Those windowless packages are going to be known as one of the worst business decisions a company has ever made.
Gonna go down in history like 1.5 liter Coke bottles and New Coke.
its the dumbest thing to care about it oh no I can't see it, then open it
I know what they were trying to go for here, but this is just going to create more problems than it's worth. It's either we're going to have to open up the windowless boxes at the store to check them out before we buy them or wait until we get home to be disappointed like a kid that got nothing but clothes for Christmas. 🎄😣👕
@@bud_kleric2771
“Then open it”. And then you’d have to disassemble the whole packaging AROUND/ON the figure, you clearly haven’t gotten any of the newly boxed figures.
Yep. Why didn't they just use a recyclable plastic for the window display?
Turns out shitty packaging and shitty pricing isn't a good combination. Who knew?
It honestly sucks that hasbro keeps making the prices more and more expensive on the marvel legends, classifieds, and lightning collection figures. For me I've actually started getting more mcfarlane and even some bandai products because they are overall cheaper by comparison. Hasbro seriously needs to realize that they are only going to lose consumers of their products if they with their current trend. It kinda hurts me to say this, considering how much I really enjoyed the past few waves of marvel legends. I hate to see the prices go up, but at the end of the day, I have to think about how to spend my money to get the most bang for my buck.
What’s crazy is that they are cheaping out on packaging but not changing the quality of the figure for 10 dollars usd more
@@knightzilver4696 Yesh, I'm just about on the precipice of tapping out. Thank god I chose to only collect a specific subsect of figures, otherwise I'd be ticked. As it is, I'm nearing a place where I'll be satidfied with my collection, and then I can stop.
@@knightzilver4696they are only doing this because of the inflation that's happening around the world
@@knightzilver4696 I'm no expert, but I suppose their zero plastic packaging is meant more as an alternative to raising the figure's prices even more (while keeping plastic windows) due to rising production cost.
The environment-conscious statement they have is more of a prettier excuse for their practices, because companies in general don't care that much about polution.
@@Rafael_R plastic price had nothing to do with it. Hasbro told shareholders at a meeting that they don't need to raise prices but they feel that the "consumer" (suckers) will still pay the higher prices.
Finally Legends collectors have grown pair and stopped supporting the BS
No one should buy those overpriced legends let them peg warm 💯
They're getting to be a bit much.
i agreed with you
Agreed. Not paying all that $ for figures i cant even see. Hope that windowless fad hurts them big time.
even if US people didn't buy them, there are other people from other countries who would pay really well for those overpriced plastics.
@@ind0g_nesia First off it cost even more in foreign countries so if they buy it that's just their problem.
People are swapping figs like crazy but with the new marvel boxes that’ll make it even easier yikes.
Ion get it why swap figs when they could just take them at that point
When someone bought that up to the legends team, they basically were like “Oh well”
Never happened to me.... yet
@@ultimateslinger9857 That's such uncaring jerky behaviour from the team
Legends used to be a collector's go-to since the whole purpose of the line was to be affordable and extremely diverse. Now it's just overpriced crap.
it's worse when you have to buy from third party sellers.
Not only is it overpriced crap but it's not even available depending on where you live.
@@danielcraig9666 yeah, if you live anywhere in Asia then you're f*cked.
As a kid I used to get all the Toybiz ones. Come back a few years later and Jesus Christ you can see the cheapness in the new figures. Old ones had so much detail, even had weapons painted. Now it’s just crap.
Same thing with blow up dolls. Theyd make beautiful anime ones noe its just meshed up plastic
The price change wouldn't be too bad if they did better with accessories. As for the windowless packaging, there are far too frequent paint issues with these figures to justify not having the window.
My issues with Hasbro Marvel Legends is:
1. They went up on there prices
2. The quality of the figures in my opinion is horrible. They just don't put much work into them.
3. It's hard to find some figures depending on the area you're in.
4. They constantly release the same characters with slightly different color schemes. *like Wolverine* how many of the same Wolverines will they come out with
true, marvel legends mcu moon knight are easily out of stock, now only piece of shit scalpers selling them expensively.
