- I was very happy when I learned about this product. I typically mulch in the spring, and only when my mulch has worn thin. I know a lot of people like to mulch every spring and every fall because they like to have the fresh color. This product helps with that issue!

Nice! I was impressed with how easily the blue dye was to wash off before it was dry too 👍🏼
What a great presenter, clear, thorough without extraneous stuff. I will watch all of Lawn Whisperer, and take a renewed interest in my lawn 😎
No shit! So I have been breaking my back unload atleast 3 truck loads Evey year for how many damn yes now.. Thanks..I have NO clue how I even came across this..I was watching Squirrel videos..😂😜🐿️
So funny 🤣🤣🤣 havent seen squirrel’s videos…
Oh wait… i did.. that youtuber who made incredible complicated path in his backyard for squirels to overcome them /« compete » 😆 its quite entertaining😄
@@mitsuomits9077 I rehab squirrels I should make some squirrel videos..I have one that tries to help me do all kinds of stuff..I have to get some mulch and watch my little squirrel girl pack it down for me..lol.
@@marissaawesome2422 The videos is a good idea to show what you do. "I have to get some mulch and watch my little squirrel girl pack it down for me" 😂
You want it cheaper? Use regular fabric dye the one in bar or powder, add to boiling water after 5 minutes tur it off and wait to cool down just a little and then apply using the sprayer 👍🏼
Why don’t I know this already?!?? You have saved me so much money, and effort in my life!!! My prayers have been answered and my OCD soothed. Lol
I was just looking at that product online last week! Glad ya did a review. Might check it out since I usually get 8 yards of mulch every spring. Obviously a huge cost. This might be my answer to every other year!👍🏼
i used rubber mulch this year, after researching it. it was the way to go, no ants and the color lasts for 12 years. i have perennials so we put shingles down first as a weed block around all the plants cause the weed blocker sucks, its impossible to pull weeds out of it. plus using the rubber, your helping by recycling tires. win win win good luck oh, the initial cost was a bit more but the labor and time savings is well worth it.
Thank you! Saw this in the store and wondered if I should! 👍
Perhaps a better idea to make sure more mulch gets dyed: After the 1st application is put down and left to dry for a few hours, take a rake and gently drag it all around the freshly dyed mulch so you can bring some of the underneath un-dyed mulch to the surface. Then apply your second coat. Perhaps repeat this process again and then you won't have to worry about wind blowing the top layer of mulch and revealing the underneath faded layer.
That's a very good tip! I appreciate that input, thank you sir! I will do this in the fall when I freshen up the mulch I'll be putting down soon!
At that point, I’m just gonna glue all of the mulch together so it stays in place. 😂
Would it work to turn the mulch first? Which would also loosen it up a bit in case it has frozen in place.
Some people over think it, just spay the slop down and use the rest of the free time watching porn
@@mgoody8782 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love it ! Thanks Justin. I’ll definitely be picking some up.
And great job on all your editing. It probably takes a lot more extra time but it’s definitely appreciated !!
Definitely takes a long time! But I enjoy it so that helps!
Never knew this existed, thanks for the info! Looks amazing! 😎
Who knew this was a great recommendation definitely a money saver! Thank you for the great tip!
Great idea, this is the second video I’ve watched of yours and going to subscribe now. Thanks.
I switched to shredded black mulch and love it. Remains black unlike the drying wood.
Great job. Your edging is on point as well
Wow never thought of this. I'm redoing my mulch this year but will try the dye idea next summer. I envy you guys in the warmer climates here we still have significant snow in March.
Thanks for the valuable information saves a lot of time and money
Great idea!
Thank for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Lawn Whisperer. My black mulch is full of brown pine needles and hedge trimmings. I was dreading trying to clean it out. I think I will dye it instead. Thank you!!!!
Look amazing. Will definitely try it. Thanks
Thank you! I never knew that product even existed.
Great video. You literally just saved me hundreds of dollars and a few hours. Thanks
They sell a mulch glue that prevents the fading and allows you to blow off leaves without blowing mulch all over the place.
Just look under the term Mulch Glue
Tried this product not impressed at with it at all.
“Super fresh” he says... and “color is still holding strong” 💪 Good video 😎
#superfresh
I always wondered if you would re-dye your mulch. Sure enough, the product exists! Thanks for showing.
