Omg I wanted to thank you because I took my test today in NYS and I watched all your videos and I passed my test!!! Both skills and written !You are the best!
Thank you so much for making these videos. I just took my test yesterday and passed it. These videos are very helpful and listen carefully to her critical points.
I am so well prepared for my exams, and its all for your wonderful videos Thank you Christine soooooooooooo much, i have been watching your videos over n over
Great video fyi for anyone taking in 2020 at American red cross in Sacramento it's shorter due to COVID-19 you have a naked mannequin and bath blanket already on so all you're doing is putting the gown on and and placing bath blanket back on top then do your closing.
Which skills did you get? How was the written When I first took it it was 30 questions in 2013. I seen it’s 60 questions now. I’m taking mines in Sacramento in two weeks!! I have to retake the written and skills because they never got my paperwork on time!!! 😑 and so I did certified mail which was two months late.
@@jazminegonzalez4243 I got Dressing with paralyzed arm, Fowler's position and Record weight. The written test confused me cuz I bought the 30 day Red Cross study guide which didnt help
TIP: I was taught, in order to promote independence, let the patient do as much as they can first. So you would ask them to lift their unaffected arm and they would help assisting you to take it off :))
So I'll be taking my nursing exam tomorrow and my subject says "changing the clothing and bed sheets of a bedridden patient" and my question is- when do I change the clothing of my patient ? After I'm done with the first half of the bed and transporting him to the clean side or after Im done with both of the sides (full bed) ?
I have the same question what L sauce was asking as well. My textbook says that both of bed side rails up is consider restraint..... I'm confused. I will have the state exam on Feb. 22nd.
Two side rails left up is considered a restraint in the state of TN. I don't know about everywhere else. Unless, there are four side rails on the bed. If there are four then leaving two up is ok. Hope you passed your exam! Mine's today!
+Crystal Angel in California we put the side rail down on the side that we are working on to make the process easier and allow us to come closer to the resident. Then the rail is put up after for their safety such as preventing falls. It's interesting how the rules change in different states.
@@larryjolls8205 I took my class from a nurse teaching her own way and signing us up for the Red Cross state exam. We've been practicing a different way and then suddenly, 2 weeks before the exam we get an email from Red Cross saying how they want the skills performed. Everyone was shocked after reading the Red Cross pamphlet because they list certain steps they want followed.
@@prtnst My class was in Sacramento through a different school. They didn't demonstrate Fowler's, occupied bed, hand care, foot care, or shaving. I ordered the Red cross manual after seeing how different I was taught. My test is in Sacramento also. Do you know other skills people were getting on their tests? Congrats by the way!
@@larryjolls8205 I know what you mean. The Red Cross packet is hard to visualize because it feels like some steps are skipped. I had to make sure I followed the bold parts of the packets but also got help from these videos
Awesome video. Thank you so much! I just had one question. Why did you leave one side rail down? In most videos you leave both side rails up. When do you know when to leave it up or down? Thank you.
I HAVE A QUESTION, CAN YOU GO ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED TO REMOVE THE GOWN ON THE STRONG SIDE, I HAVE THE SKILL TEST IN 3 DAYS, CAN YOU ANSWER ME PLEASE🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Like you can really sit a person up, reach back & unbutton anything while holding dead weight lol. I'd like some of these videos to try some of this stuff w/real people instead of lightweight dolls
You going fall y test if y doing what she doing ?? You have come on side bed wear is weak arm and undress. Don’t put all y body on top pacient big mistake. Dont remove blanket how she remove soo wrong

Notes to remember
Exactly!
Is this skill ever done while the res is sitting up? I’m in school now and that’s how my teacher is showing us to do it..
I say “una off” to remember, unaffected arm off first, then I know affected arm on second

@@jazminegonzalez4243 I'm taking mine in Sacramento on the 16th. Did you do your training with Red Cross?
Thank You. I guess leaving both rails up and down are decided by different States.
The rails are considered a restraint so when you finish your task they should be down.
4 rails are considered restraint 2 is ideal for a fall risk patient
@@germanschokolade64 in california you can leave the strongest side down

Why do you need a blanket if the patient has a bed sheet? 🤷♀️
Protection
Do you learn to work with different garment types or just the gowns?

it’s a restraint
Both side rail is supposed to be down it is a restrained if it is up in the state of Massachusetts you will fail if you leave it up
