Sir, over here not only polling staff, many more poor Indians died even on roads due to extreme heat. Polling staff are mostly teachers, so nobody cares. These teachers also usually die due to road accidents while arriving at their workplace, (becoz they travel on highways to arrive at village schools). They get no compensation. No one cares because they are teachers. Teachers & labourers are very much disrespected in Indian society. This is shameful but unfortunately it is a fact. Once when Nitish Kumar was Bihar's CM, during an election campaign or rally in Bihar, he asked the audience, "should Bihar teachers get good salary?", the whole audience replied "No, No"... Politicians can get the best salary, but teachers can't. Obviously it is the masses who aare responsible for their own downfall. In fact nowadays, they have raised teachers' salary to only about Rs. 45000 to Rs. 50000 per month. People are ecstatic, even when paid such a meagre amount during such hyperinflation.