@@ind0g_nesia Yeap. It was so hard to find Ironheart. & when you would find them folks want double for the character
Wolverine is probably a bad example as his buck really does warrant multiple looks and versions. But you have a point with literally most other characters. It is getting so bad they don't even wait a full year anymore to just re-release characters.
@@tryksta7247 yeah I’m just tired of Hasbro doing a sheety job on their figures. SH Figuarts figures are better but way more expensive
Its definitely really flawed but as a collector its all I can really afford lol
for the quality, price and windowless boxes, im def scaling back on legends.Ill take my chances and hope I find on clearance
The price increase for the Marvel Legends has really altered my collection. I also collect mint packaged figures. With the windowless packaging, I find it hard to trust that I get the figures I pay for. This new "environmentally friendly" wave makes me nervous
Hasbro outscalping the scalpers
If I can't see the figurine in the paint applications and how well it's done I'm not going to buy it Hasbro better rethink their whole packaging idea real quick.
I'd certainly love to get the Spider-Man ones but I don't have the room to be able to open and display them. At least my Mcfarlanes I can still look at and pick out a good one
@@davekolan862 oh I agree I'm completely out of room as well and honestly with the prices of these Marvel Legends it's crazy but I will admit McFarlane it's absolutely killing it when it comes to his figures of course I'm a huge spawn fan myself but other than that his Multiverse line is incredible.
Hardcore Legends collectors pre-ordered those "Renew Your Vows" packs. They'll pay the hike prices. However, the casual brick & mortar store toy shoppers aren't as likely to pay the higher prices for figures, so BestBuys, Walmarts and Targets are bound to put these windowless box sets on discount eventually. Hasbro seems to be testing the market right now, trying to determine ways to continue to cut corners while charging extra in an effort to see how far they can push things before customers dwindle. It's like they're trying to determine what is cost effective in the ever-changing market for selling figures. It might actually backfire on them, because a lot of collectors actually can hold a grudge better than a ceramic cup can hold coffee.
All ready started with the figure swapping, they replaced it with the Ben Reilly and some other fig I have not seen. I'm done with Marvel legends. Hasbro had been disappointing for years.
Marvel Legends not for the price, those are so expensive man. Same with AEW toys, my Wal-Mart has been sitting on them simply because they are now $24....crazy. I would rather buy McFarlane figures for $20-$25 and get a better figure with detail than any Legends.
Fr. All I collect is Mcfarlane and Neca. I'm thinking about getting into Selects to have some Marvel representation but I won't ever buy a Legens for 30 bucks. They're between $27 and $32out here
I'm certainly not paying $28+ for a figure I'd have to open to be able to look at or display well
@@davekolan862 100% agree, not sure who made the decision on that but they shouldn’t be making those types of decisions lol
@@craxyman9025 that is crazy, I can see $20…. I mean I would prefer $15 but $20 is understandable, $30…. Not for a legends figure.
Prices are affecting my collecting. What's really killing it is having the ones I want only coming one per case. Not paying scalper prices for that one either. If I don't find it in the wild...i can do without.
So they removed the windows on figures which are frequently opened by people to steal stuff out of? The only way for real customers to see if anything has been stolen out of the packaging, and to see what the figures really look like and if they are damaged off the assembly line is to open them. That is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen...
Who's gonna gamble throwing expensive price tag on something they cannot check the product's QC?
There reported paint app QC issues with Spidey-Spinneret 2-packs.
Worst Decision by Hasbro consumer-wise by "going green" just to appease some enviromental groups just to "look good" for the company.
Ever since 2017 I have tried to get every single Marvel Legend, but recently I was forced to cancel a lot of my pre orders in order to budget myself, which is the first time I have ever done that. The price increases are going to cost them a great deal of money, and admittedly at this point a small part of me wants Legends to die, which breaks my heart to say, but I see it as the only way for them and other brands to get the message.