Lol I knew that was going everywhere when you shot water into the measuring cup for clean out! With that said, great idea, I may try it. Thanks.
I didn't even know this was a thing. Great video! Definitely going to try this.
Really like what you have done and very much appreciated all you went through to show this. Really like the edging, looks great. Where do you get the dye. I put down 10 to 12 new bags every year in an area about 8ft wide and 40ft long. Thanks again.
Straight to the point!! Tks men!
Wow! Gracias.
I was looking to do something with my mulch to make it look better, I can't remove some leaves and debris from the bushes I pulled out from the freezing temperatures we had in Texas but I'm sure this will help me out a lot to make it look even.
Do you know any way to kind of strain it from debris?
This is so awesome!!!!❤️
Nice video! I just bought some to try out. Hope all the landscapers are busy choppin.
Fantastic...both the flower bed edging and rejuvenation of mulch. I will keep looking but now that I have seen your videos I am just sbout ready to tackle my landscaping. One thing I still lack inderstanding how much mulch to fill my flower bed thank you so much for your professionalism and sharing with us.
Have you watched my "clean edges" video about edging beds?
Suggest buying a blend of mulch and compost. I buy something called "living mulch". It decomposes. Staying natural is the best way to go in the long run.
Awsome...did not know about this. Thank you
Learn something new every day....thanks
Love the smell test
Nice job...Like the DYE idea for Mulch, did not know that existed. I also like to see new plants and flowers in the flowerbed...lol!👍
Check my newer videos!
Thanks this was very helpful
Thank you! I will do this next year.
Thanks for the info!
That shirt is awesome!
Jimmy Lewis can get ya one!
Wow thanks . Great vid
Thanks for the great tutorial video 👍👏💙💜
You are welcome karen!
So with this product, what would you suggest? I usually mulch every 2 years (Red) and add 1-2 bags on the off year just to maintain good color. Removing the old mulch takes 3-4 hours and 20 or so yard waste bags. I could probably get by with replacing every 3 years and just rejuvenating on off years with this? Thoughts? Much thanks!
If you spray over leaves/debris does it hide them? I usually like the idea of throwing mulch over leaves and what not to let them decompose on their own...
Tip #1. Make your mix in the mulch bed. Not on your concrete or pavers. Any spillage or oops will be on the mulch.
Tip#2. Use a nice sized piece of cardboard and use it as a barrier so as not to overspray onto ANYTHING...👍🏻 By the way, love your videos. Just subscribed!
very interesting. Going to try this out this year so I can save my back..
I love it! Thanks!!
I’m wondering if I could mix the black & brown together. I have brown mulch (they don’t sell black mulch where I live) but I like the look of darker mulch. I think I’d need too much dye to turn the whole thing black but maybe adding some black in will enrich the color a bit, make it look more like it does when it’s wet.
I can also spray the weeds if I mix one batch with weed killer.
Good idea I will buy it every year
Excellent video. Never knew this product existed. Will this harm shrubs, hydrangeas or hostas?
Clever & Saves Money! 👍🏽
Thanks cool. Wonder if you could use this stuff to stain my patio??
Friend, another great video! I appreciate you taking the time to do these ..... really helps me learn who it is I am living amongst here in the USA 🇺🇸
I like that another product I can put in my sprayer
GENIUS !!!! Thanks
Whenever I lay new mulch/woodchips...even rocks, I always hit it with a coat of Thompsons water seal. Say what you want but you can't argue with success. It really does work and I've done that for 20 years.
Dude that's awesome thanks..👍
Didnt know this existed. What a great tip
Thank you for sharing this!!! We will offer this to our clients!!
Awesome idea! Oh no, black dye is sold out. Will have to try an alternative brand. Thanks for the video 🙌🏻
I love your tips! Do you take questions on landscaping? I would love to get your thoughts on my front yard flowers I want to use. Thank you
I will answer the best I can! Flowers are still an area I’m researching and gaining knowledge myself!
Wow! Who knew? TY! ❤
Looks good. I may have to try in the fall. I like mulching in the spring and by fall its faded. Looks like I could use this the keep the beds looking fresh later in the season.
I am the same!
