How to beat Bed of Chaos + Centipede Demon
@3:20 for Bed of Chaos
I included Centipede Demon in this video, for it's the one boss that doesn't seem to work too well with a halberd (see; me dodging back and forth for 8 lightyears trying to aim high enough) ideally, you'd want a weapon with a vertical attack. Or just ranged/magic.
Bed of Chaos is a horribly designed boss, so I have no qualms with the quit and reload "trick" / "glitch" because it's not worth the frustration.
Also included the hidden bonfire, because why the hell not!

the secret strategy to killing the centipede demon is to notice that it only has one attack. once you have noticed that, you can then proceed to scream and turn off the game
Centipede demon gg 2 ez tho,bed of chaos pisses me off all the time, always cheese that bitch with firebombs
I actually found a way to sit in corner and let it jump attack out of the map and insta kill itself
When im not trying to jump on the ledge, the Bed of Chaos's swing has an animation to it. But as soon, asni go to jump off the edge, the swing is instant, no animation, not warning, just instant. And it doesn't even hurt me, but pushes me off so i miss the platform and die by falling
You just have to wait for it to come to the non-lava parts, it’s defenses are extremely frail and if you choose to summon Solaire for the fight then it becomes even easier to beat than the asylum demon lol I will never understand why people think Demon Centipede is a difficult boss lol
"Hitboxes? What are those?" - Dark Souls
Dark Souls 2 fits more in that.
AmadisLFE and yet DS2 combat/fights are way more fair than most fights in the first game ;)
Willy et scientia if by fair you mean easy
Burning Sexuality if not being artificially hard translates to easy, so be it xD
Miyazaki really needs to take lessons on how to implement decent, non-cheap difficult to his games..
@@wallacesousuke1433 DS 2 is the one game in the series full of cheap difficulty. Smelter demons broken hit boxes, Gank squads everywhere, Super creative bosses like the dragon rider , 2 dragon riders, Aava, 2 Aavas , Jabba the huts brother, Prowling magus, A room full of rats, Smelter Demon, Blue smelter demon. Most bosses in the Game are either Piss easy or only hard because hit boxes fuck you over. The only bosses i consider good are Fume Knight and Alone, and i had to wait for DLC's to get them. It is wastly inferior to every other Souls game.
I hate looking up bosses once I get stuck on them with 10+ tries because every video shows the boss having some simple pattern and then on my game hes doing random shit. Sometimes I feel like I have a different copy of the game lol
civoreb same lol. i remember i watched a walkthrough on the drake on the bridge and in the video they said he would do this and that. when i tried all he did was spam fire
civoreb I know the feeling rng is a bitch
No kidding. I couldnt believe what the Drake was doing on other peoples playthroughs. Cause mine just had Fire. Fire and More fire.
It says "simply fall on this ledge"
I either got slapped off whilst falling, or I get blown Into a million pieces by her fire column attack
I just beat this boss for the first time, and I have to say this is hands-down the least fun I've had so far with Dark Souls. The Gargoyles are pretty unfair, but I remember how satisfied I was when I beat them. Ornstein and Smough were frustrating, but every time I died I felt like I was getting closer to beating them. But this... I felt nothing but boredom. Just getting swiped into a bottomless pit over and over again (because even when I timed a dodge roll perfectly I still got pushed), and whenever I got closer than I had previously the ground would crumble in front of me. If I didn't react immediately, I fell to my death. If I stopped in time, I got whacked by the giant arm and fell to my death. I looked up this guide to show how me how the hell to get to the heart, because how was I supposed to know that I was meant to jump into one of the pits? And even after I mastered the timing of avoiding the swipes with the invincibility frames of the roll, I still missed that little branch in the pit and fell to my death at least another five times. The souls I lost were a pittance compared to the hour I wasted running across the lava to try again. How could the makers of such a brilliant game churn out such an unequivocally joyless experience?
Most of the Souls games have had their "Bed of Chaos" moments - sometimes people just design something which sounds cool but doesn't work at all. I don't know how extensively they test these games, but sometimes I think they don't test them all that well.
gaping dragon is boring as fuck and sometimes you get hit without being close to it
Gargoyles aren't unfair at all, I had fun at that fight
Douwe Huysmans they are unfair as heck.. Spamming fire, using their long as halberds and tails, ganguing up on you and finally the risk of falling off the arena (at least in DS2 you can't fall to your death..)