Buy the Star Trek figures; the sculpts and prices are phenomenal.
@@kylekullin2520 How about the articulation?
@@jeffsoltess4853 Yes, superior to the old ones.
Marvel Legends are far too expensive for what they are, especially compared to something like Mcfarlane figures
True that 💯
For a basic marvel legends figure should be 15 or 16 dollars let’s be honest, and I say basic. Something like retro Spider-Man at a reasonable price is 20 bucks.
@@fartpantsmcdingle Yeah exactly 💯
Yes the price increase is affecting me when it come to Marvel legends. I did the last thor wave. And unless I can get the figures under 25 I’m not getting them. I would rather get a import figure. That might be worth more than a marvel legend. The only ones I’m willing to pay out that price for is some of the wrestling figures and Fortnite. That is not a import figure.
Yuuup price increases have totally removed Marvel Legends from my collection until they either drop in price due to stores being smarter than Hasbro and lowering it via clearance or Hasbro smartens up themselves and realizes they overstepped BIG TIME.
Tbh i never have a problem with windowless packaging because i collect gundam but after seeing the review for the stealth future foundation suit, i see that the figure in hand is worse than what it supposed to look like in the box art and dont forget the price hike. Basically windowless packaging is not good for marvel legends at all and i despise the price hike.
When they started pulling this, I switched over to DC multiverse even though I'm more of a marvel guy. And I can say, the quality of DC multiverse is so much better and worth every penny. I bought the Atrocitus BAF wave and my god, the figures are beautiful. Not familiar with the Blackest Knight characters much but the figures are so good I don't care. DC has my money now. I say to every collector to give McFarlane's DC Multiverse line a chance. Most figures are a whopping 10 bucks less than marvel legends, and have better quality, sculpt and paint. And I am not sorry, Hasbro. You did this to yourselves
I’m not familiar with blackest night either but that wave of figures looks super awesome..
I think it’s the change in the legends package. I get the environment issue, in respect of the plastic but it just doesn’t look as good when figure is covered
It makes it kinda look cheap, like a little kids toy
It is a little kids toy
@@davekolan862 buddy, might wanna look the aisle it's shelved
@@urgod4259 They're not
@@Owen-ub3fv they are. Marvel legends are made for children who wanna collect them. As a adult your opinion comes last
I slowed down on ML due to the price increase, but I’ll definitely keep collecting Neca.Great video!!👍
I know everyone in this comments section is talking about them being overpriced, and you are gosh darn right!
I have 28 Marvel Legends, and I've gone to Funko Pops, because they're very affordable and just are great overall.
Here in Canada, Marvel Legends used to be $38 (WOW, I know right?), and now they have jumped to around $45.... WHATTTTTT
The Two-Packs are around $75-$95
The price hike is really getting me. I don’t wanna hear the inflation excuses, as other brands are holding price (Mcfarlane). If they were to start offering consistent extra accessories and heads then I would have no issue paying more. They need to remember that marvel legends is a toy brand, not a collectible like SH or Mafex
Marvel legends are far to exspensive now....but honestly what is really killing the line is the windowless packaging
How can windowless packaging be really killing anything when these are literally the first wave of figures to use it? Also last I checked isn't the internet a giant windowless warehouse? With this mentality I take it you've never bought a figure off line.?
@@tyestancil2783 thanks for assuming what my comment meant lol ....besides what it actually meant
Great vid. Just a tad, jealous, just a tad with the selection at your stores. 😉 The WM near me doesn't even have a display or figures for the Super Powers figures. My search continues. 😆
The price increase for legends is REALLY affecting my collecting I could barely afford a normal 2 pack but they are $12 more now and $22 figure is $27 now
Lucky!
