I remember just staring at them trying discern the different types lol.
So, chaurus is basically a pokémon. I can imagine a falmer as a pokémon trainer : "Chaurus! Use slime attack!" **Chaurus is evolving into chaurus hunter**

@@GodsWorstMistake That goddamn cave before you reach the Forgotten Vale… and the one in the Vale itself… and in Castle Volkihar… and in Dimhollow Crypt- you know what, just like, forty percent of Dawnguard is terrifying to me thanks to them.
Idk if anyone caught this, but the Udyrfrykte and by extension the matron variant, is a reference to the tale of Beowulf and his battle with Grendle and his mother. Monsterous beings that feed on the flesh of man. The quest in Morrowind is especially a reference, as Grendle attacks the mead hall the group of men are celebrating at.
The Uderfryke is a reference to Grendel of the saga of Beowulf. In which a Norse Hall was being attacked by a giant troll, who would steal in at night to butcher the sleeping revelers. The story roughly has Beowulf rip the beasts arm off when he arrives and stays awake to catch the monster. Only later for even more men to die, when Grendel's mother decides to get revenge. Beowulf travels into the marshes to find their lair, and slays both. The first Uderfryke in ES3 references the first part, with Grendel attacking the mead hall. And the second one (the matron or "mother") getting revenge on some Nords in ES4 represents Grendel's mother. As for the one in Skyrim. I guess they didn't want to leave this Nordic monster out of a Nordic game, and so is probably just a nudge-nudge wink-wink towards the origin of the tale, rather than directly referencing the story itself.
I'm sure it's been mentioned but in Norwegian Udyr means beast or monster, and Frykt means fear. So the Udyrfrykte would translate to fearbeast roughtly. Which by the looks of this thing is very fitting.
lmao i saw a serpentine dragon in my most recent lore-friendly playthrough and i had to go check that i had disabled my LOTR mods, it really does look like a fellbeast
by the way, the reason for some chaurus to have wings is the when a chaurus dies, they enter a special pupa they create and become the chaurus hunter. the more you know
Yeah, they either become a flying nightmare OR a bigger, faster and stronger nightmare (Charus Reaper). I mean, Reapers aren't THAT strong but, just like spiders, they make it up with intimidation.
I always thought the Ideal Masters used those giant soul gems as a medium to observe the Soul Cairn, or that the Vale deer and sabre cat have a unique fur and such due to their diet conisting of unique bioluminescent plant matter. I'm sure they know, but they aren't talking.

Nate, I want you to know that I love all your videos and they put me in a good mood when I’m not. I always look forward to watching them and learning something new, thank bro!
“Back when the snow elves were........ well not extinct” I don’t know why I laughed at this😂 the way you said it and how true it is is funny

it’s worth noting that Tolkein never actually described the beasts ridden by the Nazgûl with anything more than just being “fell,” so the creatures in the movies were really the creation of artists later on (Jackson used a lot of inspiration from, and worked directly with a lot of artists who were famous for their interpretations of LotR) and not necessarily what Tolkein himself thought they looked like

If you look closely at the patch-skin tents you see in various camps in Skyrim, you’ll see what looks like the pelts of the Vale Deer or maybe it’s Saber counterpart among the various furs (standing outside the tent looking at them). I don't know if this has been written yet, but if one looks at some of the Falmer huts, especially once you delve deeper underground, you can see the Chaurus Hunters' bodies decorating the entryway of the hut. Some of them are actually pretty huge, too.

I fought a frost serpentine Dragon when I was level 30 and was still on mainland skyrim
2:43, I knew you were probably gonna comment on its resemblance to fell beasts, they look the same!
Am I the only one that thinks serpentine dragons are really cute
Actually, when I first saw one, I thought it was rather dorky looking.
They are adorable, when i first saw miraaks dragon i decided to nickname him Fishy.
uhhh ..........yeah maybe........jk
Nop thats the first thing i thought when i first saw them
The Uderfryke is a reference to Grendel of the saga of Beowulf.
I keep hearing epicnate’s voice when I read “The more you know” lol
Nate: “What’s a larvae?”
I always thought the Ideal Masters used those giant soul gems as a medium to observe the Soul Cairn, or that the Vale deer and sabre cat have a unique fur and such due to their diet conisting of unique bioluminescent plant matter. I'm sure they know, but they aren't talking.
May I just say that I desperately love how Nate pronounces the word "Uderfrykte"? x))
Fan theory: the vale deer became bioluminescent after eating mushrooms underground.

ruclips.net/video/2r5ajxiRrxY/видео.html
@@starfthegreat The downside is that you have to start a new game to use it, so it could take Nate a bit to try it out and see what it's like. Besides, who knows how many mods may need updated patches to work with it (other than what's on the Official LoD Patch page).
By the time I got round to hunting Cicero, I could one shot the troll, I didn't even notice it was different. Oh well.
My thoughts on the deer stem from the theory that skyrim and fallout are in the same universe. The reason they look different is because they've been so isolated that the radstag genes are more pronounced.
I'd think that the Vale animals are a symptom of Divergent Evolution if anything.
