      there is a way to rectify this. the pre yavin a wings could have been an earlier model than the ones used at Endor.this could be following the same concept. we see the earlier a-wing with phoenix squadron and other "diplomatic" groups. we also see in rebels that y wings were stolen from scrap yards and other such facilities.

    I think it's a combination of stealing ships, buying them from the black market, buying them from friendly planets that aren't fully under the control of the empire, or buying them under disguise (like Bail Organa buying some ships for Alderaan, then giving them to the rebel alliance). I also assume they have some level of industrial capability, considering many worlds in the outer rim aren't under the control of the galactic republic, and they could also go to scrapyards and refurbish some old ships.

      Given the Executor and other Star Dreadnoughts (SSD) are around 19km in length, it would be like an asteroid hitting the earth surface, as well the detonation of the ships solar ion reactors and munitions stores, it would probably cause an near extension level event, and quite possibly alter the planet's gravitational axis, either is very, very bad or at the very least plunge our little mud ball into a nuclear winter for several decades and release tons of radioactive material into out atmosphere.

    • @maxjones503
      @maxjones503 7 лет назад

      It would destroy everything. The only reason it didn't with the Death Star II was due to the advanced and heavy shields.

    • @brothersbricksproductions1117
      @brothersbricksproductions1117 7 лет назад +4

      It would be like the Ravager (The last Super star destroyer) in the battle of Jakku, Jakku wasn't destroyed, it all depends on the way it crashed.
      Nose first: Well if it crashed in Africa then about half the continent would be screwed, but if it crashed belly first into the ground only a approximate radius of 100 kms around the crash point would be destroyed
      If it crashed into the ocean then just imagine the worlds biggest tsunami and times it by two-four

    • @angrybird7324
      @angrybird7324 7 лет назад +6

      You guys are so clueless it hurts my brain. The mass of a star destroyer is alot smaller than an asteroid and by FAR. It would probably feel like a nuclear bomb was dropped when it crashes but that's all. If it would crash on japan, for example, people in europe, america etc wouldnt feel anything. Don't forget that it wouldnt crash as fast as an asteroid... except if you mean crashing on earth while being at the speed of light, then earth would become an asteroid belt lol.

      It's the R-22 Spearhead, It was around for a while before Battle of Yavin (BoY) and (apparently) got nicknamed the A wing by some pilots, the Rebels decided they needed a faster fighter so they (in Disney canon) modified the R-22 design and gave it the designation of A-Wing. I say Disney just liked the design and wanted to use it in Rebels to differentiate them from the Rebels who used the X and Y-wings.

    In SW: Empire at War it is said that the rebels stole the X-Wings from Fresia, and before of that they have been using Z-95s.
    In Rebels we don't know how the rebels got the X-Wings, but we know that A-Wings were used before of them.
    EDIT: so we can assume that Cpt. Antilles was leading an A-Wing squadron instead of piloting the sundered heart when he attacked the Kuat shipyards

    My favourite rebel ship is the DP-20 Gunship. I mean, it's smaller, faster, more maneuverable en better armed than the CR90.
    Also, the Y-Wing. It is the perfect combination of Fighter and Bomber that you need in a guerrilla.
    If I am a rebel officer and I have to raid an imperial ground base protected by one ISD and some light cruisers, my fleet would be:
    1x Nebulon-B Frigate, as command ship
    2x DP-20 Gunships, as artillery and picket ships
    15x Y-Wing Bombers, To carry bombing runs on the ISD with ion torpedoes
    5x A-Wing Fighters, to engage imperial fighters and Ghazanti Cruisers
    2x GR-75 Transports, to raid the imperial base

    Star Wars Rebels is Canon, Phoenix squadrons main fighter is the A-Wing, they existed before the Battle of Yavin. Phoenix squadron also tested the B-Wing Prototype, and was involved in stealing Y-Wings that eventually became parts of Gold and Green Squadrons (that were seen at Scarif and Yavin). We have yet seen them acquire X-Wings but the Season 4 trailer shows Hera leading an X-Wing squadron so they will get them.

    I always liked the Z-95 Headhunter and Not just because of the name alone. It hit harder flew faster and was cooler looking then the X-wing. the only drawback was It didn't have jump capability like the X-wing. But the years in service and ease of flight and maintenance, makes it a very valuable ship for anyone who owns them.

    I still can't get past how a rebellion is able to get fighters which are extremely more powerful (and certainly expensive) than their imperial counterparts and still manage to have them in decent numbers

      It comes down to tactics, every fighter lost was a huge blow to the rebels so they needed to preserve them.

    You know that the Tantive 4 isn't the only ship of that kind they used, there were a ton of corvette class cruisers. You also left out a lot of ships, even if your just doing the most popular ships science there are a lot, you missed a ton.

      How does it not make sense. Seeing as the entire squadron just got wiped out, explains why they have none at Scariff or Yavin IV in ANH. So easily they can build new ones after BoY and legends can continue if they so choose.

    My favourite Star Wars ship is definitely the X- Wing. I mean, they are fast, durable and far more agile than a TIE fighter. If I had the chance to be a fighter pilot, the X- Wing would undoubtedly be my fighter if choice.

    Same place the Empire did. The Alliance and the Empire were, prior to Alderaan, basically the same thing. The Alliance was the Senate trying to end Sidious' dictatorship and the Empire was Sidious' New Order. They all ruled the same planets, owned and shopped at the same businesses and used the same shipyards (the X-Wing for example was an Imperial design that lost out to the cheaper TIE). After Alderaan there was a genuine split/war on the scale of the CIS but that didn't change any of the tech.

    Canon: There's never any confirmation how many Y-Wings the Rebellion had, and at least some of them were "liberated" from an Imperial station where they were being dismantled for scrap. (Rebels S3, ep1) It's possible that was their entire compliment of Y-Wings.
    Given the state of them at that station, it's possible they never had the outer hulls to reattach anyway. (And why would they leave off part of the freaking armor?)

    • @maxjones503
      @maxjones503 7 лет назад +1

      That single raid wasn't their entire compliment obviously, they only ended up getting something like six, I think, yet many were destroyed later in the season or at Scarif, and there were still 8 at Yavin, along with presumably hundreds more used later (only one Y-Wing survived). I imagine partially it was from other scrapping stations, but they also explained most of your inquiries in the video.

    What does speed and weight mean in orbital combat? There is no atmosphere and limited gravity so the considerations are acceleration, maneuverability, piloting control and targeting systems. If you're firing plasma you'd think that combat would occur at (literally) astronomical distances.