ActionPackedJack dark souls 1 is just fucking trash, specially when compared to the amazing dark souls 2 and even 3
Fighting the witch herself would've been way cooler.
That's the the bitch(The bed of Bullshit)
It would've, or atleast fighting a corrupted version of the witch affected by chaos after beating the bed of chaos.
But nah, we got this abomination whooo
I doubt it dark souls magic bosses have never been good
@@randomplaceinruralamerica9618 i disagree aldrich was a fun fight
That was by far the most frustrating boss I have fought in this game. That damn last part was rage inducing.
+CrimsonDX I know, right?
+Nathan Forrest Yes, She was... excuse my language, but witch of izalith? more like "Bitch" of izalith... seriously, please tell me i'm not the only one who see's her as just a cheap boss who should not have deserved her area, her levels of horrid-ness equal that of pinwheels! the difference is, atleast pinwheel does'nt take 10 tries to kill!
+Mullic Rav I destroyed the two shields first time and avoided the floor collapsing was running around hitting at her arms with no avail trying to work out where to go, when I eventually died I saw the middle path on death screen and was like 'Eureka' but then the next 4-5 times I go back with balders shield +5 up she kept slapping me all the way to the edge of the room when I got close to centre till I ran out of estus lol such a fkin troll boss. This whole area seems dumb like what is with the big walking leg things in the larva that contribute nothing you just walk past them ._.
I killed the other two bosses on the way 1st try(summoned solaire for the centipede cause he gives items) just stood there in havels and tanked most of their hits while smacking them down, talk about difficulty spike..
Centipede was difficult in solo for me, of course i soloed him in NG+ becuase for some odd reason... solaires sign was missing! don't know why, i went to the area he was supposed to be killed in by the player afterwords, and nothing... but overall, he is quite the cheap boss... infact... most of lost izalith is when i think about it, all in different ways to... Sir Ceaseless get's a cheap kill from the fog gate, the fire sage is cheap for just being a re-skin of a re-skin... centipede has terrain advantage, unless you cut off his tail once, then you have a more... fair standing point, and lastly, the bitch of izalith, who i would consider, the WORST souls boss in existence... she is cheap just from her difficulty of essentially making dark souls a platforming game... the lost izalith... i can see why it was lost, because no one wanted to find it...
You can shoot the shield things. YOU CAN SHOOT THE FUCKING SHIELD THINGS?!
Nick Carbaugh Yup!
+Silver Mont I didn't have any arrows and tried to rush around the holes the boss was making but it kept making more holes to the point I couldn't even acess it's left hand side.
DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO SNIPE IT WITH FUCKIN' ARROWS? if so, I'm pissed because I'm not going all the way out of Izalith just to walk through all that bullshit
Nate's Life its possibly to run to them if you hug the BOC and use a shield with high stability. I just put a greatshield in my right hand and 2 hand it then charge, break it and quit the game, repeat
i rl hate the bed of chaos, the witch of izalith is such a cool character,it would have been way better if we fought the witch herself rather than a puzzle
Couldn't have said it better myself
MrDexter I mean it makes sense from a lore perspective why she became the Bed of Chaos, and narratively her fate was very tragic and appropos. Still, she could just have easily been a superwitch and it would have worked just as well, narratively *and* gameplay wise.
@@brendanrouth3807 or maybe
She COULD have protected the ACTUAL bed of chaos. Aka the smol bug. While she was the super witch with the power of flame and anime, you then kill her, maybe a cutscene starts and you kill the bed of chaos
Boom
@@brendanrouth3807 yeah but the fight is still just luck and zero strategy
thanks for not being one of the videos where its like "easy kill" then we see the guy play and he's like level 130 with havel armor
Yeah, I tried to make these videos work for everyone. You don't need to do some complex glitch, you don't need to farm for items or get lucky, don't need summons, etc.
There is a fun part to the fight. Sliding down. Weeee!
Corey Hunter And then for Nito, there's no slide. Just broken knees.
Silver Mont That dropped did more damage to me than Nito
Sousabird Silver Mont There's always the Fall Control sorcery. Or does that not work?
simongolddrone Possibly, I don't use mage.
