That Hamilton Khaki was made on purpose for the movie Interstellar. It became so popular that Hamilton made it commercially available calling it Khaki Field Murph, like the character Murph from the movie, Matthew McConaughey's character's daughter that saved mankind. Awesome simple beautiful watch.

I'm sure there's someone already based in LA with a huge watch collection doing exactly that and renting the watches out for movies. It's just for most films it's not that important to most people so the writers and studios don't care.
Most films will have multiple of the same prop. Especially if it's destroyed. They'll have a destroyed version and clean version so they can rerecord scenes when they need to
The non production model calatrava the driver is wearing in “drive” is a custom piece for the movie. Around 3 pieces were made for the sake of filming. The driver has to stop time periods of exactly 5 minutes, because that’s the time frame he gives his clients to return to the car. He easily could do that with a racing chronograph etc but chooses to do that with the stop seconds function because the watch is meant to hint at his character. It clearly is meant to be a family heirloom piece with great value for him and is being used as a plot device multiple times. It’s by far the most intimate thing we even get to know about the whole character. So not a fake watch but a custom piece specially made for the movie which is awesome by the way.
Great video, if your interested the Dr Strange JLC was made just for the movie as it had an inscription on the back of it and the normal model has an open case sapphire back….. they then had to smash the watch up to make it look like it was in the car crash he had in the film.
I'm not afraid to admit that Nico pulled me into the watch game. Bought my first automatic watch and have my eyes on another one. Ditched the Apple Watch and haven't missed it one minute.
Hey Nico, you wanna know something cool about that Hamilton Murph? On the seconds hand, it has morse code for the word Eureka, which proves time travel works in the film!
I just recently got into watches. I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to start watching RUclips channels on watches. But I have to say so far all of the channels I've found every single guy and girl are ALL really chill, down to earth and really informative and honest. I was expecting shit posting about cheap watches like g-shock etc. But all of you literally talk about the strengths and weaknesses of all brands cheap and expensive. I'm SO glad I got into this hobby. And Nico of course if my favorite!!
Lucy in the sky, Money Monster, American Psycho, Apollo 13, Dr No, Top Gun, Blood Diamond, Casino Royale, The Expandables 1, Argo, Kingsman (2014), Dunkirk, Le Mans (1971), Pulp Fiction, Goldeneye and Speed. That should be a good enough list to cover a wide range of watches.
Glenngarry Glen Ross was made in 1992. There is nothing in the movie that suggest that it is set in the late 1960's. In fact, Alec Baldwin drives a modern BMW with a flashing alarm system to office to give his famous speech.
"You drove a Hyundai to get here. I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's who I am." Hyundai wasn't sold in the US until 1986. The BMW was a 1992 850. So the film takes place in the early 1990s.
That JLC perpetual is a big step up from the Rotary that Cumberbatch wore as Sherlock. Hamilton made two watches specifically for Interstellar, that field watch and an aviation watch; both are somewhat oversized for today's tastes, but appear better on camera I guess. In Men in Black, Agent J (Tommy Lee Jones) is a big Elvis fan, and so wears a black dial Hamilton Ventura.
In a final scene of X-Men: Dark Phoenix Charles Xavier is meeting with Magneto at a cafe, while wearing Rolex Milgauss. I mean what else would you wear while meeting a living magnet! :D
Yo my man's like a walking talking watch dictionary @nicoleonard your passion for watches speaks volume mate I watched your videos and started collecting myself cheers mate

I’m certain that the watch winder in the first clip wouldn’t wind the watches. It would need to be at least slightly off horizontal, otherwise how’s gravity meant to pull the weight down
@@turnbasedtoddy7664 it needs an angle for gravity to pull the weight “down”. If it’s horizontal, there’s no down. “Down” is different as the watch moves, the weight then spins, which winds the watch. It COULD work horizontally if you aggressively span it, then stopped it spinning, that would turn the weight.

Glengarry Glenn Ross (the film rather than the play) is set in the year it was made. If you look over Baldwin’s left shoulder at the very start of his speech you see two pictures on the notice board. One of the Cadillac Eldorado and one of the steak knives. The Eldorado in the picture is a 12th generation, which came out in 1992.

The play was written 82/83 and it’s set at the same time. The movie works as anything from then to 91/92. Certainly nothing about it is 60’s.
"You drove a Hyundai to get here. I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's who I am." Hyundai wasn't sold in the US until 1986. The BMW was a 1992 850. So the film takes place in the early 1990s.
