I did that reverse route a couple weeks before you Tim, with a night’s stay in Capital Reef (and a couple in Moab). I went down the Moki Dugway and now regret I didn’t turn around and go back up, the views are a bit different. My experience at Bryce was the same, even on a non holiday. I got in, took a few pics and left (aided by the fact that I’d been twice before). So crowded. The money shot of this video, though, is when you say goodbye to Bob and you look down as you mount your bike and there’s your map on your tank bag. I got a huge shot of endorphins just then, to me maps = adventure ahead.
Tim, you missed the Red Rock Rendezvous by two weeks. Held on June 20-23, 2019 in Panguitch, Utah just a few miles west and north of Bryce Canyon, we had a great rally of 105 motorcycle camping enthusiasts. Join us next year and participate in the on and off road rides throughout the beautiful central Utah area. Highway 12 that you rode in this video is one of Rider Motorcycle Magazine's top 10 rides in the United States. Thanks for showing the beauty of Utah, the roads, sights and adventure that abound here. We look forward to your return to Utah next year. Please plan on being here for the 2020 Rally June 18-21.
Funny about your comment about the scenery. On more than one of my Bike adventures I have tried to explain how beautiful the scenery is. I have said many times "It's like Disney did a movie and left the set up" because it doesn't look real its so spectacular. Cameras can never provide the depth of the magnificence of it all. My eldest daughter told me she stopped taking pictures and started taking mental pictures. Very wise. Thanks for another great vid. I am off that way in August. Be safe and keep the great vids coming were all living through you vicariously.
Entertaining combination of on-bike and off-bike video. Surprisingly cold, eh? Gotta appreciate heated grips and layering. Keep up the excellent work, Tim.
Holy fuck I miss this. I’ve done the moki dugway twice and I actually got to take the ferry in 2018. Sorry you missed out. It definitely added to the trip. After the ferry, just north of bullfrog, I did the burr trail, two-up, with street tires. All the way to Boulder. My first real adventure. Stream crossing and all. I have videos up of both years. I’m picking up the Multistrada TOMORROW with a rebuilt rear shock and a new properly weighted spring for my thick boi ass. I can’t wait to get back to riding these areas. Thanks for taking me back. I can’t believe I missed this video in the series when it came out. No idea how that happened. Nice surprise for tonight.
You are totally right about the surreal quality of the landscapes. I thought before I went last summer "How many different kinds of rocks could there be?" It was educational and amazing. Def want to travel "the loneliest hwy" out there again soon.
This is in my current backyard. Ive been over in Colorado riding the high San Juans, until it just gets too cold, plus ice and snow, which I ran into today. Lot's of roads will be closed down in the next few days. Then Im headed over to south eastern Utah to hit the Dugway, et'al...But I just really appreciate your videos. Plus that "Then came Bronson" vibe/style and attitude, from your videos, is just great...lol...I wish I was a bit younger than you, and starting mnt and desert riding earlier. but sadly so late in life. I cant do much more than 200 miles. Before old man arthritis makes his self know, front and center....Im going to have to put some thought into modding these problems away.
Ha, towards the end when you said it looks man made like Disney....that’s exactly how I have been describing it. That section south of Torrey where you are riding on the spine of the mountain able to look down both sides was breathtaking too.
You should get on a ferry and go to the San Juan islands. Stay at Moran State park or find a secret spot to camp. If you haven't been, you should check it out! Especially since we are having decent weather. Ferry is $30 round trip.
Capital Reef is my favorite park in Utah, been there several times and their is some awesome riding around that area, run out Waterpocket Fold up the Cow Trail unto Escalante Staircase into Boulder, then over Boulder into Tory, then back to CReef. makes a awesome loop.... 7 miles out of Hanksville is a place call Cairnsville and the dirt riding there is epic....