Neither do I, but just a quick cast and all fall damage will be ignored, doesn't even require an upgraded INT level I believe. So that's one of the only useful sorceries.
"dark souls is a fair game" to be honest this is the most annoying and ridiculous boss fight ever.
+Ocelot Shalashaska They have unfair moments, yeah
"Take your time and advance"
*rapid sprinting*
I NEED MORE SPEED.
Tip to easily dodge chaos bed double swipe with 0 damage recieved: Use a shield with 100% physical damage reduction. Block the first swipe then roll left to dodge the second one. I did this a few minutes ago on a SL3 Sorcerer with a heater shield.
Even after 8 years thats useful, once i used your attempt i beat it first try, youre a life saver man, i hope youre doing well with your life.
Bed of Bullshit: Your Favorite Platformer Game!
+EightBitCC wot r u doin here
Madgoblin n i play dark souls just as much as i play rotmg heh
***** dark souls is fucking amazing, ds 2 was disappointing but still a great game, have you played bloodbourne though? I dont have a ps4 but i've heard it's legendary :OO
ds3 hype.
Madgoblin n i dont have a ps4. but ds3 looks great it looks like the same pace as ds1. im hyped
***** yee, me too.
5:24 and shoot the shield one more time, since that's how much you hate this boss.
Imagine if every time you died/reloaded you had to do all that shit all over again. That easily would've made me quit the game for good.
Btw that hitbox at 5:56 lol
Just got bombed under it, nearly finished. Couldn't do anything... 10/10 would die again.
most shit boss ever.
+Ryuk Bed of Assholes, indeed
The trick to this boss fight is to be at about 25% equipment load or lighter (You can use Havel's Ring, that helps a ton). Basically run to the right side shield up, take the hit, run to the right more, run off the ledge and boom, you're golden
+LiBRiUMz thank you thank you so much
No problem dude!
Why did I destroy the left shield first? Why did I do this to myself?
Sobs in corner.
***** Isn't that the easier way to do it? It's been a while and I'm getting confused now haha. I don't even remember what order I normally do it, now.
Well, when I went in for the first time I destroyed the left shield fine, but instead of quitting and restarting I went straight for the right shield. Because I'm a scrub, I died pretty much instantly, and now every time I go down most of the floor is destroyed on the right side. :/
hope that didn't sound to breathless, its kind of a specific situation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
***** I remember having no problem with either of the side bits, but failing the jump down to the middle like 8 times haha. Eventually though, you figure out a "safe" (relatively) way and then it just becomes muscle memory. Boss still stinks though. Old Chaos in Dark Souls II is a million times better.
Silver Mont Haha ok, my bad. I thought it was just the one side that causes the floor-breakage. I'll keep trying, thanks for the help! :D
Ah, Bed of Chaos. What could have been an interesting boss, instead was a poorly designed mess.
"Simply fall onto this walkway"
Me: trying to do so
Bed of chaos: whoosh, whoosh
Yeah lol its the worst boss fight in the game by far. The best way to defeat it is exit to the game menu then reload. When you fight the boss, their attack should be less severe like in the beginning
In my 4th try the boss got stuck in the ceiling and then died... i guess it din't want me to die over and over again. :l
I wish i had your luck
Thank you, it’s been 7 years since you’ve made this I hope your doing well, seems like the worlds on fire rn
It sure is
Wow, did not know about the hidden bonfire in the 2nd temple... makes life easier than having to go all the way to the back to the one near the cave! The 2nd shield was where I died, so I'm gonna use some of my unused arrows. Thank you for the tips!
At least we didn't have to fight the Bed of Chaos in the Crystal Caverns! Think on that for a moment.
Thanks Alex!
You’re my hero.
I’ve played though Dark Souks at least a dozen times, and this NG+ speedrun attempt was the first time I didn’t get swept into the holes once.
I didn’t realize arrows could break the shield.
You’re literally my savior cause I never picked up any rings of sacrifice this run. And couldn’t afford to lose these souls before Gwyn.
LOL
Slow mo kill was the best!
haha nice
Poses after killing boss; screams: "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED????"
Pointing would've been better. "You're next."
Perfect guide. Beat it on the first attempt, no deaths. Caught a bad roll and got swiped down to about 100hp but other than that, smooth sailing. Took about 3 mins.
