This is awesome!!! Super easy and exactly what I was looking for! And I mean exact... I needed to know how to dye the fur orange for the beard of my St Patrick's gnome!
The fur turned out fantastic!!! I loved the rustic beard look with the bit of white and other tones of color! I really didn't know just dying white fur could be so easy!!
Can I use regular paint or I don’t understand what you use for dyeing the beard. I have never heard of it or where to get it. What else can I use and suggested consistency maybe. I live in a small town . Agassiz c Canada and have followed you for a long time . You have helped me in the past and continue to do so. Thanks so very much
Oh thank you so much. I order the dye on Amazon. Any kind of fabric dye will work. In fact, I have even used kook-aid to stain a fabric chair so I’m sure it would work for fur too. I’ll add a kook aid gnome dying tutorial to my docket in the future. Thank you so much! I am so thankful you are here!
Thanks for the tutorial! I was looking for a possible way to dye faux fur/minky using *glow in the dark paint* for a glow stuffed animal, as I can't seem to find glow fur/minky on the market reasonably. Wonder how that'll turn out, haha
Hello hello! I know I'm 2 years late to the video but I got a quick question. Would water/soap make the colour fade away? I'm thinking of using this method to paint a faux fur coat. If not, what else would you recommend for me to use? Thank you in advance
For what I do, the color would fade/bleed when washed. However, I have used Rit Dye that is more permanent and color safe. Be careful to follow the instructions on Rit because it can be so permanent. I hope this helps!!! Thank you so much for watching! Let me know how it turns out!
Hey there, nice tutorial! :) I was wondering if you could give me a tip on how to handle real fur. It's already green but I want it to be darker on some parts. Do you think I could simply use some dark green color, mix it up with water and use a brush and paint the fur on several parts?
Absolutely. In fact, I think make st. Patrick’s Day Gnomes would look fantastic with both braids and beards. Great question. I would do the braids very skinny in that case. Thank you for your question.
That's awesome! My husband grew up for a time in Omaha. He was also a Westside Warrior, but moved halfway through his Sophomore year. He was class of '86.
Just a little tip! You can use a razor or x-acto to cut just the backing and cut less fur from the edges, the edges will be more lush and dense.
Great tip! Thank you so much! ❤️
I love the rustic look of the fur for a beard! So cool!
Thank you so much

@@DIYIsMyHappyPlace Is it dye or acrylic paint? You stated in the video it's paint, but in a reply you said it was dye you ordered on Amazon.
I looked it up. It’s not a paint. It’s a stain or dye. Acrylic paint won’t work.

Can you dye faux fur jacket like this? Or should I use rit dyes ???
For a jacket I would use Rit dye. It is more permanent.

Can you put it in the dryer? On low heat?
I wouldn’t. I’m afraid the entire dryer works become orange.
What kinds of dye do you use
The dye I used is called Unicorn Spit Stain. There is a link in my description.

I have never used real fur but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. Good luck!
*me a furry using this to dye fur* ah yes, gnome time.
Glad you liked it, Shy Beach!
Can we put glitter with the paint?
Oh yes. In fact, Unicorn Spit has some colors with glitter already in it. Everything looks better with glitter!
Is this a cotton faux fur?
Hi Natasha! The fur that I use is from Walmart. It's polyester. 😀
So we don’t need anything to make it permanent if I am using to dye my fur blanket .
When I’m making the gnomes they don’t get washed so there is no worry about the dye washing out.
Can you please repeat how much water to use?
I used a cup of water.
Always love your tips and this is agreat one so thank you 😊 can i ask a question please? Can a gnome have both braids and a beard together?
Absolutely. In fact, I think make st. Patrick’s Day Gnomes would look fantastic with both braids and beards. Great question. I would do the braids very skinny in that case. Thank you for your question.

Yes! I love it!
Will the colors bleed onto other fabrics when washed?
Oh I think they could if it’s not set with vinegar and salt. Good point.
