    Hey. This is great info. Thank you. I have a problem with mine that you almost got to but not quite. My water heater heats up with either/both gas and electric and gets plenty hot, but then it fully shuts off and stops heating altogether, and it gives me an error on my computer panel that just says, "check water heater." I assume this is a thermostat problem, but I'm not sure where to go with it, and unfortunately I'm living in an area with no RV repair people. Can you provide any insight or direction?

      Can you get the model number off of the unit itself? From there I'll see what help we can be. -Todd

    I have the Dometic WH-6GEA hot water tank in my rv. The AC cord is just hanging loose. I would like to use electric when I have full hookups, but I'm not sure how to connect the AC.
    Can you offer any advice please?
    PS it works fine on propane.

    Hello, I have a question "I installed one of this in my camper" is it necessary to connect gas or just the electricity cable?

    • @GreatAmericanRV
      @GreatAmericanRV  5 месяцев назад

      You can do just electric if you wish. Just make sure there is no open gas lines on your unit. You would want to cap anything existing. - Todd

      @@stevenyara183 sure can, can you have the model number for your water heater? It’s going to be on the tag inside the door. I would need that to make sure it’s the right board for your unit. -Todd

    Ours runs on gas for a few minutes then slowly dies and flames out. Like it's running out of oxygen. It runs fine if we leave the door open?
    No issues electric mode.

      When it is running, is it strong? Does it resemble a jet burner blowing through the exhaust tube? -Todd

    • @Rod-db8tt
      @Rod-db8tt 3 месяца назад

      @@GreatAmericanRVdoesn't seem strong with intermittent sputtering with door closed. With door open it runs really strong but flame is more yellow than blue.

    • @GreatAmericanRV
      @GreatAmericanRV  3 месяца назад

      @@Rod-db8tt Ok, I would start with the mixture tube that comes right after the gas valve and flows into the combustion chamber. Make sure your system is off first, then run a pipe cleaner or small brush, anything you can fit in that tube and run it around in that 90 degree tube. You would be surprised that even the smallest spider web can cause issues. While you are at it do the same thing to the combustion tube. This one is a little more difficult but try to run something through there and clean it as best you can. One of these two things should take care of it. If not it could be a faulty gas valve (unlikely) or you could have pressure issues coming from your regulator. Hope this does the trick, let me know!! -Todd

      @@GreatAmericanRVThanks for reply. Ya pretty much done all that. Had gas tube out all clean. Ran my little borescope through exhaust tube and all clear. I eventually bought a new door and did the 3" hole mod with stainless steel vent and screening which did fix it, however it still flamed out once since mod which was highly disappointing. One post on a forum made sense to me that propane exhaust byproduct is heavier than air and snuffing out flame. I just recently researched this issue again to see if any updates from Dometic as I think it is a design flaw.

    Can i use Vinegar soak to clean the scale from a Aluminum Tank?

    • @GreatAmericanRV
      @GreatAmericanRV  5 месяцев назад +1

      I would suggest staying away from vinegar. The acid could harm the aluminum causing corrosion. Best practice is to just run water through the system with the plug out and purchase a flush rod to stick in the hole to break up any scale. Dometic recommends water only, no chemicals and to perform on a regular basis to avoid buildup. - Todd

    Do those have a sacrificial rod in them?

    • @GreatAmericanRV
      @GreatAmericanRV  Год назад +1

      They do not. Dometic and Atwood build there tanks out aluminum. Therefore they are not necessary according to Dometic.