That arrow strategy was a godsend. I dont remember how I approached this back in 2011. But I didn't have a problem with my first run on the new Remaster. Ng+ however? The left sweeping arm would kill me in one shot. Even while wearing Havel's Gear and my shield up. If not for the arrow strategy I would've lost my fucking mind. Thanks!!!!
Hmm… So I just beat this boss today for the first time, and all I have to say is what the fuck. Killing the three Lords and Seath the Scaleless should feel satisfying! But, I agree with most folks: this boss just sucked! I only died about seven times; it was getting to the right…barrier shield thing that gave me the most trouble, and took me two tries to land on the center branch. One-hit kill with Dragon Tooth. But Jesus Christ, what exactly did I kill? Which part of this boss was the Witch of Izalith? The tree demon? The bug thing? I'm assuming the latter. Honestly, I felt kind of bad for the Lords for all the misfortune that befell them, but with this cunt nugget, I feel nothing as cheap as she was. >_>
I just go in naked, and two-hand a tower shield.
Like a Boss. >:/
that's actually pretty smart despise I'm using dex :/
Grass Crest Shield works too!
OfficerMarmalade I two handed a 10+ Baller Sheild with max endurance and I killed boss 1st try XD
Keh heh he ha ha HA HA HAAA! (that's my hollow laugh.)
This video literally made my day. Ive been attempting this boss for three goddamn days
If you run up to the middle bit, aim in the appropriate areas, throw fire bombs on each side, when the flor collapses you're already on the trail down to the heart. No running, jumping, or cheeseing required.
Thanks man, this seem like a solid strategy.
I've been triying the 0 deaths challenge and i was fearing this part, but I think I have it in the bag now.
You helped me 7 years ago and helped me again right now, thanks again.
Help is eternal
Lost Izalith, the place I hate, many fire, many lava, enemy like a dinosaurs, and the unamed sister of chaos.
Nick Valley It's not that bad. Tomb of giants is worse. Cant see shit even with light.
Izalith makes you blind, Tomb of the Giant is easy after 2-3 trips. The Lava of Izalith is never easy to look at.
@@SeanQuinn-IrishMarxist its easy when you have a lighting
There are three bosses in Dark Souls that aggravate me: Ceaseless Discharge, Four Kings, and Bed of Chaos. I try to do deathless runs of the game, all bosses included (as well as DLC bosses), but I've only been successful once. Ceaseless crapped on me with his hitbox bullshit and ended two deathless runs, so I eventually said "Fuck it, I've already killed you the legitimate way several times"; I have been cheesing him with pride ever since. Four Kings is an easy fight as long as they don't drag out the battle by spamming magic; if they spam magic, you'll end up fighting multiple of them at once, and THAT is when the fight becomes nearly impossible for a melee character user like me. BoC has claimed THREE of my fucking runs. I have learned to kill her before FK, Nito, or Seath now, because dying to her right before tackling the DLC content or Gwyn is just a waste of time if you delete failed deathless files like I do.
Xade76, our hero Yeah, as I learned in my SL1 run - Four Kings are certainly luck based to some extent. And BoC is just a pile of ass.
Ben Allen Thanks for the advice, but I already knew that. I mentioned it in my original comment. I have defeated Ceaseless Discharge the legitimate way multiple times, but his ability to instantly kill you when you don't have a high amount of Vitality just doesn't make for a very fair boss fight. I have lost No Death runs because of him, so now I always kill him with the secret method. :)
lol I'm on my first run right now and ceaseless discharge sucks. I just put on the robes, the black iron shield, and flash sweated it.
Brandon Bell He is more likely to kill me than most other bosses in the game, so that's why I cheese him now. I'd definitely fight him normally if my route involved fighting him LATER in the game, but I'd much rather just get him out of the way right after Quelaag so I can drain the Demon Ruins.
Xade76, our hero All 3 of those bosses I haven't died to yet, in both of my playthroughs of dark souls so far lol.
6:56 lmfaooo this guy
That dramatic last hit thoughh!!! Lol
Catalyst hits are always fun.
