Hello. May we have a link to the next video? Your videos are always fantastic, but always lead to "the next video" but I can never find "the next video." Thank you.
As much as I try, I can't get that kind of distorted tone. I'm missing some basic stuff for sure. I'm using a Line6 HX Stomp connected to the effects loop of a Vox AV30.
Hey Bluepixel, wish I could help but I've not used a HX Stomp before. We'll hopefully soon get a few more rigs to do a wider variety of tones videos. For now, all my sounds come from a Kemper Profiler which has been life changing for my tone.
Bro I have a question. While playing A E B C#m in every 4 counts am I should fall specifically on the chord that the rhythm plays? Like A E B C#m I'm newbie. Thanks
Hey Kevin, for any chord you typically have 3 chord tones. So you can play any of those 3 chord tones. A = A C# E E = E G# B B = B D# F# C#m = C#m E G# So pay attention to the chord changes in the progression and then when you want to rest on a note, check the chord at the time and then play any of those three notes. Hope this helps!
There are a lot of elements involved in good worship guitar tone, but one critical piece is reverb. Reverb adds that sort of "huge but far away" aspect to your sound. Delay is also important. Which pickup is selected (middle and neck pickups have a more blunted tone than bridge pickups. Also, the type of amp or amp simulator you're using also makes a big difference. But in general, gentle amount of overdrive (NOT distortion), generous amount of reverb, some delay, maybe some EQ to get rid of harsh frequencies gets you to 90% of most worship guitar tones.
Another option is to use a drive pedal with asymmetrical clipping (soft clipping like a Tubescreamer). You can add a lot of gain, but played through the neck pick up, you still get a very smooth tone. That plus delay and reverb in moderation will give you a nice lead tone. A LOT of P&W guys stack multiple drives, and that can end up being pretty high gain. Those super full leads have more gain than you might expect for “church” music.

Worship GuitarSkills thanks man
How do you dial that soft rock tone in your amp for worship? What's the secret sauce to removing the aggressiveness of gain/distortion?

I'll do a breakdown of my tone soon.
