I’m impressed you said Dark city and phone booth! Two films that just don’t see the time of day.
Phonebooth especially I used to watch a lot. It's been years since I saw it last, must dig it out
Thanks for your honesty. Really respect you for being able to speak your mind while receiving gifted whisky.
That's my one promise on this channel. I'll never fluff up a lacklustre whisky
This is the honesty my Pateon money is funding, and I'm here for it. Kanpai! 🥃🥃🥃
And it'll never change. Reckon I might have burnt a bridge or two with this one, but honestly don't care.
Well said Vin. I see Sutherland himself was on the One Show this week.
Yeah the PR push has been massive on this. And it'll catch people out for sure. Hopefully I can save a few people some quids though
Nice one Vin, thank you for keeping it real!
Always mate!
Fair play Vin, call it out as it is. It's been a good barometer online to see who parrots PR versus actually drinks it. Integrity over selfies wins 🥃
I never read those PDFs when they come through. "notes to editors" gimmie a break! Money spent vs enjoyment, thats all that matters
Always sceptical with celebrity endorsed whiskies. Thanks for the heads up will steer clear 👍
It's a real shame, as Celeb bottles could be amazing if they really tried. Missed opportunity I think
@@NoNonsenseWhisky So true. where as at the moment usually means overpriced
I would highly recommend Alberta Premium Cask Strength in any year of it's releases. It'll be a little pricey, but I think it may be the Canadian whiskey to put a big grin on your face. If you would like something that I think flies under the radar even here in Canada it is Crown Royal Rye at 90 proof. Price here in the under $40 range I think it is maybe the best bargain over here and one I'm sure you would enjoy.
Cheers.
Ps, I'll be skipping Keifer's offering. I was skeptical already when I couldn't find any press on it at all and you have confirmed my suspicions.
The problem I have is just getting it over here. I hope the availability improves one day. But I'm always on the lookout for good Canadian stuff!
Thanks for taking a bullet for us. I was tempted by this but I think I'll give it a miss.
Yeah I don't think it's worth your time mate
I’m glad to see someone else giving an honest review! I didn’t think it was massively bad but it wasn’t good either. I don’t understand why everyone is giving it rave reviews atm :s
It's important to call a whisky out where its falling short. Very much each to their own, but I can't see how anyone can say it's good value for money
In complete agreement across the board. I found it on the offensive side. I also got a heavy acetone/nail varnish note on the nose and palate. It reminded me of cheap vodka on a student night out. Even left my stomach feeling a bit off and an instant acid reflux reaction(again odd to have a similar result!)
.
Almost like the cut took too much of the heads in order to maximise yield.
I can see it working well enough in cocktails. But there are 2 problems.
The marketing and price point just don’t align to the product. Not sure where the market is. Are there enough Kieffer fans out there?
Likewise, genuinely struggling to see the target audience here. Mixers will want (and can get) a cheaper alternative, beginners arent spending 50 notes and enthusiasts will see the lack of quality on first sip.
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I think I would get an horrendous hangover drinking this, just not sure they’ve nailed the distillate.
I'm certain I'll never find out. Can't see myself reaching for it very often now
Thanks for this review! You save me money! I’m in Canada and while I love a 45 yo Canadian whisky, Canadian Club, this one sounds like a definite pass! Cheers!🥂
I think if you can get it for sub 50cad then you're probably ok. Still, I've seen what great whisky you guys keep to yourselves so I imagine you can buy better
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Yes thankfully!
Jack Bauer whisky is what I call it 😂
Whenever I drink it I can't help but shout "DAMMIT CHLOE"
This was actually on my list - it’s now off 😅 thanks for this review it sounds like you’ve saved me quite a bit of money actually at £50, I really don’t like the nail polish note you’re getting too so very very happy I stopped by, cheers!
I could have MAYBE forgiven it at sub £30 but even that's a strong maybe. £50 is just a hard no
@@NoNonsenseWhisky pricing is so strange these days, a couple of years ago I wouldn’t have thought I’d be seeing NAS 40% whiskeys that don’t seem like they taste all that good retailing for £50, you could pick up some really good 16 year olds for that then but a sign of the times I guess!
It's painful isn't it. I try not to compare against the prices of even 5 years ago. Funnily enough, this one doesn't even stack up against the prices of today 🤣
I didn't like it much either, Vin...
Doesn't seem to be doing so well amongst the enthusiasts
That isn’t good Canadian whisky. Unfortunately you don’t seem to get a lot of good Canadian whisky in the U.K. 😕
It's my constant complaint, all the good stuff stays over there 🤣🤣
@@NoNonsenseWhisky unfortunately yes. There is a lot of bottom shelf crap that is sold here, but there is also some offerings of both single malts, rye whisky and blends that are actually quite good here at home.
The U.K. and most places outside of Canada get stuck with the swill for the most part. 😬😆
So what you're saying is, it's just crap lol.
And expensive!
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Damn shame really, because he's actually a really good actor with an amazing history on the big screen. Now he's sold his soul........
