Really nice bull Hannah. I remember very well my first bull and the work it took to get him. 8 days of hiking in deep snow and steep mountains. It was a back pack hunt so everything came in and came out on our backs. It was a 6 by but not as nice as yours and he was good on the plate.

I am glad to you all panting so heavily, makes me feel much better, but I would be breathing even heavier. Hannah, with carrying a nice rack like that the only thing you have to worry about is becoming someone else's trophy. What a great Elk you got. Here in Colorado, they are few and far between. Yea sometimes its easier but the terrain is so steep that they stick in the ground and it can cause you to fall off the hill. So actually in this terrain its easier with the horns up :)
@@kristyleecook15 By the way when packing the horns pointing down tie a stick to each side of the horns that the stick rest on your bottom pack so the horns can't drop below you on step climbs
Hannah is like a stalking tigerish she goes into silent mode when she’s stalking her prey then her curiosity overcomes her feelings often and she vents by shooting first then commenting on her reasoning there’s some really nice size trophies (elks)on them hillside

Packing a large animals head with horns is allot easier with the horns tied downward on the pack to disperse the weight below you.
