Not that youre asking me to do this but yes, i cleaned 2 ps4 controllers years ago, i didnt realize how much gunk these things can hide, i had to open them with a screw driver and cleaned the shit out of them... While they were open i realized i could just rip the vibrators out with no consequences so i did lol i dont like when controllers vibrate and they weigh A LOT less without them, they feel so much better
I hate taking them apart. I've gone through 3 of them because of stick drift so that the reason I ultimately ended up opening them up to clean but I could never permanently fix the stick drift. Fast forward to now in 2024, already got stick drift again on my PS5 controller. No dirt in the controller either, so I don't understand why the left stick ended up drifting when there was no dirt there. Well after cleaning it, the drift came back so I bit the bullet and bought a Dualsense Edge in hopes I don't have to open the whole thing just clean the sticks when they can be easily swapped.
