  • I was very happy when I learned about this product. I typically mulch in the spring, and only when my mulch has worn thin. I know a lot of people like to mulch every spring and every fall because they like to have the fresh color. This product helps with that issue!

i used rubber mulch this year, after researching it. it was the way to go, no ants and the color lasts for 12 years. i have perennials so we put shingles down first as a weed block around all the plants cause the weed blocker sucks, its impossible to pull weeds out of it. plus using the rubber, your helping by recycling tires. win win win good luck oh, the initial cost was a bit more but the labor and time savings is well worth it.

Perhaps a better idea to make sure more mulch gets dyed: After the 1st application is put down and left to dry for a few hours, take a rake and gently drag it all around the freshly dyed mulch so you can bring some of the underneath un-dyed mulch to the surface. Then apply your second coat. Perhaps repeat this process again and then you won't have to worry about wind blowing the top layer of mulch and revealing the underneath faded layer.

So with this product, what would you suggest? I usually mulch every 2 years (Red) and add 1-2 bags on the off year just to maintain good color. Removing the old mulch takes 3-4 hours and 20 or so yard waste bags. I could probably get by with replacing every 3 years and just rejuvenating on off years with this? Thoughts? Much thanks!

If you spray over leaves/debris does it hide them? I usually like the idea of throwing mulch over leaves and what not to let them decompose on their own...

  • @chetyurek9415

Tip #1. Make your mix in the mulch bed. Not on your concrete or pavers. Any spillage or oops will be on the mulch.
Tip#2. Use a nice sized piece of cardboard and use it as a barrier so as not to overspray onto ANYTHING...👍🏻 By the way, love your videos. Just subscribed!

I’m wondering if I could mix the black & brown together. I have brown mulch (they don’t sell black mulch where I live) but I like the look of darker mulch. I think I’d need too much dye to turn the whole thing black but maybe adding some black in will enrich the color a bit, make it look more like it does when it’s wet.
I can also spray the weeds if I mix one batch with weed killer.

It's recommended to wet down any concrete, rocks, etc. that you don't want stained prior to spraying. Well worth it especially when my pine straw expenses run around $280 +/- every 6 or 8 months.

    Way cool.
Hey can you see the trunk flare on your little planted tree? Unfortunately one new required step of tree planting, is to first excavate root ball surface back to trees original birth grade. as great majority of new trees arrivr with trunks already too deep in rootball.
Old mulch inevitably decomposes and transforms into dirt. And one never wants to artificially raise soil grade surrounding base of trees.
So remember first step of applying new mulch, is first breaking out most of the old mulch.
