It looks like the Nepali tourist authorities have created more "tourist friendly" paths where before they were poorly maintained, so perhaps the old path markings you've seen are confusing.
Every child thinks foreigner are extra Rich so they ask for money..... Instead of giving money You can give them chocolate that only cost 1 rupees(2cents) it will make their day and yours too
