Past Eggman hears Modern Eggman seeing a door. When Past Eggman becomes Modern Eggman, he remembers him telling him he saw a door, so remembers it as if it was the alternate version of Eggman saying it.

I didn't think Eggman captured Eggman; I saw it as it was the same Eggman as Generations, but he was just putting on an act to make Sonic and co think he wasn't the cause for the Time Eater attacking. The thought of there being a 3rd Eggman never crossed my mind.

I think Mania is what happend after Sonic Generations for classic Sonic, since Robotnik goes back woth different FUTURE plans and Tails is there too. Maybe at the end we see a portal open up for Sonic to jump in and then it leads to Sonic Forces
i had the same idea except it was the end of the classic timeline (but before Sonic pocket adventure) and then he would get sucked into the portal and at the end of the game we see that same portal and he jumps in it (kinda like to Sonic generations) and then Sonic pocket adventure would happen and lead into sonic adventure
Actually that is the case in sonic Manias true ending after super sonic beats the hard boiled heavys and egg man the time stone from angle island act 1 from Sonic 3 and knuckles creates a rift to sonic forces witch is a different dimension from Sonic Mania witch is sposidly after the mega drive discontinued comic. Whew that was a lot of information.

One of my theories: If there was a door for Eggman and Robotnik, it could be to Doctor Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine as the only current game with his name in the title. Even though mean bean machine may be set in an alternative dimension, specifically the AoSth dimension, this would explain how both versions of Eggman learn about the multi-verse and dimensional travel. This then leads to Eggman and Robotnik on their quest to find the phantom ruby, leading to the events of Mania and Forces respectively.
That whole part with Eggman getting captured by the Time Eater after you trash the Egg Dragoon, I just thought it was Robotnik in the Time Eater catching his future self due to his instructions.
A 3rd Eggman I didn't think of. But if there really is no way out of Limbo then I guess a 3rd Eggman would be needed just in case Generations Eggman and Robotnik did lose. I guess after the countless failures Generation's Eggman swallowed his pride and thought of something just in case he did lose, that's probably one of the more smarter things he's done
or, the future eggman and robotnik from after they escaped the limbo, saves eggman and robotnik from the limbo (with the chaos emeralds or something, idk). then, the future them tells the past versions of themselves to save the past versions of themselves to save them. this creates an infinite loop where they save themselves from limbo so they can save themselves from limbo so they can save themselves from limbo and it just continues like that.

While possible you just created two paradoxes there:
1) Bootstrap - The creation of new information though the use of time travel.
2) Unstable recursion - The refusal to go though with an obligation you must do to keep the recursive loop stable.
If for some reason eggman refused to free his past self it would collapse the whole recursive loops of those who did thus returning them back to being stuck. Not to mention the plan to go back in time and free them would be create information which would have no clear originating point once they endlessly tell themselves their plan. That being said if they did not violate the second one then there will be no issues.

I believe the reason Time Eater kidnapped modern Eggman was to keep up an act. Think of Classic's reaction. He was terrified when Time Eater took him from the wreckage of the Death Egg Robot. He wasn't aware it was his future self. When you defeat the Egg Dragoon (Which creates a time paradox, as it doesn't fall into the core, thus not awakening Dark Gaia.) Eggman shows no reaction to Classic Sonic and Classic Tails. He also says "I was supposed to beat you this time!" as if he'd experienced this loss before. He also shows no reaction when the Time Eater (whom I believe is being controlled by Classic Eggman at this point in time) swoops in to "kidnap" modern Eggman, as a way of keeping Time Eater's controllers identity a secret.

Ok BOTTOM LINE IS: they either did or did not escape the white void and if they didn't escape the white void, then they definitely died there since there's no food or drink or anything like that!!!!
That is literally mind blowing. I am not joking. Eggman telling his unleashed counterpart to not recreate the events of generations? That is so cool. And really amazing if you think about it.
My only problem with what you said is that Sonic doesnt remember Generations. He directly references it in forces which implies he remembers going through those events

Late but in Forces Tails says to Classic Sonic "Oh, so you're that Sonic from another dimension", he remembers the events of Generations and somehow escaped the white limbo

Well, I think Sonic remembers the events of generations. Because in Forces, when Classic Sonic comes back Sonic says “It’s been generations since I’ve seen you.” Implying that Sonic does remember the events of Generations.

there is something i'd like to know though. Since current eggman is kidnapping unleashed eggman then why doesn't unleashed eggman (assuming it's him) notice that the modern sonic he is facing in the generations egg dragoon boss fight isn't the one from unleashed? Unleashed eggman should know that sonic changes forms at night to the werehog, and yes i know that you can't tell the diference while looking at eggmanland's sky since is covered in red clouds, but eggman shouldn't know which form sonic was in when he reached eggmanland, and yes i can accept that he, at least supposedly, faced him a few minutes ago during the tornado defense stage and could check which form he was in, but unless looking at cameras in some security room or whatever, he shouldn't know if sonic will or won't change forms as he gets to the temple at eggmanland's core. And an important plus is that when you win the generations boss fight eggman says that he should have defeated sonic THIS TIME implying that he already fought sonic one with the egg dragoon. I'm sorry if it sounds offensive. I like your theory nonetheless
but how does eggman know that? Because he didn't nor he wouldn't design that, especially to help sonic, and theoretically you can do the same thing on every entrance stage or stage hub since they're the same hourglasses, that would imply that eggman puts the hourglasses on the entrance stages without ant purpose
good point although way back in time you could say that "he did"(remove the rings), on the death egg finale on sonic 2 there ain't a single ring. Point apart, I respect your theory but then what eggman is the one you defeat on generations egg dragoon? because he says that he (eggman) should have won THIS time