It looks like a neat product for fall refresh that I could use on my camp and rental properties. The links to Amazon doesn't carry Lawnstar anymore, is the one from EnviroColor at Lowes similar? I also want to say, thanks for all of the edging tips, it inspired me to try a half moon edger because most powered ones doesn't go through farmland clay. Thanks to your advice, my new edges look nice and maintaining the ones I hired done a year ago not as intimidating to clean up & much cheaper!
Everyone's had the cup rinse overspray experience... best part of the video
😂🤦♂️
Love lawnstar products
I just pour my used motor oil on it when I do oil changes. Looks great and makes getting rid of the oil easy!
I know,you wish you thought of that!😊
Excellent
I've used a similar product on our pine straw mulch - extends the life of the pine straw and lasts about 4 to 5 months. It's recommended to wet down any concrete, rocks, etc. that you don't want stained prior to spraying. Well worth it especially when my pine straw expenses run around $280 +/- every 6 or 8 months.
Use a piece of cardboard attached to a rake for over spray areas and no cleanup. I use it all the time when spraying round up or products like this. Just discard the cardboard at the end!!
Thanks! Do you have that shirt available? “Enjoy every Mowment”. Love it!!
Great idea man. Looks awesome.
Thanks! I thought it looked a ton better after! Will be interested to see the true longevity of it
Thanks for the great info. That product is no longer available on Amazon. Do you have another preferred product to recommend?
After it dries, do you mix the mulch up? So that it gets all of it?
Good tip!!
I see you are a fireman. I lived in Indiana but worked in Ohio... retired 2011 and moved south.
Yes I am! Best job in the world
I worked part time at Wayne Twp FD until I got a fulltime job in Ohio.
Awesome video. Thank you.
Do it bother plants?
Great video! Thanks
Where did you get the baby measuring cup? I have it’s big brother but would love the small one. Thank you mulch!
Clutch! Thanks man.
Yeah buddy!
Great Idea👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 just think how much $$$$$$$$$$ we can save!!!!! Thanks so much!!!!! YES! Yes!!!!!!
Hello, is there any dye for pine straw?thanks man?
THANKS FOR SHARING
Thnx 4 this Tip😊
Very super! Also, your hose nozzle could use a new washer to fix that little leaky leak 🙂
New homebuyer ...Looking to make my grass look really nice and green? Any recommendations?
Hey Bob Ross, let's paint a happy shrub over here. Lol
Nice job bud! This is something almost everyone can benefit from.
I hate mulching so this will be great to keep that color!
Will give this a try!
Yeah ya will!
So glad I found this! We are have so many beds and this will really help freshen those up without having to spend a small fortune in new mulch!
I'm headed out today to buy new mulch as mine is about 5 years old but I'll definitely have to try this stuff in the fall to restore any fading. Thanks Justin!
Have fun! Probably my least favorite outdoor activity haha
@@TheLawnWhisperer grabbed 24 bags. Since stuff is frozen again this morning it's gonna wait... maybe next weekend.
Nice 👍🏻 tip thank you 😊
Thank you!
Way cool.
Hey can you see the trunk flare on your little planted tree? Unfortunately one new required step of tree planting, is to first excavate root ball surface back to trees original birth grade. as great majority of new trees arrivr with trunks already too deep in rootball.
Old mulch inevitably decomposes and transforms into dirt. And one never wants to artificially raise soil grade surrounding base of trees.
So remember first step of applying new mulch, is first breaking out most of the old mulch.
How long did this color application last you?
I’d say it worked very well!! 👍🏼
Yeah Don!
I have carboard covering weeds ..works greatbut in the meanwhile look brown awful ... black carboard would look better ..would this paint work to color it?
What sound track is in the background? Sounds like Johnny Staats, but its driving me crazy trying to recall it!
Thanks.. Looks great.
You're welcome! Thank you!
Thanks for a great video!! We have used the dye but it’s been many many years ago!! Watching you brings back memories!!😂 The evil “black dye”! 😂 But it worked well!! Also we love the black mulch, but unfortunately it fades too fast!! Your landscaping looks great and love the black mulch!! Thanks again 👍⭐️
Will it hurt your plants if it gets on them?
Wow! Thanks
Game changer!!!!
