Nic Slight+Thorne was a dangerous combo. But Rowan+Thorne is gonna be scary because he kinda fills the hole that mchenry left. Although if you ask me mchenry was the best middle in NCAA by farrrrr.
Thorne and Mchenry if you dive into the number had very comparable seasons last year. Around 200 kills, both hitting .500+ on very pin driven teams. I think Thorne steps in to that role as the M1 for the Bruins and achieves similar numbers this year in his second season.
I'm not that hopeful. GCU's problem last year was their blocking. Their middle attacks though is their strength. UCLA though is reverse, they relied on their middles for the block.
@@txidez-7861 the blocking will be an issue because of the height. Remember what Rowan did with mchenry against thorne? High sets in the middle so thorne will need more effort to block him.
Kohl is my high school coaches son. He was a toddler when I was a freshman. It makes me happy seeing him get this recognition bcoz I know how hard he worked since a very young age.
This content is great. Such a need for this! Besides 3-peat video, what about a 2024-25 recruiting class video? I want to learn about Sterling Foley, Sean Kelly etc. And, of course, The Goat 🐐
Awesome comment! I love the recruiting video idea. Will definitely take some research before I could put something together for that, aside from the obvious ones. But I think it could be fun to look back on after the season.
Don't know if he would at BYU. BYU have their same starting outside core. He's definitely not starting over Luke Benson, maybe over ramanis but ramanis is huge compared to thiim, ramanis also has a really strong serve even if you make the argument of serve receive.
I think another notable mention would be Jackson Reed from USC to Loyola Chicago. Was a great Outside Hitter, although behind the main guys, who can also play at libero.
Thelle was def best setter in 2023, I think Rowan was the best setter this past year but not the past 2 years. As a freshman he did outstanding but was not better than Thelle in 2023
I think there’s an argument for Thelle being the best in 2023. Rowan did beat Thelle in that thrilling finals match so something has to be said about that. I think if Partain didn’t start for the beginning of that year Rowan would’ve been more on the scene his freshman year but definitely have to respect Thelle.
Great comment. I think Telle was better than Rowan in 2023. To say otherwise would imply that Rowan would have won POTY if he had played the full season, and I don’t see that happening. Rowan did seem to outplay Telle in the 2023 finals, but he had more help.
Thanks for the feedback, the software I use to generate them doesn't always get them right. I try to edit some of them, but I don't have the time to go line by line and edit all of them which leads to a few mistakes here and there. Looking for a better solution but this is the best I can do for now.
Speaking of d1 transfers, keep an eye out for Keaton Long. Was usa u21 nt coming into college at Lewis, took a break for a bit but is looking to make a return.
ESPN+ most likely, they have the most collegiate and volleyball stuff you can find. If not them, then look on the teams schedule if they are live streaming it elsewhere.
Good feedback, I haven’t seen any of their preseason stuff. Just given his all American awards I would imagine he’s the favorite, but OSU will likely put the best guy in there even if it’s Rodriguez.
I think Hawaii will be pretty good, I just think Thiim wanted a fresh start on a new team to get some playing time. I’m not sure if he would’ve started again this year for UH.
@@mitchsterkenburg why do you think Hawaii will be good this year? I know they just picked up Kainoa Wade (top draft in his class), and the rest of the team is still good, except for a missing outside hitter.
No way was Thiim gonna get much playing time this year. The writing in on the wall. Hawaii brought it Adrien Roure from France, the kid is good. He might start the season as a true freshman, he's got height and he can pass.

He's well deserved for the recognition indeed! You get called up to OSU for a reason and I think he'll get his shot this year.

I think he should on BYU

He was on my short list for sure. I saw him play a bit last year sporadically, I hope he gets his shot with Loyola to make a difference out there.

Unfamiliar with him, but good to know. I'll keep my eye on him this season as he makes his return.
@@mitchsterkenburg Not gonna be returning to Lewis but should be announcing where he'll be headed sooner rather than later
Bryce Dvorak to UCSD is a way more impactful transfer than either of the two setter transfers you mentioned
He wasn't on my radar but good to know.
looking to get into ncaa d1 volleyball. when does the season start?
We're about one month out. Middle of January.
do you know where is going to be the place to watch D1 mens vball this season? last year was a struggle to find full games of non California teams
espn+

yes indeed.
Hiiiighly recommend Moomoocowjohnny’s edited videos. He cuts out time between points, so you can watch a 2 hr match in 15-20 mins.
mckendree will be on glvc network for free when they play at home. I believe lewis may be as well

big season on the way
idk if kutch is going to start. watched some pre season clips of ohio state and Freshman rodriguez looks elite tbh, they were playing him over kutch

yeah exactly, where can we watch it?
You and me the same, hopefully we’re not far off from that.
ESPN+ for the big games, and the teams website schedule has live streams for smaller games.
@@mitchsterkenburg thank you!

Yes

they really should be with Genis, Klein, and Smith
USC always gets good players, but for some weird reason they always fall short.
Give them a better setter and they’d be top 5
Nikolov transferred from romania 😂😂
Different kind of transfer.
He’s not a transfer but the biggest news of this year: NIKOLOV 👀👀👀
If these transfers will shake up this season, Nikolov with cause and effect earthquake for this year with his impact.
Hawaii must be projected to suck this year if someone like Thiim would transfer out of it when he was a regular.
