Thank you, I bought a floor model Pfaff Powerquilter 16 when a local shop went out of business last year and just learned about ruler work. I am ordering my foot and started templates today!
I use clear Velcro rounds I found at Wal-Mart in sewing section for the backside of my rulers. Only us the stiff side of the Velcro, not the fuzzy side. You can even cut them in half. Works great!
I got Westalee ruler and foot and does the same, am so happy with it, and thank you for this great tutorial, wish I lived closer so I could buy stuff from you!
Thank you very much for the ruler foot demonstration. I intend to use circle rulers I had purchased a while ago rather than purchasing the empty type rulers that others use.
Thanks for info , Leah - I've checked it out. Thanks, but too expensive (plus, shipping to Australia - yikes!). Now have about a dozen rulers, so need to find a cheaper alternative, locally - and will let you know. I enjoy your Crafty classes, youTube vids and Amy's, too!
So, Leah, are you using your Grace frame in this video? I was expecting to see the machine move along the quilt. Are you going to do an updated video to show the updated technique?
Nope, this is a much older video when I had a different longarm set in a table instead. You can find many updated ruler videos here: leahday.com/blogs/machinequilting/frame-quilting-friday-machine-quilting-fun-on-a-longarm
Love your videos! You're so honest about the products and methods you use. Could you please let me know which company makes the sticky tape you use for your rulers (and where to buy it). Thanks for everything you do for us quilters!
+Carol Wood - Great question! The tape is Sew Tacky Technology Tape created by Sew Very Smooth. You can find it here: stores.sewverysmooth.com/sew-tacky-technology-1-25-x-7-5-rubber-strips-2-ea/
These are from the Quilty Box from last year, but I've just released my first set of rulers / cutting templates (they are multifunctional) that are available here: leahday.com/products/dresden-templates
Hi Leah, I've a Janome Horizon 7700, can I use on my machine the foot for use the rulers? And what kind of foot? Where I can buy the foot? Excuse my orrible English. Thank you.
You will need to check with a Janome dealer to find the ruler foot attachment for that machine. They do make a base that you can screw on your QB foot, but you will need to contact a dealer to know the right model to buy.
I love watching all your videos including on Craftsy- i've learned sooo much off you ! What is the model of the Juki machine you have? It looks like a beast lol
+Bev Tooth - It is a beast! It's the Juki 2200 table mounted longarm, though truthfully I'm planning on trading this in soon for a Handiquilter Sweet 16. It seems a better machine with more feet and features than the one I have.
Not for ruler foot quilting like this. You really need a ruler foot so the ruler has a high edge to make contact with so it won't slip under or over the edge of the foot.
+Maria Goumas - I would check out Amy Johnson's website - amysquiltingadventures.com/ She specializes in quilting rulers and is a great resource for learning about this new technique!
+Maria Goumas - Yes, you can get a foot for both of these machines on Amy's site. I believe the F600 needs the low shank and the Juki 2010 needs the high or special shank. Just check the link I shared before and find the foot that works for you!
I'm just getting into quilting with rulers and yours is the 1st video than explains about tension & stitches etc. Excellent video Thanks so much
Awesome! I'm so happy you found this video helpful!

Awesome tutorial!
Thanks for this video. I love it
I love it!! Can use these rulers for Juki 2010???
+Maria Goumas - Yes, but you will need a ruler foot for the machine in order to use them properly.
where to buy the "Ideal quilt Guide" very interesting tool
I love that sewing machine, my old Brother looks pathetic in comparison, by the way it's really old older than me
Leah what type of foot are you using! You are awesome!
I believe this was the ruler foot on that machine. Thank you!
Wonder where I can buy a free motion foot for machine rulers? Yours look great! As always!
These are from the Quilty Box from last year, but I've just released my first set of rulers / cutting templates (they are multifunctional) that are available here: leahday.com/products/dresden-templates
where to buy the ruler-and-pattern budui in your magazine?

can I use all the free motion foot ? because I think that your foot is more thick that mine

thanks you very much
Is that a mid arm machine?
This is a table / sit down longarm machine. Basically it's a longarm that's set up in a table so it works like a home machine. Does that make sense?
Where to buy these rulers?
