As an 80 year old wanna be artist , I THINK THIS IS SO LOVELY, you captured the age and character in this drawing perfect. However it would be nice if you added audio thoughts, so a novice like myself could follow. Of course not as great as you but at my age a close second would be great thanks.
Lots of folks probably like this, but as an artist who specializes in charcoal drawings, I don't. The charcoal medium has the potential for great artistic expression, not just awkward illustration.
@@cozicoops As we have all seen a thousand times on youtube, everyone demands only glowing praise and there is little desire to hear more educated and knowledgeable opinions. Which all proves, once again, that youtube videos are mostly a form of "vanity press". You see what happens? If you offer an intelligent critical comment, then certain people lash out and immediately demand proof of identity and links to our art so that the upset person can invent retaliatory criticisms. Well, I should remind you, I am not the one self-promoting here on youtube by presenting mediocre examples intending to "teach" how to draw or paint well. You won't be satisfied no matter how I respond, but I will simply say that I have much higher artistic standards than are typically presented in these youtube videos. One has to view hundreds of them to perhaps find something worthwhile.
@@KpxUrz5745 I don’t see you original comment as intelligent .. it came across as spiteful and not constructive criticism . I asked to see your work not to revenge criticise but to see the standard you are referring to. I’d like to see some examples. I find it insulting to call this artist as mediocre.. far from that I feel. But each to their own. Your comment was unnecessarily aggressive and that of a typical keyboard warrior .
Is there a model or a reference photo that you are working from? What is the purpose of this video? It can’t be to instruct. Just a demonstration of what you can do? Certainly, just watching this is not enough to lead a person to be able to DO it.
@@TheRickurb I'm not frustrated. I don't understand the purpose of the video. Perhaps you can enlighten me. Nor do I need to go practice. I have 16 years of experience and half dozen exhibits of my work worth of 'practice'.
From the look of the technique, my thought was the same as yours. Maybe a Lucida was in use? I usually block my portraits with pencil before moving to charcoal.
there's nothing like charcoal. beautiful work man.
