryoshka doll's, but reverse.
