Beautiful books. I have Slaine Eagle Comic reprints, but they are nothing like those books. Pat Mills, what a legacy. Best to you from Texas, as always.
Hello! I'm from Brazil and I've been really enjoying your videos. The comic market here is quite diverse, with American, South American, European, Asian and even African works. Slaine was already published here a long time ago, but I wasn't interested in that kind of reading at the time (I'm only 19). Really hope that one day everything will be republished here and with a quality similar to this edition.
I love the fact that they rescanned original negatives and print it on big pages. It's stunning looking. Most of the previous releases was just scanned images from first edition pages.
Hi there. Just for the records. If I remember correctly, I've read somewhere that the colored version of the „Tír na nÓg“-map has been indeed produced exclusively for the anniversary edition ... ... but it's, of course, based on a black-and-white-version you'll find in volume 1 of the regular „Sláine“-edition ... und auf Seite 5 von „Morgendämmerung“, Band 1 der Dantes-Ausgabe (mit Handlettering des Übersetzers). Thanks a lot for another „thumbs up“ in the direction of the German edition ... it's highly appreciated! With a thousand Cheers, JRN
Wow, never heard of it! (which is the main reason I follow your channel). Too late to the party though, it's OOS everywhere. :) I may get the paperback anyway. Resellers are appearing in Ebay to no one's surprise (the downside of limited editiones…).
Actually this map (in colour) comes also in the 1998 Heavy Metal edition “Sláine, The Horned God - The Complete Story” published by Hamlyn in the UK. The colour in this edition looks definitely more vibrant (saturated) and the blacks deeper that any previous edition. Does it comes with any extra material?…
not too much, but it's okay: 8 pages of covers in color, 3 pages with chapter break illustrations, 1 page "dictionary" for some key "celtic" terms, 1 page afterword by mills, 1 page bios of Mills and Bisley
Slawn-Ya! that's interesting, thank you... even though I believe if I would talk about a comic called "Slawn-Ya" nobody would understand what I'm talking about 😁. And yes, Black Science is great!
@@earlgrey862 No way! a response! since I have you, I watched a video from yours the other day and the comic you were covering really stood out art -wise, I cant for the life of me find the right one now, but I have to ask, have you ever heard or covered Blackhole by Charles Burns?
Yeah, I've heard of that unknown and obscure book 😎 ... I have a whole Charles Burns-playlist, but panellogy 145 was about "black hole" proper (now I wonder how I did this in under 7 minutes???), while I showcased the studioedition of black hole in pan185.
Bisley's colour work really transgressed expectations of what colour rendering in comics could be, when it was released, certainly in 2000ad.The downside of that was the number of imitators of Bisleys style exploded and to my mind 2000ad seemed to promote this very obvious style plagiarism because it sold more copies.
It became boring to see so many imitators.'yet another Bisley RIP off'.One of the more convincing imitators (Chris Cunningham became a very good music video director.Look for Aphex Twin's windowlicker video.
Definitely getting this new print😍 I probably settle for the softcover version that is easier to get though. You already had a fine hardcover in German so this überbox was a logical step.
What a classic series! Loved it.

The map was originally on the back cover of 2000AD Prog 626, which featured the first part of The Horned God.

Simon Bisley couldn't have become the artist that he is without Frank Frazetta and Boris Valejo before him.

wow, they went quick :/
Amazing art. Never read this one. Waiting for the TPB version to arrive.
Don’t wait. They put out the soft cover out almost at the same time. I don’t think the american trade format is gonna happen.
@@fizroynelson thanks for the tip. Already bought the soft cover version 😉
@@DanielPereira-ge4uw just got mine in the mail. It is well worth it. My first edition is falling apart. They did a good job here.
Man besides storm , this was the second comic I read that was sick as fuck , and less for kids per say, as storm but this was further
A lot of (or all?) Booke One was also publshed in Heavy Metal (US edition) back in the mid 90’s.. My copy is lost now, sadly..
I see Walt supplied the books. They really spoil us with the selection and prices these days. Lucky you got it, as it got sold out.
I pre-ordered it about a year ago.... it felt like a decade though 🤣

Hey Earl Grey, love the videos, just wanted to say, as an Irishman, Slaine is pronounced Slawn-Ya :)
Also, have you ever read Black Science?
