There is no doubt that consoles will always have the best price value and give the option for disk media.

    • @ehenningsen
      @ehenningsen 6 месяцев назад +1

@CalebPilarowski-ox9iz true. But hardware-wise, consoles give a great value.
PCs are meant for multipurpose and getting exponentially better fidelity.
Granted, we get some incredible gane sales on PC. I usually don't buy games at less than 40% off and have 500 games in my library right now.
Further, my rtx 4090 with 13900k and 96GB/192GB (swapping in and out for max speed or memory) is something like 8x the processing power of a PS5.
I'm building a new PC with a new motherboard to host a 5090 and either a 15900k (most probable) or 9950x3d.
Theoretical throughput should make this 16x more than a PS5 and god knows how much more with raytracing enabled.
Not everyone wants a monster PC for the highest fidelity graphics. I respect the opinion that it isn't worth it. Cause to many, it simply isn't worth spending $4,000 for this. They can get something that runs 4k/30 or 4k/60 at medium graphics for $500, which already is stunning and has a strong case to save the money for other things.
For me, I work on PCs. I love hardware and software tools as well as high fidelity games. It is my shangri-la, my escape. This isn't the case for everyone.

It's not hurting me to spend $200 more to not have to deal with sourcing parts, searching for discounts, waiting for shipping, putting everything together, dealing with wire management, and all that other bullshit. If you have the time and patience to build a PC and that extra 200-300 really makes a difference in your wallet, then GO FOR IT. The problem isn’t 200 for the same components. The components oems use literally are inferior to standalone components.
The CPUs in a prebuilt are worse binned even if they’re the same chip, the gpus are usually worse cooler designs and they run hotter reducing their life.
The ram is usually not the same frequency nor timing of a customs.
But the worst is the PSU and SSDs. Those are horrible in prebuilts. Always subpar brands with shoddy design and in ssd case, last gen speed with horrible sustained speeds. Yeah they may hit 3000read 2000 write but then they’ll drop to 500 during long file transfers. Meanwhile for the same price my build could have a PCIE 4.0 or 5.0 ssd with the same sustained reads/writes as a prebuilts MAX speed.
When you factor in the actual value of the parts in terms of quality AND raw price, building it becomes significantly better.
Not to mention you learn which parts could cause issues, how to replace faulty parts etc.
LTT has shown how bad warranty support is from major prebuilt companies.
Defending prebuilts when building one is “soooooo easy” as you say, is hilarious. It takes maybe 30 minutes to research and put together the build in Pc part picker. Maybe 1.5 hours for the build if you know what you’re doing.
You say “everyone knows how to do it” but then do the most to explain how hard it is and how you don’t want to do it. Sounds weird to me.

I'm normally the person to let someone else do it if it saves me some time. But I personally find it weirdly therapeutic to work on something then using it. But the biggest deal breaker for me is that Alienware components are not swappable with other standard components. For example, they have proprietary ATX motherboard that will NOT fit into any other case.

@@LuwigChannelmy comment was mainly towards the people who feel the need to say "should've built" whenever they see a pre-built. It's just bogus, the purchase was already made, why make people feel bad about an investment they already made.
NOW that being said I fucking love building gaming rigs. I love picking out the parts, I love doing the research and finding the best price to performance values. I love putting it together and doing wire management. But it's not for everyone, and there's no sense in bashing someone for a purchase they've already made.
If you have a microcenter in the area you'd be foolish not to just go there instead of buying a pre-built. You can hand pick the components and have them put it together same day for $150, but not everyone has access to a MC.
Admittedly Alienware is a pretty bad value and they always have been. You're essentially paying for the name.

      @@RoBin_777_
[TL;DR PS5 cost adds up more overtime, PC can be built from same price as PS5 for arguably more or similar performance while costing the same or possibly lower and or even more expensive.]
Actually it wouldn’t be cheaper than a PC in a 4 year run time.
PS+ Essential the basic on for a year is 80$.
Let’s add that to a new game every month at 70, let’s say you only get the base version each month.
      12 x 70 = 840
      In four years that’s 840 x 4 = 3,360.
      It’s not like games realise every month so let’s tone it down to once every 5 months, 70 x 5 = 350 / 350 x 4 = 1,400.
That’s the price of about 5 games each year. According to to chatGPT the average price of a PS5 is 525 to 425$ (discounting the used marketplace for obvious reasons)
      So 1,400 + 525 = 1,925 / 1,400 + 425 = 1,925, then we can add PlayStation plus yearly plan 1,905 for a ps5 costing 425, and for a ps5 costing 525 is about 2,005.
In conclusion there can be many other factors that influence money spent like how many games you buy, how many controllers you buy, micro transactions, and other things like that.
In my opinion I would go with the PC although more pricey upfront it is better for my personal experience due to me having a tech related profession.
But the PS5 would be a great financial decision at first but would easily add up over the years but is less likely to be noticeable due to the ideal of returning income from jobs etc.
Plus you can build a computer from anywhere from the same price as the PS5 and possibly lower depending on deals you can find to extremely way expensive prices.

    • @AaronWOfficial
      @AaronWOfficial 4 месяца назад +1

@@RoBin_777_ PS+ premium = £220 per year. Life cycle of console = 7 years. 7 x £220 = £1540. For £1400 I got an RTX 4070 Super, 32 gb DDR 4 3200mhz ram, i5-13600k, aio liquid cooler for cpu, 1tb NVME storage. So I already paid less than the console & ps+ premium you paid for combined before either of us even bought a game and have an extra £140 left over from what you spent to buy games XD. PC games are cheaper as well, and the sales are better. PC has game pass also, which destroys ps+ premium.
I can play native 4k max settings on every game, no upscaling at all and run at high framerates. Your ps5 can't do native 4k, its all upscaled and runs at 30 fps or you have to lower visuals to try and get 60 fps with performance mode. Console is a rip-off, even just using ps+ essential with the higher prices of games and less impressive sales discounts it still works out costing more than pc gaming.

But you cant expect to run max settings and native resolution, so you are stuck using quality, or performance mode, which looks a good bit worse than native, and you will be stuck in the 50 fps range, even lower on high difficulty settings due to the number of enemies. PS5 possibly has slightly better frame pacing and stays between 52-60fps, and my PC on 1440p high settings usually stays at around 65fps with dips to 45 in worst case scenarios.

As a PC gamer I will never ever ever play a shooter with controller again. The ps5 controller is the best controller I'll agree to that but NOTHING beats the precision you get with mouse and keyboard and I regularly smack console players around on games with crossplay. I tried for YEARS to get good on controller when I was a console player and my K/Ds were so bad my friends wouldn't play with me. Now I can keep up, switching to PC made me so much better at multiplayer games its not even funny. The keyboard controls take some time for sure, circle strafing takes a lot more skill on a keyboard since you can't just use one thumb to spin circles. Any game that isn't a shooter or menu heavy is better with a controller. Like Dark Souls or hack and slash games. But when shooting is involved nothing beats a mouse, gamers that do better with a controller just know how to exploit aim assist, which is quite aggregious in certain games like Modern Slop of Duty.
As a sidenote I know MW2 and 3 are heavily criticized and it's not much of a gamer flex to say they are my most played multiplayer games, but I mainly play them because I consistently score in the top 3 90% of the matches I play until I find lobbies full of campers and dirty tactics. I only play hardcore too, because with mouse I'm generally quicker to hit first unless flanked or double teamed. But I can swipe a line and kill 3 people in 1 second. It's a lot harder for console players to find a sensitivity for their analogues that matches the speed capable with a mouse. It's the difference in aiming with just a thumb vs your whole hand and wrist.