Damn... sniping the shields, you deserv a nobel prize.... thanks
Wow this was uploaded 4 years ago and I’m still a person who is getting use out of it
This video was really helpful :)
I'm here to kill chaos
C h a o s
After beating him hard way (jumped tree to tree on the right way) i have to say your method is way easier but still happy to have found my own way to beat it ^^
I like how a little shit was causing me so much rage for this boss :3
everytime i have a bit of trouble with a boss on this game i seem to end up on your boss kill vids....sooo i subbed :)
'Easy Kill' -> Gets ass kicked constantly.
Yeah, great video.
Yeah it is
shield stability over everything for this boss
that slow-motion though
Get underneath the centipede demon and two hand the halberd and spam the strong attack. 3 or 4 times and that fucker's dead!
Wow, although I've managed to defeat the bed of bullshit boss multiple times in the past it was accompanied with lots of frustration and stuggle. However with this strategy I've managed to defeat the Bed of chaos boss on the first attempt. I know this video is 9 years old but none the less very effective strategy. Much appreciated.
Relevance to title begins at 3:30
Woops. Well, it's generally easier to avoid the firestorms than it is the sweeping arm stuffs. Once you get off the narrow walkway and into the bit where her arms can't hit you, that's when you can run like Tom Hanks in that movie with the stuff.
Yeah, the jump is what used to give me a lot of trouble, until I found that one part of the floor that juts out, and used that as a visual reference, as you can just drop off that to land on the branch/path below.
Your weapon looks like it has minecraft enchantment on it xd
Once you know that spot to aim for on the last run it's easy, just never hesitate on that run but boogie till you get onto that branch.
i nailed it in normal play easily... but somehow git my ass handed to me numerous times in NG+ - NG+4
i nailed it in normal play easily... but somehow git my ass handed to me numerous times in NG+ - NG+4
i nailed it in normal play easily... but somehow git my ass handed to me numerous times in NG+ - NG+4
First try with your guide. Ty. BTW I was a heavy tank so I had no struggle at all with his attacks.
Silver Mont, thank you for the added hilarity in the video. I seriously needed it, after getting my rear end smacked by this boss more times than I was comfortable with.
Ultima Heartless I felt the same way! Hence why it gets killed by catalyst pummels.
Silver Mont And thanks once again for the Gwyn video too. I wouldn't have thought to use parry again if you missed it the first time, as I try to play defensively, whereas you need to be a bit offensive with the shield. I was so happy when I beat the game...Which left when I kept getting one-shotted by the Gaping Dragon on NG+...
+Ultima Heartless lol I flawlessed that shit head early game
this is what bosses in puzzle games feel like
"a shield with high stability helps a lot here"
-Proceeds to get slapped around many times without blocking a single attack
I did not have such a shield
you know a game is good when you have to watch an 8 year old video just to figure out what the fuck you're supposed to do
Bed of chaos is one real crappy boss haha
Boy this boss looks fun I'm just now at the firelink shrine and I got lost there for like a day and now that I know what I'm doing this should be fun!
Praise be thine cheese.
I watched a speed runner do it with 2 bombs .. I wasted about 50 and still failed to hit one shield, and thx I didn't know about that bonfire before him too
Yeah, it's possible if you're very accurate. I am not.
That dramatic ending, pure bliss, lol
Sometimes it takes a while to get the shot down, I was kinda lucky in this video that I got it so early.
thank you for that, I will use that for my no death playthrough, but instead of quitting, I will use an homeward Bone!
"Well, at least getting my souls back will be easy..."
*immediately falls into hole upon reaching the boss fight*
(didnt realize the boss would be perma-aggro after dying lol)
Rip!
So...I took out the left one first and now it's nearly impossible to get to the right one. I get swiped off the edge every time....any pointers now that I made this fight even harder for myself?
Swiper no swiping...
on the boss now seeing your video help me out alot
The slo-mo at the end was amazing 🤣
Thanks dude! I was stuck on him while doing my SL1 run. This really saved me. This strat even works when you don't have the stats for a bow I can confirm
Good luck with 4K, those guys were a pain at level 1.
@@SilverMont thanks man! Can't believe you actually replied :)
When you said "now the frustrating part" my first thought was naw freaking duh!
Sears Projects Hah!
cant believe i never found this guide
best one by far
3:33 for Bed Of Chaos fight.
