Agree with the piles of stuff from previous declutters. Walk past it three times and you no longer "see" it, it just blends into the background.

Oh yeah, it becomes part of the fixtures and fittings. Needs to be moved out asap in my experience.

Eliminating visual clutter really is motivating but sometimes you have to empty and declutter cupboards to store the visual clutter. I’m trying to declutter my kitchen cupboards of things I don’t use so that I can put away the things on my counter that I want and need. It can be a vicious cycle but I do see an end in sight.😊

Visual clutter first! Yes! I get caught up in the smaller stuff which is also good, but it doesn't help my overall feelings about how the house looks. Awesome tip. Also... getting completed donations out of the house quickly! Yes! I've made all the same mistakes you mentioned and am still looking at some of it just lying around. Ughhhh! This stuff is next! Thanks Laura! ❤

Getting it gone is the hardest part for me so I'm thankful for my partner who's a mover and a shaker and likes to get things done. Decluttering isn't his strong suit so we make a good team!

Wow!! That was some encouragement I needed! I have piles that I unfortunately need to go through again just to get them out of house. No more of that! Go through it and get rid of it! Paper is another one I need to go through and just get rid of so it doesn't just sit then get added too with more papers . I'm going to section off areas of house on paper and tackle each one, not get distracted because it's too big and not enough time to complete. If I section areas off correctly I can get each area done in the time I alot for it. Ohhhh I Love how you inspire me!! ❤️❤️😍😍

Girl, L👀K at you with the power washer! The garage looks great!
I'd love to have some help here, but alas, I do not. Still, I have been having successes - minor ones and some not so minor ones (physical limitations and all such nonsense), but I'm happily carrying on. 😂 Your encouragement this morning has not fallen on deaf ears... I know exactly what shelves in the garage I'm going after. ...not even gonna look in the bins because I don't do that craft anymore!
Have a great day! Hugs from the southern California desert, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗

Laura, I think you should put up shelves in your garage just to get the stuff off the floor. You can do it cheaply and it’ll help you keep the floor clean.

Totally agree. I'd suggest wall-monting your bikes to get the tyres off the ground. It prevents damage to the tyres if they're left in one position for a long time.

    • @blaireshoe8738
      @blaireshoe8738 Год назад

@@gingercurlygirl6943 Ooh, wall mounting bikes being able to prevent tire damage is one of those things I never thought of, but makes a lot of sense now that you mention it.. Laura does have a spot to wall-mount bikes which you can see at 8:22 :) Looks like her daughter's bike didn't make it back up at the end, but iirc that's because it was getting daily use at the time of filming (it's a clip from an older video, when it was warmer, I believe). It does have a home for the off season :D

    Get well soon.
Yeah.... *nods*..... So, I had been making good progress..... and getting better at "letting go" of things.... for several months.... and then we had a series of crazy things happen... (like a sewage leak that backed up and flooded our laundry room - 3 times!!!! for example), and a bunch of other crazy things.... so the the things I had set aside to donate.... either got soaked, or moved and mixed in with things I want to keep, and etc.... and I have to start again.... and I felt defeated..... And now we have to have our furnace and AC unit replaced.... which means more chaos and "shoving things anywhere it'll fit, to make room for the people to do their work.... and.... ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!
But I'm determined, to get the clutter and house under control.... ESPECIALLY here in my Creative Studio Room....
It's great when I can find stuff that I can put in a garbage bag... or a recycling bag.... and put it out on Garbage day...but..... when it's something that I want to donate.... it has to wait until I can get help to get it where it needs to go.... (because I don't dare to drive around here, and my husband's always either working, otherwise busy, or he's exhausted and needs a break..... ) .... We're not even sure where to take the variety of things (and that's probably the biggest obstacle ).... Anyway.... the point is, it's exactly as you said.... if it's "donation" it sits in the house, and DOESN'T feel like the progress it should be, because the job doesn't get completed.
But.... I want to improve on that. ..... Somehow.... Thank you for "re-igniting" the flame.... for me to actually get something done around here.

I schedule a charity pick up at my home which gives me a strict timeline. For some reason I struggle with decluttering clothing 🤷‍♀️
Putting my clothes in a bag the night before stops me from going back through and pulling stuff out and they are gone the next day!

I am feeling overwhelmed. I was doing a declutter and I put things into the garage both for donation and for garbage. I should have gotten them out of the house. Now they are under a massive amount of stuff because my house flooded and the emergency response team packed everything up and stacked it to the ceiling, on top of my get rid of pile. So now I have to go through the contents but I will still have the original pile to deal with. Ugh. It will get better and I will have a minimal house moving forward.😅
