The purple algae is called Coraline Algae it makes the rocks look a deep purple its a sign that your tank is doing good.
Always mix your salt to 1.024

I have that skimmer...not very good...wood block clogs easily and it is hard to regulate the air bubbles...feed the Kenya zooplankton and watch it grow like a weed.....your friend CHRIS THE HOBBY GUY

Hey guys.... i have a question... can you tell me if the ONE spare switch on top controls all of the LED slots? and whilei'm at it... how do you have everything timed? I have this biocube skimmer too- but mine didnt come with a pump..... I dont have any coral just yet thank you
Yes. I'm pretty sure it controls all the extra LED slots. I don't have anything timed all of my plugs are plugged into a power strip
Guy this protein skimmer dont work ....its just a joke buyin it....spend extra dlls but get a better one....
