My 2012 Sirrus hybrid is just a bike. When you're a kid you don't think about what kind of bike you have, you just ride it everywhere.

I got a Crossroads and replaced the cheap plastic pedals. Immediate power. Installed fenders, lights, basket, four panniers AND a Bob-like trailer. Also a bell, bottle cages, mirror and cupholder. Ready for the Apocalypse.

Lubing and riding my trek 7.9 fx today after (5 years no good reasons!) gave me such thrill. Was searching for experience videos on fitness/hybrid bikes. Glad you like yours. Good review. Keep on enjoying and riding safe.

I am a hybrid convert. I originally got my Giant Escape for commuting to work in NYC after I had a few expensive road bikes stolen over the years. I really fell in love with this bike. It is fast & comfy. Riding thru the crazy potholed streets of NYC actually became fun. Perfect commuting bike. But I also began to take it on tours on the weekend. With the long wheelbase & chain stay, it actually is quite a nice touring bike. I threw on a rack and panniers, changed out the 32 spoke wheels for 36 and some Schwalbe Marathon tires, and I am good to go for some epic rides this Summer. Love this thing.

Totally agree, the hybrid tours well and is comfy on the long rides. Thanks for the comments!

Hey Brock, I had to swallow my pride too, not just for the hybrid setup but also, for the fact that flat pedals are more practical too.

At the age of 69, I am shopping for a hybrid to replace my road bike. My knees and neck and shoulders and diminished skills all insist. Number 1 candidate is a Sirrus X 5.0. If I can ever find one. I still want a workout and a little exhilaration.

Decided to get back into biking after injuring my knee while out hiking in 2018 and wanted to rehab outdoors. Instead of fixing up my 1981 Fuji Royale (which I loved), I wanted to see what else was out there and that's when I first heard of hybrid bikes. I ended up picking up a 2019 Trek Verve 2. I've been loving this for probably the same reasons you mention. I can go places like dirt rail trails and then cruise on a roadway without worrying. If you're hardcore, maybe this type isn't for you but as long as you keep moving, isn't that the point? Just enjoy yourself.

I have a 2017 Sirrus Sport and its easily the best bike I've ever owned. My only complaint is that its heavier than i expected but thats only noticable when im carrying up and down the stairs. I don't ride for miles at a time so a road bike was unnecessary but this bike is extremely fast with minimal effort

O.F.F. Track I’m looking right now at the Sirrus Sport 2020 and I want to use it for commuting (7 mile to my work). Do you recommend it for that purpose? Or do you recommend a road bike?

I just bought a Sirrus X today. I have a Dogma, a Kenevo and a beach cruiser. The Sirrus fills a gap for me. I'll be riding it on paths, but further than the cruiser, and I will lock it up without worrying too much about it. My pride was fine with it.

Actually the SIrrus Elite Disc is not a hybrid in the broad definition of "hybrid bikes" since many hybrids are heavy and many have front suspension. The SIrrus Elite Disc is, as Specialized say, a flat bar *fitness bike* that is closer to a road bike. It's light. It's fast. But the Sirrus Elite frame is closer still to a cyclocross or gravel bike. Put a drop bar on it and then it's pretty much a gravel tourer bike. Curiously my Sirrus Elite has a normal 100mm stem and I put carbon fibre spacers under it. I also put Fulcrum 5 DB wheels on my Sirrus Elite and she just rolls, and rolls, and rolls...

  • @davidlindsay6450

I got the carbon fiber sirus and love it for city biking. Only downside is I cant mount a rack to it, but other than that its fantastic. You can still get good speed and performance out of it but I dont feel worried about popping onto the sidewalk or grass if I have to which is the main reason I went for it. I would deffinatley reccommend the Sirus platform, but I think it might make more sense to go with an alloy frame than carbon fiber, but that just boils down to preference.

This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Great review, Brock! You've advanced my knowledge in making a decision between the Sirrus roadbike vs the Sirrus hybrid for my wife. However, as for what I don't like, please avoid the ridiculous carnival music background in the future which seems to diminish & detract from your eloquent spoken content. Seek out something like
Aaron Copland "Fanfare For The Common Man" or John William's "Olympic Fanfare and Theme". You need some drama & "more cowbell" as Christopher Walken puts it: ruclips.net/video/cVsQLlk-T0s/видео.html. Only then will I be likely to subscribe.