Here in Canada, they used to be $38, and now they have jumped up to $44
This video lied to me, when I went to my local Walmart and Target today, they didn’t have a single Spider-Man with Spinneret two pack from Marvel Legends! You’re so lucky, all I found was the Ned and Peter two pack and the one Spider-Man with the stealth suit or whatever and that’s it, but that’s not what I wanted
I really wanted the Bone Crusher BAF, but I wasn't about to purchase all the generic random a$$ figures that no one asked for for $25 each to build it.
Walmart and Targets in Houston are full of "Bone Crusher" wave, "Woke Thor" wave, and the windowless figures as well.
I've been doing a lot of scaling back on collecting lately. It's been pretty unbearable to see all of these new Marvel Legends, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, GI*Joe Classified Series, WWE and AEW figures going up for pre-order right now. But when you see how much everything that I've just mentioned costs, you just can not help but cringe. 😬💰💰💰💸
Yup I'm never buying any of these windowless boxes
It's bullshit
I'm only getting mine from big bad toy store
Cause I know it won't be tampered with and if something is wrong I'll just send it bad
It's ridiculous
Their getting rid of the plastic windows but your still getting a plastic figure made of plastic resins
Go figure
What's next bio degradable action figures
They dissolve in a year or two
It seems that Spiderman product with Mary Jane is doing good. The only thing that isn't doing good is the Spiderman with Peter Parker and whatever the name of the other kid is🤣. that one is lame. 🤫
What, not in a rush to spend $50 on a chubby Ned figure in a polo shirt? Lol
@@davekolan862 Lmao 🤣
I rather have Peter and mary jane not the knockoff gankee lee who isn't ned leed.
I couldn't help seeing all those boxes literally destroyed by theft devices they need to find a better way then that I mean damn that's sad ! . As for those marvel figures people are getting tired of the outrageous prices as am I our store has about 15 of each of them also which normally we'd see none lol .
It's ridiculous how expensive legends are.it is affecting me.2499 now,mc Fairlane at Walmart 20 bucks.i started collecting when legands were 20dollars.year or two now they are 27 with tax.its bull.it bothers me
The price of collector toys has been going up for a while now. The bigger transformers (but nothing special) are $50 plus. Those Star Wars vehicles are over $40. Some smaller regional stores sell Marvel Legends for $29.99. That's a joke. What hasn't gone up? Buzz Lightyear has officially bombed at stores. They will never sell it.
I def would have picked up the new venom 2 pack of A: the item was displayable in box with the window and B: it wasn’t gauging prices. Otherwise cool figure.
Yes price increase has me sticking to collecting 2 characters. As much as I want to collect hasbro action figures and the likes, I value my acct balance more. Their loss. They’re trying to cash in on us nostalgic nerds but they’re over estimating the market.
I don't think Funko is dying it's just their behind in releases
Cardboard comes from 🎄 trees, right? More use of cardboard, more trees have to be cut down. Yeah, go green. Timber!
At these prices, I might as well spend a little more and pick up Joytoys. I'm not as attached to the Marvel Movie Characters.
Windowless packages lol. I'm looking at a new McFarlane Robin... withi his leg popped off. I've found TWO Transformers Arcee wheels on the FLOOR, because Hasbro thinks "no plastic window" is brilliant lol. And now figures that you can't see how bad a paint job is. Why are toy companies trying to destroy childhood happiness? LOL.
Since the price increase, the figure has to be something I really want and a slam dunk for me to pick it up. Coming up with $20 here and there is one thing, but the price increase on ML coming at the same time everything else has gotten more expensive is a perfect storm for passing on a random figure.
Hell yeah its effecting my purchases. Upwards of 30 bucks for some figures that are just basic!! NOPE.
Luckily for me most of the "teams" and all that and alike for Legends I already have! Glad I'm not a new collector, I'll just say that.
Yep , this "new" era of figure collecting sucks ass.Hidden toys ,double costs , constant re-paints & lame choices. Went back to collecting better valued dust-collectors.
