#109 fixing my lathe centers centerline dimension so that i can make good parts harley tatro machine - Авто/Мото
I think you're right about letting it stand overnight
Can all 4 corners (the whole unit) be lowered so all four have weight? Then basically starting over.
nope, the lathe and floor have issues. that is why i have the adjusters.

✌
Probably best to just reset it all the way down and then start over
I wonder if its still on O where you adjusted it to with shims .............
It definitely will help to leave it set overnight, then tomorrow you can see where it's at and adjust legs to as close as possible..
yres, that is what i am doing. 2 days now with a lever weight on it too.

I believe it’s the flooring, ( tiles).
you would be wrong. the adjusting bolts make up the difference in the uneven floor.

@@TatroMachine Ideally the lathe would be set directly on concrete with steel pad inserts. Ideal isn't always available however.
We do our best with what we have.
This might be a dumb question, but could you just lower the whole thing down and start from zero???
i did, but the lathe didn't like that. its twisted. i see shimming in the future.
tatro
Keenan could you raise the back left leg a little to gring the front right side down?
what would i grind? i have adjusting bolts on the legs.

After closer thought , I suspect the deck/cradle rails that the end center and cutter ride on , including the center and cutter are worn , and worn down into the rails , and probably the most wear on the operator side rail , it has no choice but be worn after all the years of use and pressure from cutting , dirt , grit and cuttings . Im guessing the only places you will get any kind of a correct reading on the rails , is on the rails under the head where its not worn or very little and at the very end against the tail . You were probably correct when you said , you see shimming in the future . To take the deck out and machine it would be a big job , not to mention installing a wear plate on the rails to put it back up to 0 again , and not to mention figuring out exactly where 0 would be . You probably already know all that ..........
this lathe is like a nice low miles monday bike. it looks good, but it is not all that good.

@@TatroMachine A while back , I replaced all the fuel lines quantum line kit and fuel pump fpf in my 08 , appx. 4000 miles ago , About 2 weeks ago I had to trailor the bike home . After checking several things and getting the bike running it would pump up to normal 60 psi , then steady leak off to 0 psi , at first I suspected a line , regulator or quick connect end , when I finally replaced the pump and regulator , with the original , it would hold pressure , some times prevention from setting beside the road does not work out very well .
