That was awesome steve, the scenery on top the mountain was fantastic, the hike was worth it and you learn alot along the way. I really liked the night view with the display of the 3 men carved out in the mountain and the fireworks. By the way, the music selected for this whole video was awesome and cool. Keep more videos like these coming along with your flight vlogs.
That's awesome man! I live in Atlanta and love the outdoors. Stone Mountain is one of my favorite spots! I wish I'd known that you were there. I would love to have met you! Keep up the great work!
It is nice to stay connected with the land, but then it's nice to leave it all behind. Good exercise, and somewhat fresh air, makes excellent preparation for flight .. Well done..!
Stone Mountain is the largest piece of contiguous granite on the planet. Only a small portion is what you see above ground. Fun Pilot Fact: it is so huge it actually causes a disturbance in the earths magnetic field. If you look at a VFR chart it will note a 10 degree deviation in the magnetic compass in the vicinity of the mountain. Local pilots refer to it as the Stone Mountain VOR (visual orientation rock).
+steveo1kinevo ah man! You were in my area! Come up to Mt. Airy, NC (KMWK) next time. You can see the home of Andy Griffith and the famous Mt. pilot as they call it on the show. We call it Pilot Mountain. Anyway glad you enjoyed your visit to NC.
Completely false; that's a myth propagated decades ago by early park administration as a marketing tool to get more visitors. It's been debunked numerous times and a quick search will show you that it's established as a myth by the state of Georgia, National Park Service, and the USGS. It's not even close to the largest deposit in the US. There are over a hundred larger deposits (both exposed and subterranean) in the Sierra Nevadas alone, and a more isolated and much larger example is the entire Black Hills outcrop in South Dakota. Not trying to pee in your Cheerios but truth is truth.
Great episode. 1. Stone mountain is fantastic for hiking, etc. Nice laser show. My son and I avoided the main trail on our last visit and went off to the sides until we get near the top. There you will find some small trails where others got the same idea, but it is not as crowded. While I watch your channel for the aviation and commentary you provide, I dig it when you take us around the areas you fly in to sometimes. 2. Just had my schedule change and I will be at Sun n Fun this weekend. Hope to see you and the other RUclipsrs there. Thanks for the video!
This was by far in my opinion your best video! I have been to Stone Mountain only one time and you showed me show much about a wonderful landmark. You videos are even better when you are on the ground!
Hi Steve, I'm 25 years old and I'm a flight passionate. I discovered your channel yesterday. I really like your videos, they are interesting technically speaking great landscapes, great video editing. Thanks for all the great videos you uploaded! Greeatings from Italy!
Awesome video Steve, I don't travel much, or at all actually.... health reasons and affordability issues, but I enjoy seeing other's travels. Thanks for taking us along.
I went there one time! On hike back down the mountain I was checking my fitness app and twisted my ankle really bad and my brother had to carry me back to the car. Good times! Great video, Steve. Love the drone shots!
So cool !! Thank you Steve you Made me travel this morning ! I was planning to go meet you guys in Lakeland for the sun and fun with my cessna c310 from Montreal Canada but unfortunatly work got me so ...next year ! Keep your good work ...
Steve, great video! I've been watching and following for sometime now to help fill the void that being too broke to flight train creates. I really enjoy your channel! I live in Miami also and it's always cool to see the local scenery in your vlogs. This vlog in particular was special for me because I have family that lives in Stone Mountain and spent tons of time there during my summers growing up. The laser show was always a highlight and I haven't seen it in YEARS. The video brought back some great memories. Thanks man. Keep up the great work!
steveo1kinevo. talked to Mr. Earl today. He was blown away and totally surprised. He said he remembered the day. Steveo1kinevo, you enjoy and keep posting videos. The world loves them. safe travels....
That was great! I live 2-1/2 miles from Stone Mountain and I have walked all the places you did many times. I really liked your vid! And then the Drone! Thanks
Nature is awesome! I always hike and take nature/bird photographs or try to get airplanes and look them up online. I like both birds and airplanes! Flying a plane would be awesome! I only flew commercial and on flight sim x! lol. I think your vids are great! keep posting!
I grew up not far from there and still live pretty close. I miss the old days of the mountain when it was more wilderness but can appreciate the changes Silver Dollar City brought when they took over management too.
