This message needs to reach the highest authority of the seventh adventist hurch , so adamant that women should occupy inferior positions in the church and at home. How can the kingdom of God be established on a curse. How do men in the church rejoice and find comfort in ruling over women when it's against the restoration that came through the death of Jesus Christ. Men and women are equal. Thank you Pastor Khethelo Mazibuko for this message

The message does carry common errors in biblical teachings about marriage on a couple of issues. One very glaring for me is his take on Ephesians 5 (about biblical submission).
Let me explain, and please bear with me!
First of all, I fully agree with Pastor Mazibuko that we are all equal before God. The submission of wives is not like the obedience children owe parents, nor does the biblical text command all women to submit to all men. Both genders are equally created in God’s image. A husband is not superior in any shape or form to his wife. I feel it's extremely important to preface my perspective with this point, in agreement with Pastor Mazibuko.
However, submission as prescribed in Scripture is inherent in God’s created order. And unlike what Pastor Mazibuko is teaching, the concept of submission both precedes the Fall and is not about superiority/ inferiority.
The headship of the husband is not rooted in some punishment for sin. Therefore, it has no bearing on the Cross. God judged both the man and the woman in the Garden for the sin. But the fact that women are to submit to their husbands is not merely the product of the Fall of the human race into sin, but is a product of God’s creation, structure and order. In other words, even if sin had never entered the world, a wife would still be expected to submit to her husband. Submission is deeply embedded in the trinitarian relationship of God in the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
The concepts of husband headship and wife submission are rooted in the depiction of the relationship Christ has with the Church. A husband is a type of Christ in his marriage, and a wife a type of the Church. Hence that chapter (Ephesians 5) reads that a husband must love his wife LIKE CHRIST loves the Church, and wife submits to her own husband AS UNTO THE LORD. The ultimate reason a wife is to submit to her husband is so that the marriage mirrors the relationship Christ has with His church. In other words, just as Christ is Head of the church and we submit to Him, the husband is the head of his wife and she should submit to him.
On the issue of mutual submission, ie. that the husband and wife submit to each other, as Pastor Mazibuko teaches, then he has to explain how does Christ submit to the Church? If marriage in it's very design by God, is to mirror the relationship Christ has with the church, then how does mutual submission work between Christ and church? Furthermore, Pastor Mazibuko has to explain why is it that NO WHERE else in the bible is the husband instructed to submit to his wife (except the passage I believe he misinterprets in Ephesians 5:21/22), but EVERYWHERE else this theme is discussed in the bible, it's always unequivocally the wife that is instructed to submit? (See Col. 3:18; 1 Peter 3: 1-7; 1 Cor. 11:3; 1 Timothy 2:11-12; Titus 2:5).
My strong belief is, the idea of mutual submission in a biblical marriage is unscriptural. It's unbiblical!
Ephesians 5:21 (about mutual submission) is a conclusion of a different passage in the Chapter. It's a passage that deals with how believers should treat one another. The verse (21) is not even a stand alone sentence. The passage begins in verse 18 about not getting drunk with wine. Verse 22 is a beginning of a new passage altogether about marriage. There basically is a gap between verse 21 and verse 22, whose audience shouldn't be confused. Again, there is no where in Scripture where husbands are instructed - as a matter of principle - to submit to their wives. Nowhere!

@@thembumdaligwala6921 No Sir. Not true. Otherwise the Lord God would never have instituted the pain of childbearing as judgement, if it was always going to be there in spite of the sin. Judgement is precisely that because of the sin... and it's meant to be painful. Otherwise it doesn't qualify as judgement / punishment.

I don't agree with this preacher, don't try to mislead the Church. God wasn't stupid to create an order.
By having man come first is an indication that superiority lies with him.
Every society including women chamas must have order and one who leads in discussion.
For me women were created to be inferior and that's the position they were to occupy in marriage, society and every deliberations.
Are you trying to contradict the teaching of Paul in Corinthians 14:34 about the position of women.
Was Ellen white wrong to keep away from every pulpit and leading in worship, because it's recorded that she never did despite the powerful revelation she had.
    Restructure your sermon bro.

    • @myafricanmind

Mutual respect does not disrupt the order, the head respecting the body? Do the functions of the head have to undermine the whole body? Or body parts to treat each other with respect? In the Bible women were able to have a say, like Sarah suggested Hagar, Elkana's wives suggested to Elkana though it was a competition, Abigail, and many more stories where women were expressing themselves freely , making decisions, not treated like minors and were respected. What I disagree with and I don't see it in the Bible where men's words are final, even with King David and others marriages, there was mutual respect not inferiority syndrome in women like in some cultures, where respect is supposed to be a one way street, it has always to be towards the man and never vice versa.