Next time your in the area there's a back road through the back of Capitol Reef It runs from Boulder to Bullfrog at lake Powell. It's called the Burr trail. It's about 70 miles long and half is dirt, quite spectacular, and very little traffic.
Awesome scenery! I'll be out there in Oct. I was laughing when you were on the Dugway and kept saying "oh man! Look at that!" and we couldn't! 😆 A little thing here but I appreciate your channel intro being short and to the point. Shiny side up!

Hey Tim, I would appreciate a video on how you manage security of your belongings on your bike etc. as you travel alone - as I do - as it is great to stop and look around at these sites, but I notice you have a lot of side bags etc that are easily taken by opportunistic thieves. Love your vids, keep 'em coming!
Amazing views up the Mokee. Can't get away from that snow. ;) I visited Bryce in June and it was freezing, bought a sweatshirt once the store opened, LOL. Bryce is such an unreal looking place, too bad it was crowded. Great footage!!
Thanks Tim for bringing back good memories for my wife and I. Two years ago we took our 1200 GSA down the Moki Dugway and through the Valley of the Gods. We got caught in a good thunderstorm about half way through. Needless to say that red dirt became sticky red glue and gave us a fit being two up on the big loaded bike...we survived then headed east to Mesa Verde. That place was awesome. Unfortunately, over the past 5-6 years we have found the more popular National Parks to be so crowded even on weekdays that we are beginning to avoid them more so. Anyway, enjoying your riding..Thanks!
Love your opening shot Tim with that camera way out front. We don't have anything like what I've just seen in New Zealand..... Awesome. Given a chance the last 3 or vids I've watched are the places I'll come and see first. So cool. Best wishes from Kiwi land.
Rode through Hanksville, Capitol Reef, and 12 a week, or two after you did. First week of June. Most all the snow was gone on Boulder mountain, and temperatures were really nice. The only park we didn't find over run in tourists was Natural Bridges National Park. We ended up staying in a private park in Torry. Stayed there 3 nights because it was so nice with really pleasant weather. Great video. Be safe.
Great vid !! Have been to all those places and it’s amazing how lucky we are to have all that natural wonders. The camera doesn’t do justice to Moki Dugway, I’ve lost at least a few pounds in cold sweat going down the gravel path which felt like driving on roller bearings. One of the best drive ever !! It’s up there with Pikes Peak summit drive -
Hey Tim! Looks like Kimberly and I will put Vally of the Gods on our travel plans thanks to you! By the way, we used one of your tips of heating rocks from the fire pit and placing them in our sleeping bags at night, it works! We camped above 11,000 feet this week in Colorado and your tips are being used, thanks much!!
Im shocked this video doesn't have more views...... Anyways, I did Bryce in February yrs ago and we had the whole place to ourselves.. I did Zion at the same time too and it was as equally empty. One of my fav places in the US.
Very cool I’ll be heading out July 13 th. with a few buddies and will be driving thru Utah on our way up to Banff National Park In Canada. I’m hoping to see these places you traveled to in Utah, looks awesome! Riding on my BMW R 1250 GS for just the second long trip since I bought it a few months ago. Enjoying your videos always since they give great ideas of places to go checkout. Thanks Tim!
Since you liked Moki Dugway so much maybe on your way home stop back by in Canyonlands and ride Shafer's Canyon Trail. Same switchbacky road with unbelievable canyon views. I am guessing by now you are quite a ways away.
I was at Bryce Canyon a few years ago with the family, it’s gorgeous for sure. Also as far as freeways go, I-70 West to East across Utah is absolutely stunning. I was thankfully visiting some friends over Memorial Day so I missed that whole mess... sounds rough 😐. I have a bunch of your stuff to get caught up on... been going nonstop since I got home... good to see you’re doing well! Take care.