Steve, great video and love the fact that you like birds and nature. I love watching your videos and love aviation but am afraid to fly.I live next to Ohare and spend a lot of time photographing the planes. I guess i am missing out on all the lovely locations that the world has to offer so i guess i will just have to keep on driving!
Another awesome video. Steve! Well done! I see you got that drone you talked about. Nice flying and wonderful composition. Thanks for another installment. Hope you are enjoying Fun in Sun! You should check out the new PAL-V. Would be interested to hear your comments on that new "flying car"!
Keep them coming Steve. Sorry I did not have a chance to meet you in person. I met Jason of MzeroA and his lovely wife and kid at the show on Friday and I had to leave MCO for LGA on Friday. maybe next airshow. wow 17800 steps.
Nice video. Makes me wanna go hiking again. Looks like we have at least a few things in common. I don't like the overcrowded places neither. Solitude is something valuable. And as I can see, springtime in Georgia is as beautifull as it is here in Hamburg. :-D Enjoy!
It's amazing Steve how many pilots are afraid of heights! When my wife and I went to Vegas many years ago we went up to the top of the Stratosphere. It was very difficult to stand at the edge. If I stand farther back I'm usually ok. Weird how I'm fine at 40,000ft flying a jet, but a tall man made structure.......
Very nice video about Stone Mountain. I think your drone use here and your other productions warrants its own video. I'd like to see a short on how you make your videos. I've been to Stone Mountain countless times. Highly recommend.
I'm not quite sure what it is but some vloggers have "it" and some don't. You have it. Great vlog. Sorry won't see you at Sun 'n Fun. Have a good time.
Hey @steveo1Kinevo saw N161TB over at Atlantic at PDK yesterday while I was doing a XC training for my commercial rating, I am a big fan of your videos and I had to take a second look to make sure it was your TBM, you must have brought all the good weather with you, enjoy the big ATL and safe landings
I used to fly out of Stone Mountain Airport for decades until they closed it in 1996. They never developed the land and still let an R/C club use the south end. For giggles, I landed my helicopter at the north end a couple of years ago. It was neat experiencing that approach again.
Glad to see you in the area (I'm at D73) and you picked a perfect weekend. Typically you can only make out 3-4 of the tallest buildings in downtown, though I have seen Stone Mountain just after take off from KAHN. You should have thrown in a few seconds of what it looks like from the air as you're on approach. Are you taking your people to the Masters? I'd love to see a video about that. If you have some time, come into KWDR and hit up Ft. Yargo for some good hiking, biking, and kayaking. Safe Flights!
Years ago, early 1990's, there was a little airport at Stone Mountain (00A). You could land there make the hike have a bite of lunch and be home for dinner. What memoeies you bring back...
Had a great view of Stone Mountain from the air. Did a lap around it, then went in to Gwinett Co airport for lunch at the Flying Machine, then back to Augusta. An awesome $100 hamburger run.
10:12 I always wanted to be a pilot ever since I was 4 or 5 and saw them on my little cartoons, I had a toy plane and I played with it all day, but I always thought, "I would love to fly, but I am scared of heights!" so I gave up on that dream and a few years later I got to fly in a plane and I just completely forgot about heights and it was really fun, I will never forget that day. Now I am about to take my first flight lesson, I can't wait! XD
What a beautiful place! Great video.

Best aviation videos online showing pilots how to explore with the gift we have to fly.
Hey, thank you for bringing us along. I don't to fly nearly as much as I'd like and you help fill in the gaps.
Great vid Steve. Just the kind of thing this 52 year old needs for motivation to get into this"Pilot life"!
Very enjoyable, thanks Steve for another good one. Keep them coming.
I live in Georgia so it's cool to see one of my favorite youtubers exploring a landmark that I grew up seeing. Nice job!
It is nice to stay connected with the land, but then it's nice to leave it all behind. Good exercise, and somewhat fresh air, makes excellent preparation for flight .. Well done..!

Steveo on top of the rock! Yea buddy!
Very nicely done. Thanks for the great content.
Wow Steve - I'm glad you decided to do the "out of the cockpit" VLOGs as well. After all, one of the greatest side effects of flying: getting places.
I like your style bro. Low energy yet entertaining.
Been there before 6 years ago very awesome place! The sky lift is fun too it's a great view from up top
Excellent video Steve. Love your video work, very professional! Hello from Scotland. John M:)

Quick question, how far in advance do u know when you will have a long layover? Steveo, love your vids and your story man. Keep it up
Great video man! The bridge at 3:40 looks like the one in Lawless at the end of the film!
Amazing footage my friend
