At 120k miles I tuned my bmw 550i with new spark plugs and coils…the car had been missing every now and then and since I had never had the spark plugs changed, figured it was past due…the car ran great after…but about 2-3weeks later the car started missing when idling, drove fine but at idle it would miss, sometimes so bad that the drivetrain malfunction would come up and had no power…after watching several of your videos I checked everything over to make sure all was plugged in and payed special attention to the pcv hoses…they were both broken, full separation…I installed two new pcv hoses and the problems and all the strange error codes went away…when I ran the scan tool there were 15 plus error codes, everything from multiple misfires to running too lean, maf errors, injectors shut down…it was really scary and made me think there was something major. So glad I watched your series on the n63 which led me to discover the problem…cost me $165 instead of maybe thousands at the dealer…thx!
I've been chasing this misfire for my n63 for few months. I have changed coils, on my second set of plugs, about to change the injectors for bank 1, and I have changed both HPFP. One thing i did notice the plugs for bank one were clean, like they had never been fired,. When I checked bank 2, you could tell they had been working. Its the strangest thing, from running just fine to just wont drive consistently. Even did a compression test, all clear there as well.
It’s like gambling. Put money to change this part, and then change the other and no dice, then change something else and so on until you have a wining hand!
I hate diagnosing misfires even as a BMW trained technician, it's always a crap shoot cause the truth is there's like 10 different things that can cause misfires on these cars. Yes I have the ability to actually diagnose and pin point the issue but no one is gonna pay for the diag time that costs, convincing customers to pay more than an hour of diag time for a misfire just isn't gonna happen.
I'm looking at a used 2007 328xi wagon w/170,000. The current owner is frustrated with it and has replaced spark plugs, intake manifold gasket, valve cover w/CCV valve and crank case hoses. He said that headgasket is fine, as well as compression! He's dealing with a random misfire and a p0300 code. It's in beautiful condition in and out. Is it worth taking the risk at $3k? What should I expect, ignition coils, injectors...?
Bad ignition coils cause misfire codes too! If you swap the bad coil with one from a cylinder that is good and the misfire jumps to the cylinder where the good one was at, then there u have it bad coils
My bmw x6M 2014 kept having misfired on cylinder 1 and said MAP sensor too high clear code still have same issues now code is stored can’t erase it need help pls
Come across this video, my BMW 2012 X5 5.0 got Combustion misfire P0300 and misfire on Bank 1 - P031, P0302, P0303 on bank 2 - P0305, P0306 and P0308 - Everything look clean, I already replaced all 8 sparks plugs and 8 ignition coil .. what will be next to look at?
I have this exact same problem. I have replaced spark plugs, coil packs and had both pcv valves replaced. I took it to bmw in perth Western Australia and they said I need to replace all fuel injectors as they said they are all failing my car has done 87000km. They said they haves tested them and they are failing they know this because they have a high ohms reading on them. Does this said right they want $8500 to replace all injectors and high pressure sensors. I am getting ripped off by the dealer? Thanks
it's sounds like a joke. injectors about $80-$100 a piece. you would need to reprogram ecu for new frequency wih a tool or a computer + enet cable. total would be about 1k if everything is brand new OEM, if used injectors ~ 250-300.
2001 bmw 330ci musfiring p1347: misfire cylinder 3 with fuel cut-off p1345: misfire cylinder 2 with fuel cut-off p1343: misfire cylinder 1 with fuel cut-off p0174: system too lean bank 2

What if you have all cylinders misfires 1 to 8?
Had the same thing happened. Did you find a fix?
Hpfp or fuel pump in general