Time for some Mcfarlanes now
its kinda dumb they removed the little window. like what if you buy it and it was missing different pieces. its almost enough to compare to apple removing the charger
I stopped buying or wanting to buy Hasbro after their ugly, uninspired Jurassic World line. As a dino toy collector myself, I can't really bring myself to buy any of the Marvel Legends figs, and from an outside perspective I'm kinda tired of seeing them around, like Funkos. That being said, Hasbro should take notes from Mattel, their Hammond line of JW is incredible and affordable
Insane prices from hasbro.
No one wants to buy them because we don't know if the figures inside have been swapped. And If you can't see the figure, you can't assess the Quality control of things like paint apps or damaged joints. Windowless packaging is gonna Cost Hasbro a lot of money. As a collector I'm scaling back my purchases and avoiding windowless packaging. Get woke Go broke.
For sure the price hike is affecting what I pick up. Not paying 30$ for a Jawa, etc. I haven’t been pre-ordering anything, by the time you get it with shipping, you’re spending 40$. Rather spend 80 on a Mafex or a One12.
I saw the Ned and Peter one at Target and I was impossibly confused. I thought it was cool they were even making figures like that, but I don't get to look at the actual product inside? A type of product known for it's insane fluctuations in production quality? Just a professionally made picture of the best versions to be spit out of the batch? Um, thanks but no thanks…
That is how a major toy company can lose so much money by making dumba$$ decisions like the windowless packaging + the constant price increases. They are now getting close to asking close to NECA prices for a inferior product. I honestly hope they fall on their face as a result....
The Walmart near me, all the figures are in glass case. You have to ask someone to pull them out good luck with finding an employee. They're never around. 😲😲😲🤔🤔🤔
Damn what ever happened when action figures where like 10$-15$ and good quality now they’re expensive and cheap material 😭😭😭
Cause it’s an ugly look on the Hasbro boxes
Plus, the price is just too high now
Even $25 is like eh cmon dude nah
But $30? Hell no, it has to be like the best of the best
dont buy the boxed marvel legends figures at stores unless its the day they put it out........ already got screwed over with magic the gathering cards instead of figures and those were commons so ugh. do i return it or just accept being screwed?
They are ruining collecting no one wants a box with a picture screw the environment lol
Worst marketing decision ever. People don't want to buy these in the stores let alone on Amazon where it is even easier for scalpers to swap figures because of their return policy!
yo I honestly hate how the figures are on shelves in walmart in this video but when i go to get it theres nothing there
Bro I live in a small place so there’s literally no good toys nearby. Even at my target
I wish I found wolverine bec I want one myself I don’t got a lot but I wanna find one and get it
What makes you believe Funko Pops are dying? It's Funko's bread and butter ever year
Kinda scared of buying windows less stuff especially at Walmart
prices are a bit steep.....most Legends are 34 a piece in Canada, but toys r us has raised their prices to 44 dollars for a standard Legend....Game stop tried it for about a month or so but put their prices back down to 32 bucks......I wonder more if people are getting out of the hobby of collecting
Only time I buy at TRU is when the figures go on clearance for 20 bucks
Never buying Legends again due to unreal price increase.
I work at a Best Buy. No one to this day has bought any of the eternals sprite figures. It’s quite hilarious as we’ve just moved her around to all these clearance shelf’s and still it stays untouched. The whole aisle could be moved around and then that one just sits in a perfect line LMAOO.
Where u can buy it target ? Like what store I always wanna buy action figure
Price increases and the windowless packaging don't help.
They could've just made the window smaller, like on the fortnite figs but they got rid of the window entirely. Not only is figure swapping a potential issue, but so is bad paint/qc issues.
Wish no one was buying these at any store I ever go to…
It's absolutely changed the way I collect. No more impulse buys. I'm a DC guy so I can justify $20. But close to 30 for Marvel and Star Wars that's were I draw the line. I guess I will have to live vicariously through you.