Brother Tim (and /or anyone else who has experience with this), Since you mentioned that you travel with a laptop computer and cameras in a prior video, I was wondering if you'd done any research on how the excessive vibration of bike riding impacts such devices. Hey Tim. It looked like you were riding in a video game in parts. The whole scenery was surreal. Looked like you were enjoying it though - well except freezing your face off!! Hahaha. Safe trip buddy
Hi Tim, that Valley of the Gods looks amazing! I love high altitudes looking down. It’s a bad idea to go to any National Park on a holiday weekend lol. Cannot wait to see Zion NP. Ride safe my friend. 👍🏼
Great video. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Can't wait for my next trip. How cold was it on the snow covered mountain? In other words, what temp do you usually feel the need to put on the heated gear?
Two questions: You ever post maps of your rides? How do you get that camera angle looking back? Just found your channel and have been trying to catch up. You fill a nice void in the adventure riding videos i see online. Thanks!
Thanks Erik! I am working on including maps somehow. The camera angle I covered in a video on my channel called "how I get this shot" that explains the how and what of that shot. Ride safe!
The wife and I are riding from Indiana to Utah this month. She really wants to see one of those cacti that looks like a man with arms in the air. Any suggestions? Love your stuff!
You need to get into Arizona to see those, they aren't that far north. There is a national park near Tucson that is packed with them, called Saguaro National Park. That is pretty far from Utah. You can see tons of them in Phoenix.
Ok bro cool 😎 footage but how did you get the video of your motorcycle and you without vibration 😝also if you get a chance stop by Page Az is where I grew up very cool places to explore
Hey Tim, great videos btw! I am curious about how you record your voice inside the helmet, is it a gopro mic? And in the past how did you do it? I noticed the sound was different. I am new to the channel btw.
I drove on that road to Vallley of the Gods few years ago and it was bumpy however the view was magnificient. Also noticied you zip tied the ram x-grip mount did you glue them on as well? I tried using it at glacier couple weeks ago but after a small road bumb when I stopped the whole boot came out... I'll try zip ties.
@@FTAAdventureswhile cleaning my tool box out I found the instructions and glue for the x-grip... never knew that glue for those end pieces... if anyone else threw the glue out. It is alpha cyanoacrylate ( superglue) ...WEAR GLOVES! imgur.com/y3F5PoH imgur.com/a/Ef2XXCN
Love the video!! wanted to tell you Vince "squatch" asked my daughter Abby (who cut my hair in part one of valley of gods series) to marry him yesterday =) . I filmed it and will post it up later today. Glad you went up to mobi again what an awesome awesome place!!
do you think , if it was dry , that a big touring bike could do that road , like my Indian Roadmaster? I'd be up for it as long as it's dry and the dirt road is pretty well groomed. If there is deep sand or a lot of deep loose gravel, I'm out.
There are water crossings on the Valley of the Gods, the Mokee Dugway should be fine if it's dry. But it can get steep and you need to be a pretty decent rider, but cars go up and down it with no problem. I am sure you can do it.
I was going to ask where Bob was. How do you deal with riding with a friend who can not ride surfaces that you can? Does it strain the riding relationship?
Hey Tim, great video. Question: heading out to Utah again in September. Planning on doing the valley of the gods loop on my Multistrada with a passenger and luggage. Other than that I think the only other un-paved portion will be the moki dugway. Do you think I’ll be ok on full-on street tires? Or should I split the difference with a 50/50 tire? I’m extremely limited in semi-off-road tire choices as I have a 180/190 width rear, and a 17” front. Interested in your thoughts if you have the time. I just don’t want to struggle through the VOTGs on street tires if the scorpion rally tire could make a difference. Conversely, if it’s an easy dirt road, I’d prefer to not sacrifice the on-road performance if I don’t have to.
My wife and I easily went down the dugway last year on our fully loaded Yamaha royal star venture pulling a tow behind trailer full of camping gear. We passed several other Harleys going up it. We did not have any issues at all on our street bike
MSVisuals Yeah I did the moki dugway on street tires last September. That’s not my concern. The actual valley of the gods loop which is dirt with some possible low water crossings is what i’m specifically asking about.
