If you want to take it to the actual next level, put a brick on top of the sandwich after assembly. Or another pan. The weight slightly smushes the bread and you get an insane toast

It is but you have to shred it yourself. The packaged pre shredded cheese comes coated in a powder to prevent it from clumping and it makes it really hard to melt.
Everyone says bagged confetti is bad for grilled cheeses but I use it all the time in grilled cheese and in quesadilla. The only thing is, you have to be careful to not flip it over too soon or all the confetti will fall out
I will say, I worked with a guy who liked his grilled cheeses with shredded Asiago and crispy bacon, so when me and my bf would make it (we actually liked him compared to everyone else) we'd cook it open face in the oven so the cheese would melt fully then finish it on the grill. Shredded cheese (confetti) does grill well, but you have to be careful placing it on the bread. I’ll have to try ketchup on the inside because I usually dip my grilled cheeses in ketchup afterwards.
Pre-shredded cheese has a a lot of extra cellulose added to it as an anti-caking agent. It's not bad for you but it makes your grilled cheese/nachos/whatever gummier. So if you want the best results, shred the cheese yourself from a block.
Just so ya’ll know there is a way to upgrade ANY grilled cheese no matter how you make it. This should be done as soon as your grilled cheese is finished as it is a very quick process - get a small, nonstick pan to a very high temperature (not screaming hot, but hot) - take Parmesan cheese, preferably freshly, and thinly sliced/shredded and add it to the pan in approximately the shape of one of your bread slices - this should be a somewhat thin layer but enough so that there are minimal holes in the now melting cheese - place your finished grilled cheese on top and toast for anywhere between 20 seconds to 1 and a half minutes depending on how brown your cheese was before you put in the sandwich - remove from the pan and enjoy a crispy Parmesan cracker on your upgraded grilled cheese

Alright, listen up, I’m gonna throw my 2cents in because I don’t think they’re using anywhere near enough ingredients First, you’re gonna go down to the deli and get steak shavings, something you’d use in a Philly cheese steak or the like, onions if you like, spices of your choice, whatever you like for this. Brown those in a pan. You want a mixture of cheeses, whichever ‘three cheese’ combo you like, but ones that cook at the same temp so you don’t get bad texture at the end, put also Parmesan And you want tomatoes and whatever bread you prefer for grilling, preferably large slices. Place the cheeses on one bread slice, layer the fried meat (with spices and onion) on top, then some tomato slices, then the Parmesan and a second bread slice. Grill on the cheese side, flip to the Parmesan side briefly. And whatever you think will keep the bread crispy on the outside too
as an english person i have absolutely no idea what Siobhan's talking about I've never met somebody who's made THAT and called it a cheese toastie 😭 it's just like. butter the outside of each slice of bread, put cheese in the middle and put it in a george forman grill! Unless you wanna add extra to it, I always added jalapenos to mine and lately have been trying them with rose harissa instead of butter too. 100% recommend using rose harissa
A toastie & a grilled cheese are almost the same thing, I call it a toastie if it’s done in one of those sandwich presses & a grilled one if I do it in a pan. Rose harissa is delicious! I also recommend Gochujang
I was more shocked at that too. Having a dedicated toastie maker is great, as it seals in the ingredients, but I also just use the Forman grill too (I can use that for other things unlike the toastie maker).

Alright, listen up, I’m gonna throw my 2cents in because I don’t think they’re using anywhere near enough ingredients
First, you’re gonna go down to the deli and get steak shavings, something you’d use in a Philly cheese steak or the like, onions if you like, spices of your choice, whatever you like for this. Brown those in a pan. You want a mixture of cheeses, whichever ‘three cheese’ combo you like, but ones that cook at the same temp so you don’t get bad texture at the end, put also Parmesan And you want tomatoes and whatever bread you prefer for grilling, preferably large slices.
Place the cheeses on one bread slice, layer the fried meat (with spices and onion) on top, then some tomato slices, then the Parmesan and a second bread slice. Grill on the cheese side, flip to the Parmesan side briefly. And whatever you think will keep the bread crispy on the outside too

as an english person i have absolutely no idea what Siobhan's talking about I've never met somebody who's made THAT and called it a cheese toastie 😭 it's just like. butter the outside of each slice of bread, put cheese in the middle and put it in a george forman grill!
Unless you wanna add extra to it, I always added jalapenos to mine and lately have been trying them with rose harissa instead of butter too. 100% recommend using rose harissa
A toastie & a grilled cheese are almost the same thing, I call it a toastie if it’s done in one of those sandwich presses & a grilled one if I do it in a pan.
Rose harissa is delicious! I also recommend Gochujang

I was more shocked at that too. Having a dedicated toastie maker is great, as it seals in the ingredients, but I also just use the Forman grill too (I can use that for other things unlike the toastie maker).
