Hi..I dic not know either..I just bought one and noticed when I got home..mi bulb has a tear...am sure, it will not affect the flowers to bloom...it's lovely. I have one in pink and the aroma is amazing.. Thanks
Hi Fernanda and thank you for watching. This video was made last winter so it's not a 'new look' for me, more like and 'old look' 😂 I had put the video aside, planning to add to it when the bulbs made bulbils but, well, you know what happened. Thanks for reading to the end and have a nice evening 😊
A formidable Rachel with a chopping knife! I have never tried this method. Definitely something to think about when you can't get your hands on the correct variety. Certainly the preparation didn't take long and all you need is patience to wait for the results. Very interesting.
IT seem the Lady of Douentza has a grand of lungs as well, Rachel i bought my first Fritellaaria bulbs today in Mr middleleton in Mary St , im looking forward to seeing them in full flower come spring time, AS ever thank you Frank😊
I have never tried this method with tulips and tulips are not one of the bulbs that the RHS list as being suitable for this method. If you try it, let me know how you get on!
Can I get confirmation on the ideal temperature? You stated 20 degrees Celsius and had that visually represented as 36 degrees Fahrenheit. My conversion would be 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Just wanted to double check in case I'm missing something. I really want to try this.
Just viewed this video, very informative and I flagged for future reference. My hyacinth are in bloom now, what stage should they be in that I can try this method out?
I’m sorry they rotted…. I was hoping you would get 10 extra plants off those 2 bulbs. Have you tried cutting the bulbs and just planting out in the garden? I’m in zone 8b. I was just curious since I divide rhizomes this way; however I realize these are bulbs. Nature surprises me all the time😊
I feel like the warmth part may be unnecessary. I have had old onions propagate right in the refridgerator. Feels like you could avoid the mold and just opt for a longer process in a much colder environment.
I like those flowers in the background in the intro, are they datura? I never knew that you could propagate bulbs in this way. I wonder why the alliums rotted, they didn't seem to have any brown inside them unlike the hyacinth?
Good morning. The greenhouse flowers are Brugmansia sanguinea. The allium rotted because it was in the same bag as the hyacinth, unfortunately. There was nothing visibly wrong with it. The hyacinth was really bad luck - looked fine on the outside when I selected it from my bag of 💯 and all the others were good because they flowered the next spring! Have a great Sunday
@@GardeningatDouentza Well I was wrong but at least quite close with the flowers! Datura and brugmansia are closely related apparently. Thats unfortunate about those alliums and hyacinths.
36F is very cold, about 2C, 20C would be 68F.
Ah, you are right. There's a mistake in the video. It should read 20C or 68F.
Thanks for pointing that out.
This is AWESOME!.. I never knew you could split these bulbs.. I've gotta try now! TY!

I like your new look!!! Too bad they did not make it, but the method was clearly demonstrated. Thank you Rachel 🙏🤩

Hi from Athens Greece i Have been watching you For long time and I am Enjoy your garden and I would like to thank you
That's wonderful. Thank you so much. That is always lovely to hear.

Haha. Thanks, Una.
Thank you Rachel. I never knew you could cut bulbs up like that. Looking forward to seeing what they look like when you open the box.
Only certain bulbs, as Rachel pointed out!
Hello, Penelope, and thank you for watching. Check the end of the video for how the bulbs turned out and have a great evening.
Thank yo so much. just now encountering the issue of not being able to obtain more of the hyacinth variety I want more of.
Well, this technique should help a lot then. Good luck.

Thank you very much for all that information
You are very welcome
You are so beautiful with re-painted hairs!
Oh thank you!
Thanks Rachel. never tried this . i got a little nervious for the lady of douentza with that knive. but you must be use to it. ; -]
Thanks for watching, Frank.
Hello, thanks for the video. Could you please tell me if this method can be done on Tulips bulbs?
I have never tried this method with tulips and tulips are not one of the bulbs that the RHS list as being suitable for this method. If you try it, let me know how you get on!
I think I'll try this next year. I'm sure it would work for propagating onions.
Fascinating!! I can't wait to see how they progress!
Hi Wanda. Check the final bit of the video for how they progressed. Thanks for watching and have a great evening.
Thank you...I will follow you.
Thank you and welcome to the channel
Thank you for a great video. What fungicide do you use?
Thank you, subscribed!
The fungicide I've used is Fungus Clear Ultra. Welcome to the channel 🌻🌼🌺🌷
Thank you, great video!
Glad you liked it!
Is there a video about how to plant the bulbs after the 12 week chipping period? Thanks
Sorry, no.
Thank you. Love to see how they become growing babies…
Thanks for watching.

My mistake. It should be 68F!

This needs to be done in autumn
Can we use cup of water with hidrojen peroxide for sterilization the little bulbs? (Before planting them)
Yes, I guess so
Hello, I am curious if you have ever used hydrogen peroxide as a fungicide, and if it was effective.
Yes, I have used hydrogen peroxide and it seemed to be effective
I’m sorry they rotted…. I was hoping you would get 10 extra plants off those 2 bulbs.

Thank you for your comment. No, I've never tried cutting the bulbs like that.
I just recently got hyacinth in water, can I do this after the blooms are dead for the following year? Or do I have to dry them for a period first?
The bulb needs to be dormant for you to do this. If it has leaves it's not dormant.
Can we use neem water for the fungicide instead of purchased one? thanks
I doubt that neem oil would work but tell me how you get on!
I feel like the warmth part may be unnecessary. I have had old onions propagate right in the refridgerator. Feels like you could avoid the mold and just opt for a longer process in a much colder environment.
Mould is much more likely at cooler temperatures but thank you for your comments.
Have you got a video on the results?
The results are at the very end of this video.
Thank you. Have you got any videos on propagating crown fritillary bulbs, or what's the best method for doing so?
What do you have in water?
Fungicide
I would dry it overnight and then put into the bag.
I must have missed it: what time of year is best to start this? Spring before they leaf out or fall?
Thank you for the great content!🌷
Autumn is the time!
Would we replant after the bulbs form? Is there a latest time to plant for spring blooms?
Lilli bulbs how much
Why does the roots need to be cut off ?
All parts that might rot need to be removed. The roots are dead anyway.
What fungicide are you using or what fungicide do you recommend?
I use whatever fungicide I can get. I'm not sure what I used in this video.
so the allium rotted too ? :(
Yes
In video ,sound not clear.what is that material name mixed with water?
I think you mean the fungicide.
Can this be done to tulips ??
I have not heard of it being done with tulips.
I like those flowers in the background in the intro, are they datura?

What to do with moldy bulbs
Why not leave the old roots on?
The idea is to remove any material that might rot. The old roots are dead so they may rot.
Would have been nice to see a video of this actually work for you
Is there a follow up video to this one ? Did you show the result ?
The outcome is at the very end of the video
I meant if you showed when it grew after 12 weeks ?
Use a sharpener on that blunt knife
Most bulbs don't seed...
Shame the alliums didnt make it either. The bulb looked perfect. ☹️
Yeah, it's a pity. The alliums looked fine but I put them in the same bag as the hyacinth so that was there un-doing!
Hi , is there an update plz
The update is at the end of the video
@@GardeningatDouentza so sorry they didn't work
look at the camera LENS
Good day I got my asiatic lily rot from the growth point 🥲
Oh no!
@@GardeningatDouentza how do I treat that🥲
@@ninobercilla1071 well, try applying a little cinnamon to the rotting area but if it's the growth tip, you're chances of success are slim. Sorry.
@@GardeningatDouentza thank you
