She’s always desperate for people’s approval and Richard is supposed to reassure her that she’ll get it. That’s a lot of emotional labor for poor Richard.
jessie...well, she was probably trying to copy her, since at the time of the series the former "Queen Consort" (as the title probably was) was still alive. Ms. Routledge probably didn't want to copy the queen (it might have been thought impertinent).
This episode was the best! Daisy and Onslow won an all paid cruise on the QE2. I hope I wrote that right!! They got to do everything Hyacinth always thought she was entitled to do.... lol great surprise ending. Won’t spoil it for others.
Yea but before that, Hyacinth and Richard had a heck of a time trying to get to the QE2. I believe this was a 1 hour special!! Brilliant really!!! I love British comedy!!!
Pretty Young Thing. That’s right! I forgot about that! Hyacinth got out straight by the dentist in line after Hyacinth thought he was the porter! I know Richard enjoyed that. I think it all started when Hyacinth didn’t want to wait in traffic and made Richard take a short cut!! Lol
The real icing on the cake was in the end, when Hyacinth was dancing with Onslow, and Onslow mentioned how he thought it was weird and exhausting that he had to eat with the crew and basically live the highlife Hyacinth always wanted.
One of my favorite TV shows, I still watch from time to time on RUclips, she's superb and here in California I had an Ant that was exactly like Hyacinth, it was hilarious, she was always so concerned with what people would think and her Last Name, this was my Aunt. Love this show!
I remember watching that episode and thinking: "why is Onslow suddenly so interested in seeing the lifeboats?" only to realise it was a clever set-up for that moment. Patricia Routledge's portrayal of Hyacinth's reaction was the funniest moment in the episode. 😂😂😂
Unelutre...as a woman, we don't take notice of what our significant says about our attire, but (and this is very important) if our husbands (especially if a long friendship - cause marriage doesn't necessarily mean friendship) who have no clue about fashion say it doesn't look right (an outfit) then "ladies pay attention"! Accessories don't count...just the outfit.
David...oh my goodness - these were ugly and still are - eomen don't need to wear flowered anything (I was in my 20-30s in the 90s and remember the flower motifs on everything) to look feminine.
My late grandmothers would dress like Hyacinth. Only somewhat subdued. They were born in 1898 and 1910, so had worn the floral patterned dresses, blouses and skirts of the 1930's. Then those of the 1950's and the 1970's. 🌸🌼🏵🌸🌼🏵🌼🌸
The ultimate classic comedy she’s a master at comedy and drama Tv can only wish they had this talent and comedy in 2022 I’m so lucky and glad I grew up with wonderful comedy like this ❤️
strat...of course she changed, the previous outfit is history - on to new ones. Richard had one suitcase, while ahe had the rest - I saw the series on Netflix, in full...I remember this episode when they missed the original embarcation and had to drive to the next port but waited outside and realized they waited at the wrong dock! That was hilarious!
He probably had an overbearing/narcissistic mother and he picked a wife who was the same way. It's very common for people to repeat the dynamic of their family of origin. Also, Hyacinth is pretty good looking and must have been very pretty when she was young.
Poor Richard...expected to give appropriate fashion advice or ELSE! My husband, yrs ago, tried to go with horizontal striped shorts while wearing the opposite striped shirt! He (men, in general) doesn't know fashion, so when he/they say it looks bad, pay attention! If the guy tells you how to dress...run like hell, cause he's a controlling freak! Happy watching!!!
Hyacinth Bucket an incredibly funny total waste of space. An absolutely perfect last episode would have been Hyacinth's funeral with all her many, many, victims celebrating her death and at the end we get the hint that Richard finally had had enough and had done her in!!
Kimberly...you know how "opposits attract"? She probably told him he was in love with her - in an interview, she explained: "men like to be taken care of (at home)" as in arranging the tie/hanky in the pocket, probably brushong his suit to make sure no lint is visible etc...maybe she's right aboutbher generation... she never married so she probably remembers her father amd mother.
This woman makes me bawl with laughter EVERY TIME...😭🤣🤣
me tooooooo
My heart always went out to Richard,
thats how good an actor he was to convey that impresssion for all of us
I love how Hyacinth, despite being controlling and domineering, is always desperate for Richard’s approval
She’s always desperate for people’s approval and Richard is supposed to reassure her that she’ll get it. That’s a lot of emotional labor for poor Richard.
Hyacinth has a very colorful wardrobe selection. Always looking her very best!
Hyacinth dresses like the Queen Mother. Nothing wrong with that though; she always looks nice.
Love dame Patricia Routledge 💕..she's just brilliant!
I like when the town's people see her and say, "Dear God, it's that bucket woman!"
...again! And I'm not going there if she does 😁
Rest in Peace Richard. 😔
Rip clive swift aka Richard bucket! Pronounced bouquet if you mind!
Rest in peace indeed
He was her perfect counterpart; who didn’t love Richard?!!❤️
Her son Sheridan and his 'friend' Tarquin!!! Every time she says their names, I bust into laughter!!! She is something else!
even Queen Elizabeth liked her work lol
So glad sheridan was not chasing after girls
@@andrewrr3666 no time for the ladies, strictly a tuckus Tarzan our Sheridan
Lol missed opportunity for them to be on the show...

She’s such a diva 👩🎤
The best diva! 😅😅😅
Omg this is so weird this is my fav show and I just came across your comment
SHE LOOKS like the QUEEN mother...the way she was dressed
I honestly believe that being Queen was her lifelong ambition!
She was trying to be aristocratic if not royal 😁
jessie...well, she was probably trying to copy her, since at the time of the series the former "Queen Consort" (as the title probably was) was still alive. Ms. Routledge probably didn't want to copy the queen (it might have been thought impertinent).
She once bought a sofa which was an exact replica of one they had in Sandringham.
Yes she’s does, she’s apart of royalty now

You're going to have to, as it seems unlikely that I'll ever see that episode here in my neck of the woods.

Patricia Routledge and Clive Swift were so perfect in their roles.
Love when Richard gets his digs in now and again😂
"It's Onslow and Daisy... What about them? They HERE!" This is one of my favorite moments!
Poor Richard...

She acts as if she is completely in charge and yet she's really funny. Great humor thank you

Britain has TWO queens....Elizabeth II and Hyacinth!
I love how she puts matching hats and where’s the gloves

The flower dress is something my mom would wear. My dad likes to see her in flowered dresses.