@@JpOcDenver I can't advise on VOTGs. I would assume it depends on skill level to a degree, but all bets are off if the area gets hit by some late summer monsoon T-storms .
I don't, not yet at least. I might put something together after the trip. I was trying to use something to track my route but it ended up not being very reliable.
@@FTAAdventures thinking back it was raining on and off when I was there. I hit plenty of mud on my trip. At one point I noticed my license plate was unreadable. May wasn't the best this year.
It is hard to believe that all of Utah was a tropical jungle and mostly under a sea bed. What kind of climate change must have occured in the Earth's past. Staggering to believe sometimes.
Valley Of The Gods. Looks so good. The sky above, with the small clouds. Epic.
Thanks Tim for taking me on your adventures

Two questions: You ever post maps of your rides? How do you get that camera angle looking back? Just found your channel and have been trying to catch up. You fill a nice void in the adventure riding videos i see online. Thanks!
Thanks Erik! I am working on including maps somehow. The camera angle I covered in a video on my channel called "how I get this shot" that explains the how and what of that shot. Ride safe!
Tim, this is a nice setup you have there i like the angle, is it a insta 360 ?
GoPro Hero 7 Black on a selfie stick mounted with a flagpole mount on my crash bars. Thanks!
What cameras do you use? Do you recommend the tank bag or s it more of a hassle?
Ok bro cool 😎 footage but how did you get the video of your motorcycle and you without vibration 😝also if you get a chance stop by Page Az is where I grew up very cool places to explore
GoPro Hero 7 Black, the stabilization is intense.
When you were going through Lake Isabella where were you going
I'm from Bakersfield.
I enjoy your videos.
Such clear video, what camera and settings do you use.
GoPro Hero 7 Black. Thank you!
Hey Tim, great videos btw! I am curious about how you record your voice inside the helmet, is it a gopro mic? And in the past how did you do it? I noticed the sound was different. I am new to the channel btw.
Thanks and great question! I have a video coming out next Friday that breaks down the helmet setup and how I'm getting the audio.
What is that camera setup? Looks so cool.
GoPro 7 Black on a selfie stick mounted to my crash bars. There is a video on it somewhere on my channel.
I didn't glue them and have lost 2 so far. The phone has come off a few times. Still looking for a good solution.
@@FTAAdventureswhile cleaning my tool box out I found the instructions and glue for the x-grip... never knew that glue for those end pieces... if anyone else threw the glue out. It is alpha cyanoacrylate ( superglue) ...WEAR GLOVES!

Rad! Love your channel ... What's your camera mount setup for the footage of you riding?? Thanks ✌️
GoPro 7 black on a selfie stick. There is a video on my channel about the setup. Thanks by the way!
Thank you!
I was going to ask where Bob was. How do you deal with riding with a friend who can not ride surfaces that you can? Does it strain the riding relationship?
It definitely changes the way I ride when I’m with Bob, but we make compromises to make it work
.. as always, great scenery, great video. Unfortunately also mass tourism! Greetings from Michael from Germany!
It was pretty crowded, I got lucky with the other parks because I was hitting the shoulder seasons.
Lovely ;-)
By any chance do I have a gpx file of your travel....
I don't, not yet at least. I might put something together after the trip. I was trying to use something to track my route but it ended up not being very reliable.
You can use rever ( rever.co ) is a good app to track your trip. Osmand is also good... they don’t need celular service to work..
So sad I bypassed the dugway I heard it was rough, My Valkyrie would have cruised right up that road.
It is smooth and pretty hard packed. If it is even a little wet I would skip it though. The Valkyrie would have done well with it.
@@FTAAdventures Well I hope I can do it again someday. I had a great adventure on my trip. Its still sinking in that I actually pulled it off.
So sad when guys chose to avoid gravel.
I agree.
Itchy boots would make the most out of your bike.