The last time I went to best buy it was just neca (horror) figures with windows in the same aisle and I ended up buying the ultimate predator jungle hunter
Japanese Spider-Man? Or, the ones for the new Thor love and thunder movie? either way, I’m really excited for the Japanese Spider-Man figure that is coming out. That might be my first marvel legends figure, if I don’t end up finding a Drax figure first.
Price increase definitely has had an impact for me
I bought my nephew the no way home mysterio and strange for $20 before the movies release and now they’re 4.99
I had to leave these on the shelf the other day, as I could not see the product and therefore couldn’t make a decision whether to buy. The dude behind the counter said he would take a couple out of their packaging and display them for customers but Id still be reluctant, as there’s no guarantee against CQ issues.
Good lord man, those windowless boxes are awful both in function and in looks. You guys remember going to a toy store and they have these shiny ass beast wars transmetals figures just calling your name cuz of how cool they look? Ugh god I'm old.
Yes 👍 I’ve decided if it not on clearance…I’m not buying legends.
Same
your making us all seasick. i know one has to pan. move the camera side to side. but when you move it 100 mph. we cant see anything. it is blurry. not focused. and makes us sea sick. and the cool stuff we want to see. we cant. slow down...........chill. enjoy your trip to the toy store. slower pans side to side.
Figures that you have in mega stores like wallmart etc in our stores in greece not even the half from the half exists! I imagine my self if i was in there and had money in my card all the money would have flown away just like that with the snap of my fingers! Is it possible that ppl in your regions have bored all those stuff and leaves most of the stuff hanging around instead buying?
0:06 I see goku :>
I'd buy it. Wolverine action figure and DC legends. Pokemon and marvel too. I'd get superhero costumes too, superman and thor. But these days can afford it? Because of this war and covid-19. I'm not stunned. But I miss toys R us
I mean inflation is a thing right? Or am I living in a different world? 😆
Prices have skyrocketed everywhere in the US even the action figures are going from 24.99 to 29.99 my days of collecting action figures are over
We got the best Spider-Man figure in the renew your vows pack, but it just sucks it's not sold separately.
most of neca stuff and other stuff like this we don't have in kmart or big w in Australia only can find in comic places and zing which is not good in terms of taking a drive to the mall or comic shops are not near us , and because mostly they don't have a wide range of different properties in stock because of money to bring here and no horror stuff would be in kmart or big w for children's sake , in zing they mostly trying to push out cheaper or non-normal shaped big headed figures like funko pops ,
and that makes me ashamed i rarely seen any good stuff that I'm interested or worth getting
some things i wish we had like this Walmart in au
Marvel legends toys are expensive when I was a kid I couldn't get one... I got the crappy movie toys that arms and legs moved one direction and when I did finally get the chance to get one I got the symbiote suit ultimate Spiderman one 😎 I lost it years ago but it was easily my favorite toy besides my lego sets I had
I think Funkos is really lost its way plus with those dumb NFTs it's ruining the authenticity of ownership.
Hasbro will pump out trillions of unwanted figures of some random poopoo nerd no one will buy but then act like making the packages windowless is gonna help (less will buy because no one knows what they are getting with the QC issues)
Marvel Funko has literally never been bigger and it will continue to grow with the mcu just getting started on Disney +
Honestly it was cool but after I seen Coraline the rest just wasn’t that great 😂 what store still sells Coraline! Bruh I’m jealous
Cause you have no idea what’s really in the box. But to be fair, the X-Men legends are peg warmers too.
Pops aren’t dying they just started making wayyyy too many of each pop but tons of people are still getting into collecting them but a lot of collectors agree that they like the limited stuff much more
I still Subscribed 😆 🤣 😂 It's crazy that you didn't explain about how damaged The Neca Figuers
Cool!
Congrats now kids cant afford action figures lmao
You mean their parents can't lol. Kids never could from the beginning.