Thank you sooo much. I couldt figure out how to kill him and when you shown it I just said to my self "...you taking the piss?" Thanks again your awesome
"Simple fall onto the tree root and waltz to the boss"... yeah right! Its anything but simple... *laughs crazidly* >_>;;;;;
I know this video is old but.. Lol it really helped me a lot playing back through the remaster so just wanted to say thank you!
Part of me is glad they didn't tweak the boss in the Remaster - so this video still helps people! Although it would've been nice if they made it so the boss doesn't suck.
Too right, brother.
if you take off your fire walk ring, maybe for some extra poise.. don't forget you took it off if you die. rip 50k souls and 10 humanity.
kev butts
i bet you didn't do it three times though :(
+Ratama I was doing the Siegmeyer quest where he fought a bunch of those octupuse spider things in a basement.
I took off my orange charred ring to put on the iron rusted ring.
After killing all of them, I ran out to look around, I saw a pit and I jumped in it, and died.
Why would there be a pit there?
Wtf?
Then I ran out into the lava and died.
There goes 98k souls and 1 humanity.
Why do people keeping going into boss battles with 100k souls
Plox lol I never do that.. I either spend it all with level ups or items or use Rings of Sacrifice/Life Protection.. But one time I lost over 700k souls in one of my DS2 NG+ lol how reckless
1:15 Dat lingering hitxbox though...
Also didn't really know you could arrow the fire core thingies in BoC, even I (a guy who's played through DS like 30+ or so times) learned something new, so thanks Silver. :)
+YinYangKi You can also stand in the middle and firebomb both sides, which is perhaps an even better tactic, that someone told me about a few months ago!
Silver Mont
That'd take some damn good skill though, wouldn't it? Free-aiming firebombs is awkward. XD
Congrats!
THANKS I should of try to figure this out myself but I wasn't doing any damage. This helps a lot thanks
what i did was put the havel's shield on the right hand and use two handed, then defend.it works even when you dont have enough strenght
***** Good idea!
Also one thing to remember is if you get rid of the right and the left shields and then you say get killed or fall to your death as long as you come straight back to it from the bonfire both of those shield will still be down and you’ll just have to drop down onto the tree root cause the floor will be gone and go into the middle and kill him it’s a very strange mechanic so don’t think that you have to start all over just cause you died
Nicely done!
I keep getting either slapped off the ledge while falling for I get blown up by her "boi u takin too danm long" attack
Yay can't wait to do this on NG+7 Fuck this boss
+Nicole Franklin In fairness, this is one boss who doesn't scale too much with the difficulty. Unlike say... Four Kings, they can be rascals on NG+ cycles, at least for me.
protip, if you take too long going up the root to the lizard, the fire tempests WILL still hit you
it is the worst thing ever to be standing in front of her and to have a giant fucking flame pillar finish you off
thanks man, so easy but i din´t have patience. if u know, is an easy boss. thanks a lot!
i saw the thumbnail, and my brain instantly read "Brain of Nachos". WTF is wrong with me.
You need to eat some nachos, apparently! I don't really know what they are. Something like doritos?
Silver Mont hmmm... brain nachos...sounds squishy.
Silver Mont and i love ur vids, BTW
I got both shields first try but fell when trying to make the jump to kill it, I was about to be so sad but when I came back the second time they were already broken and all I had to do was making the jump, idk if that’s how the game is intended to work but I sure am glad I didn’t have to spend any more time in this boss lol
Thankfully that does seem to be intentional!
You helped me alot on the remastered version thanx buddy
I would only add that after you've dropped onto the bridge and made it past the swipe attacks, don't take too long. She can perform that Firestorm attack on you while you're inside and you'll be trapped.
Bruh I screamed out a whole WHAAAAAAAT???!!!! On the last part this whole time I was fighting it going head on to the left right and circle while dodging the broken ground bruh
2 firebombs and bed of chaos is sleeping...
EASY TRICK THAT WORKS
After starting the fight and hitting both sides, exit to the main menu. Then reload it again. This will make the boss less aggressive like at the beginning of the fight. Though it will still be the final stage of the fight. Easy way to pass her without getting spammed with woosh woosh
For anyone having trouble with the swipes, remember to turn and block the swipe head-on. You'll only get knocked back a few feet, as opposed to getting sideswiped into the pit.
