Some historians suggest that it was the precolonial Philippines. Luzon and Mindanao islands are gold-producing locations similar to the description of Wakwak. Moens even suggest it could be based on our word "Bako-bako" (rugged) because our islands have many bays which results in the rugged appearance of our islands. Interestingly, we have a mythical creature called "wakwak" which are often times depicted as winged humanoids and they generally make the "wak-wak" sound like that here at 2:02.
Thanks, that was interesting. 1’30 is nariphon, a Siamese legend about a tree who bears maiden fruit. And and the photo belongs to that thai tradition. Did you find any connexion of waqwaq with Alexander/Iskandar ?
There are some miniatures staging Alexander talking to the tree in Shahnameh copies. However Alexander is usually mentioned with the "fountain of life". I will record a video about that too.
Hello , thank you for the lovely video, i have been trying to research this tree for my Bachelors thesis and keep hitting dead ends when it comes to the information required. It would be a great help if you could indulge me in some information or help answer some queries i have to give me more clarity / direction on my project, acknowledgements ofcourse will be given as a result. Let me know if possible for us to correspond over this . thanks 😌