Sonic does remember the events from generations as shown in forces, both tails and sonic recognise classic, now called "sonic from another dimension", both eggman's escape the timeless limbo, and robotnik doesn't ever go through with his generations plan, and classic sonic doesn't follow the actions of modern sonic, instead eggman stumbles across the Phantom Ruby and has created the hard boiled heavies, examples of things current eggman didn't ever do, current eggman found the Phantom Ruby in his own timeline much later, so generations did indeed create an alternate timeline for classic sonic and eggman, yet it is indeed the same sonics and eggmans, and they all do remember the events of generations

Robonick forgot about the plan and made a self note about it, so he would have never been kidnaed because eggman wouldn't have used time eater to do so

What if Eggman met Infinite in the limbo.
It would make sense since in the demo of Sonic Forces, Eggman says,"Your just a pint-sized Sonic from a different dimension" to classic Sonic.
I would guess each different timeline is a "dimension" and if that's true, Infinite is there.
Infinite very well could be the resevua of Time-Eaters power that explodes at the last bit of Sonic Generations.
But that's just a theory...

Actually, Eggman recruited Infinite & the Jackal Squad to defeat Shadow 1 month prior to Forces, as seen in Episode Shadow. Infinite lost to Shadow & Baldy Nosehair gave him the Phantom Ruby, and Infinite destroys Metropolis... But nice idea tho.

I had a theory myself. ( still believe in )
Both Eggman and robonick were saved by metal Sonic from the current timeline in Sonic Unleashed.
As we know, Eggman likes to upgrade metal Sonic with new tactics and abilities often. It could be possible Eggman implanted Metal Sonic with a engine strong enough to travel through space, and time can't exist without space right? So upon noticing Eggman hasn't returned, Metal was tracking Eggman down and eventually pinpointed his location and tracked him down.
That or he got the Information from sonic and tails, and went on from there.
Um if he had that ability he would have deployed that version of metal sonic

When the Time Eater Picked up modern Egg Man isn't he just picking him up after he lost, kind of like he rescuing Egg Man after his defeat. In more detail if Egg Man lost he would want the time Eater to Pick him up. One more thing Egg Man didn't yell like Robotnik did so he probably knew what was going on.

Not possible. Eggman said "Our most recent setback" and proceeds to show Eggman in space encountering the time eater, which is directly after Sonic Colours. If anything, Sonic Lost World would be set before Colours (but that wouldn't make sense, since Lost World has Wisps and Colours is the first time he encounters them...)
Lost World is actually a prequel to colors and also a prequel for Generations

Well my theory is that Eggman just used his speed to break the fabric of reality and made him self an exit.
(Also in my head canon did this event caused a distortion in space and time that moved the Lost Hex from its natural dimension (the spezial stage) into the one sonic lives in.(Because really the lost hex is out side of the spezial stage just to fucked up to be part of Sonic's world))
eggman got his teaching degree instead of becoming a villain so never went to limbo obviously

I believe Lost World was a dream of one of the characters. That would explain the strange and lengthy stages as well as some of the cutscenes being very disconnected, just like things in dreams can be sometimes. That would also explain why the Deadly Six are such flat characters because characters in dreams can be flat. Over all it would explain why Eggman is in Sonic Lost World.

unless the game says it was a dream, never assume it to be a dream, that is lazy writing and theorising, just because it doesn't make sense, assume it never happened? and ur logic isn't strong at all, many sonic games and other games have irregularly long and strange stages, with a terrible flow of cutscenes at times, with characters of all kinds of sizes, having flat characters has nothing to do with a dream, that is like me saying sonic generations is a dream because characters in dreams can be from the past, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN DREAMS, seriously tho, and yeah "zavok" appears in forces with dialogue assuming both him and sonic recall lost world
This would be a great theory... if in sonic forces sonic says “It’s been GENERATIONS since I’ve seen you.” And Tails says “ you’re that sonic from the other dimension, aren’t you?” So I think the events of sonic generations did still happen.

I think they stay In the limbo until a dimensional portal gets them back to their dimension.What is that portal caused by?The phantom ruby appearance. So Robotnik goes through the events of sonic mania while eggman tries(failing) to defeat sonic in the other sonic games, but in sonic forces he finds the phantom ruby, teams up with infinite and conquers the world
Or this is an alt universe created after classic robotnic went back and learned from his future mistakes creating an alt timeline and distorting the one already created therefore leaving chaos,shadow,metal, and zavok under his control in the future where he actually takes over the world
So Modern Sonic and DreamCast Sonic Events came before Classic Events....
While I do like this theory, I think there will be some other way Eggman escapes.
Limbo is supposed to be a color and a universal gap and there is no way out of the limbo.

So like if the Unleashed Eggman somehow was killed in an accident the two other Eggman would still be alive in limbo as they would be from a different time Paradox of the universe
