Awesome 👍 demonstration. You are the only person who explains and shows you what the 2 locking mechanism do when you turn the 5 mm screw and push the spring metal tabs. I was able to fix my niece car thanks to you.
This is the best and most descriptive video for the left headlight I’ve found, showing the mechanics of how the clips work to release it really helps me massively I thought all the battery box and everything had to be removed, I was dreading the job Now I’m looking forward to it (a tiny bit 😂) Yellow bug owner here too 💛💛
Thanks. My driver's side went out and I couldn't find the clips behind the battery in the parking lot. The passenger one helped but this video of the driver is much better for my situation thanks
Just a side note to your great video. If you use a large suction cup or new toilet plunger on the headlight it is much easier to pull the headlight out. Try it out. Works great for me every time. Peace-Out
Of course, test the headlights after reinstalling the headlight. If nothing turns on, the white part of the electrical connection might not be seated all the way or at all. You can look in to see it seating when pushing the canister in to make sure it's lined up and fully seated.
Thanks for the info we had done the right side a year or two ago and after looking at your video I think the left side is easier we were done in less than 10 minutes
Thanks for this great video - just had to replace both headlamp bulbs. Would have been lost without this video. Haynes and the owners manual were as much use as a chocolate fireguard....
I am having the exact same problem, if you push on the light housing from the front the light will go on but it will not stay on, it is like the light is not plugged in completely
Hey thanks, getting down in there is rather tricky, but knowing where to look helps. I ended up using the end of a wooden coathanger to push down the second lock, any stick that would reach and fit would do. For anyone else trying this, a 5mm socket on the end of an extension/ratchet would do if you don't mind potentially losing your socket (almost happened to me!)--I think the long nutdriver would be a better solution, one that just wasn't available to me locally at the time. Anyway, once you unlock the headlight ass'y, smooth sailing. Thanks again!
Please, please! Explain the final part particular the function on- off- up-down of the security what do not allow to get out the headlight, and if it could be in spanish will be better thank you
I need help with my 09 beetle convertible passage side headlight top part which is round shape. How can I change it? I don’t know what is the name either 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
HELP! I have tried everything under the sun to remove the LF Drivers die headlight, nothing is working, currently 4 hours deep, im not really sure at this point how I am going to be able to get it removed.

Twist the shiney thing. Make the metal piece pop over.
Your technical talk is over the top!

Man you don't know how much this helps. May good karma come back around to you!!!
thanks, i need some of that good karma, been bad luck for a few years lol
@@subtledriver I'm sure it will change 🤞
You're awesome! It took a lot of searching to find the driver's side headlight. Thanks!
I followed this video for a 2009 bug and it was extremely helpful. The coat hanger worked like a charm, thanks for the suggestion. 👍
It is really difficult to see the interior catch releases, but this video does a good job of showing how they work. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you Sir! Finally someone shows the more difficult side. Helped me tons!
Thank you for showing this old lady how to change it on the battery side!

Good point ... never thought of using a vacuum cup as a pulling device but it makes great sense.
Genius! I was ready to use a "used" toilet plunger, lol. But I found a sink plunger, which was the perfect size and really helped.
hey now! we are everywhere!
"Love u long time forever RUclips"! Thank you so much buddy! I do also think that the 2nd best thing invented after the internet is YT!

brookielovesyou would this effect both headlights? Literally just did this today, and both wont turn back on. PLEASE HELP!

Great video. Thank you, it helped a lot with my daughter’s 2007 Beetle.
You have done a perfect job here
Thanks for the info we had done the right side a year or two ago and after looking at your video I think the left side is easier we were done in less than 10 minutes
Thanks fir that. How easy to adjust beam though? My drivers side is miles out.
If you ever find out please let me know
What would the time allowed be for replacing both headlamps would you guess
Perfect instructions. Thank you!
Thank you! I’ve been looking for someone to show me how to do that side! It was so confusing. Wish they would just left it with the push lever
Thanks for this great video - just had to replace both headlamp bulbs. Would have been lost without this video. Haynes and the owners manual were as much use as a chocolate fireguard....
exactly why i made this video, to help you and myself in the future. lol
Thanks bro. I was about to throw some shit.
🤣😂
Great video. When I put the light back in it does stay in place tight. After driving around it loosens up and unplugs. Any suggestion?

@@troystaten5633 I ended up holding the connector with one hand and pushing the headlight with the other. It’s held up since.
Good Explanation.
Thank You.

Thank you for the comment! You are welcome!

excellent video makes me easy to change my head light
On the bulb connector is there a positive and a negative or is it matter which way that connector fits back on it?
Thank you! All the others only show RH only!
Please, please! Explain the final part particular the function on- off- up-down of the security what do not allow to get out the headlight, and if it could be in spanish will be better thank you
Thanks so much for the help
What bulb size are they
Thank you .... very helpful video ... much appreciated

You are the best.
This helps so much! Great video.
Well explained but this video should be remade as it is too shaky and often out of fucus.
Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding video!!! Thank you!!
Great video. Thanks
thanks for the comment!
Thank you!!! I appreciate this video so much. As a woman, I changed my daughters headlight for her because of this instruction. Xx
Very helpful video - thank you
this was a 2008 VW Beetle but mine is a 2003 , are the steps the same ?
Should be the same yes.
Actually 003 Beetle only has the lever to push down @@subtledriver
@@DrBroncanuus thanks for clarification. I haven't seen a 1st gen in a while at the shop.
NO. there is no metal clip. it has a plastic semi-circular ring that retains the headlight assembly. and the plastic ring is easy to break off.
Thanks for the vid!!!! great info!!
Thanks!!
HELP! I have tried everything under the sun to remove the LF Drivers die headlight, nothing is working, currently 4 hours deep, im not really sure at this point how I am going to be able to get it removed.
I had to stick a flathead from the front of the car and pop it out from there
Yea I'll be taking it to someone. I'll get way too mad and smash something
Nice video though, thank you!
Thanks
